If either Cooper or Douglass are interested in sticking around short-term for slightly under-market value, then the Bills should consider it. Cooper is more important than Douglas for sure imho. But both could leave. Also agree that Rousseau, Benford, Shakir, and also Benford (LOL) are important guys to try to extend, but disagree that Cook is a great candidate for re-signing. The Bills seem committed to drafting day 2/3 RBs and letting them play cheap. Ray Davis seems like a great candidate to grow into the role. Benford trumps Douglas, I think we can all agree. Probably bad business to sign both. Shakir probably trumps Cooper, I think we can all agree? Although it would be nice to stockpile and keep a stable of dangerous WRs.

Agreed. In some respects, it seems like McD would RATHER force an offense to beat us by matriculating down the field via checkdowns and dumpoffs and screens, often featuring RBs and TEs and even HBs. Get the QBs off their first reads downfield and deal with the consequences of longer developing plays, pass rush outcomes, etc.

Appreciate this on-topic post. Worthy is looking like the definition of a flashy, speed WR who will likely be up and down with his production, and would greatly benefit from more (healthy) talent around him. Seems like the more exposure he has and the more reps he puts on tape, the more defenses will have an effective plan for him. Worthy is limited by size and strength. He CAN be an effective and explosive receiving option in the NFL, as already shown, but he can also be a limited option.

Love the shoutout for Carter. Haven't seen much of that. I did hear a little of it on the radio (what little I tune into), but overall I've been impressed with his juice since Oliver hurt his hammy.

I'd argue he has elite body control but isn't big or tall, so can have issues and inconsistencies when bodied up aggressively. (Can also get loose against such coverage, so...) Seems like a WR who can be impacted by big hits. He's not big enough for consistent #1 target share. Despite how talented he is. More like a perfect #2 guy tbh.

Okay, then please share concrete evidence of these "Hamlin sucks!" observations. I'm 100% willing to accept a convincing argument about a late-round safety with a unique injury history being below starting caliber. That is the likeliest reality, in fact! So please show me why, in this case.

Totally agree that the dead cap is being unreasonably ignored by many fans, and that the Bills are NOT going to release Bass during the season because of that prohibitive dead cap penalty. Even IF they "find someone better," (which would be great) they would be wise to keep Bass inactive until the league year ends or even until June 1, then release him. Whenever I read "Cut Bass Now!" I wonder why?

Can't really disagree, but then we should also imagine alternative positive results for the Jets on that drive if we're going to unilaterally wipe away a GOOD result only because it should have been unlikely or something.

The Bills need a win, same as every other week. The rest all becomes the past immediately once the game ends. Of course we WANT a more convincing win, but the only thing that actually matters is the final score. The players don't need a walk over win. They need a win. They need to make enough plays to win the game. Fan perception and post-mortem analysis is completely separate from what the team is dealing with. So it's NOT actually important.

IF you're going to engage in this kind of re-engineering, then you should err on the side of generosity to BOTH teams, meaning... ...if you're just taking that 7 pt hail mary off the board, even though it was intentional and really well executed (against a questionable defense--with DEs dropping to take away the shallow sideline throw)...then maybe you should grant the FG instead, rather than just declaring the play a fluke. The Bills defense was ineffective as is on that play, so why assume they should have been effective against every scenario there? That kind of adjustment makes it an 8 pt game, which still allows for intrigue on that final Jets drive. That seems about right to me (at least for this exercise).

Tom Brady as Fox's lead Color Commentator is all you need to know about the degradation of NFL broadcasts. Plastic and phony like A-Rod (baseball) but not nearly as good at acting human. Then you've got Collinsworth who is unbearably shrill and hyperbolic. Commentators in general need to chill out and say less. Comment on the actual plays and not whatever incessant narratives they identify during the week. Have some actual human chemistry with their broadcast partners. Maybe some wit even. And of course, the refs need to back the eff off. Unless something is obvious (like every Sauce Gardner hold or Juwaan Taylor false start/illegal formation), stay out of it.

Genuinely wonder if the concussion and adoption of the Guardian Cap had him consciously picking up his head and lining up big, impactful hits that weren't deemed penalty-worthy even to the most officious crew of all time... I remain surprised that neither of the two hits I'm thinking of were flagged--the hits that jarred out the ball and left the WR down for a moment. Those are almost always flagged, even when properly lined up and shouldered. Rapp definitely had a different posture upon arrival this week. Really hope we see that continue. The game is great when defensive players hit hard but responsibly. (Just like it's great when a run-blocking Spencer Brown stays with his guy and absolutely pancakes him...except when they FLAG it.)

Respect for the mistaken name aesthetic being a partial driver of this. I dig his actual name, but naturally a Bubba would land with majority of Bills fans.

Is there ANY evidence Baker is available? If not, I'd really like the Bills to get Kyle Hamilton from Baltimore. He would be so valuable and interchangeable with Taron Johnson, and get Hamlin back in his ideal role of legitimate, reliable S depth and starting STs value (fake punt/direct snap specialist).

Titans are the kind of team that could give the Bills fits. Very physical defensive front. Talented offensive pieces but the QB is butt. Kind of like what the Jets were in recent years.

They were perfectly legal hits. Almost like the dude finally understands where the ball carrier's strike zone is, but can still drive through it with his previous vigor.

Davis has more upfield explosion than I expected post-cut. Super effective zone-scheme, one-cut runner who also falls forward with force. We haven't had many honest snaps to judge him on prior to today. And today he looked like the real deal. Brady obviously caught the Jets in repeated looks the Bills could exploit on the ground, even some with loaded boxes. But Davis also looked really smooth cutting back and exploding upfield, maximizing his snaps. You gotta bully a bully, and the Bills did that. First run right at Sauce? Love that.

Crazy that neither of his big ball-jarring hits were flagged. They were textbook hits, but I'm still amazed that the refs didn't flag them due to force of the collisions over the middle. The refs were BRUTAL in general, and especially in the 2nd half, but NOT flagging Rapp's completely clean and effective hits was pleasantly surprising. The "look" of those plays mirrored other typically flagged plays.

That guy has the worst instincts when things tighten up. THE WORST.

Everyone who criticized Brown for that penalty is DEMENTED.

The guy from a few years ago, probably. Such a knack for getting behind defenders, stacking them, and tracking the ball over his head. Is 2024 Tyler Lockett still effective enough to "fix" anything? He can still play in the league, but this is a hyperbolic post without any further analysis of the how and why.
