TDN Mock Draft Machine; My mock draft
Richard Noggin replied to STL-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what she said. -
I am happy with Dorsey as the QB coach, but...you DO realize Culley was a high-level college QB, right? His NFL coaching experience was primarily at the WR position, but his personal experience as a player was as a QB, so... Why are people so uninformed?

Looks like we need to do a supplemental Wife Draft for Jim Halpert. I'm a Pam guy all the way, but I understand the contrarian love for Karen.

2019 Mock Drafts and top prospects
Richard Noggin replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
This is who YOU'D pick, right? Rather than who you think the BILLS will pick? Because recent history shows a mid-to-late round leaning towards underappreciated and/or smaller school guys. You're rocking all major school/conference prospects here. Also, you see Fant's athleticism far outweighing the quiet criticisms about his effort/grit, yes? -
Bills hire Heath Farwell as ST coordinator
Richard Noggin replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully some posters will actually read the Charlotte Observer profile. Give us great insight on how this guy is wired, and what players can expect. Sounds good to me. The Carolina griping is just lazy (and/or funny, depending on who the Bills bring in). -

OT Jonah Williams in the first

Moot versus mute. Easy mistake. And frankly, I don't think oline is a group you "fix" in FA. I think you draft and sign guys (but mostly draft) continuously until your cupboards overfloweth. Once you have a QB to build around, you can't eff around with patchwork olines (like Seattle did for a couple years, for example.) -
Shaq Lawson 5th year option on the table
Richard Noggin replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't be excited about that, either, if it were true. Except that it's not. Lawson is under contract next year, and the Bills have the option of picking up his 5th year option for the season after that. (I don't know if they will exercise this option. But, let's agree on the facts first.) -
Brandon Beane press conference 12/31
Richard Noggin replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, Richie has most definitely been heard from since the whole paycut freakout. There's this: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/police-docs-richie-incognito-seemed-to-think-he-worked-for-nsa-attacked-man-at-gym/. And then there's this: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/police-report-richie-incognito-wanted-to-cut-off-his-dead-fathers-head-at-funeral-home/. You're just being obtuse for fun, yeah? -
Zay Jones: The numbers show that he is a #2.
Richard Noggin replied to The Bills Blog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was illuminating watching JuJu in Pitt today, with no #1 WR attracting defensive attention away from him. He's a talented player, but the big numbers in football are often a result of so many factors beyond the individual player's ability... Remember when Pearless Price put up monstrous numbers, for example? Why was that? And why was it not duplicated in Atlanta after he was moved? (Serious eye issues notwithstanding.) It's difficult to analyze offensive production in a vacuum. Football is the ultimate team sport. -
Mic'd Up: Josh Allen vs. the Lions
Richard Noggin replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't Brees still the starter during Rivers' rookie season? That WOULD be off-putting for a bench guy to run his mouth... -
Brady playing hurt? Partially torn MCL?
Richard Noggin replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like a plan. What was the approach on MNF earlier this year? I remember (granted, I wasn't the most sober fan there) the D being fairly aggressive, and fairly effective in keeping the Pats offense off-balance for "much" of the game. Definitely not "enough" of the game, of course. Because: With that offense the Bills were fielding, I mean, you knew the Pats would get enough cracks at it to break through eventually. Difficult to blame the defensive gameplan or execution. -
13 dropped balls all season?????
Richard Noggin replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, what Bills fans want are receivers who make catches OTHER teams' fans expect them to make. Bills fans don't remember what that looks like, outside of some sporadic Sammy Watkins highlights (against KC, and that one-handed stab-and-gather in Detroit on the game-winning drive). I actually jump up when one of our receivers snatches the ball with two hands, away from his body. -
Potential Cut Candidates in the Offseason
Richard Noggin replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We certainly hope that's the case, don't we? I vaguely recall an article earlier this season making the case for Star doing yeoman's work, but haven't seen any evidence-based analysis of his impact lately. Anyone got evidence he's filling his role well? Traditional stats (tackles, pressures, sacks, etc.) don't tell the story, is what we're hoping... -
It seems as though Frazier got too hung up on 4-man rushes early this year, and McDermott stepped in to infuse the play-calling with more creative/aggressive pressure packages. That appears to have mostly helped (except against the Colts and Packers, especially). But yeah, against the Colts, in particular, it looks like (and sounds like in post-game interviews) they'd gone back to the more passive Tampa-based, 4-man-only pass-rush games (twists and stunts and zone drops), which can be gashed and slashed on the ground, and exploited in play-action. Lately it feels like the D has gone back to those less aggressive pressure concepts that spell doom against teams who can also run the ball. If we don't affect the QB, we don't play good D.
-
That's reasonable. I haven't always found your analysis to be reasonable. But here you're being fair. "Those inconsistencies" were mostly fixed in every other game, oddly enough. But you're right: we've watched several BAD games of defense this season. Very bad games. Which has simply revealed that the 2018 Bills don't have an offense capable of 'picking up' the defense in a given week. No NFL defense is consistently shut-down anymore. Flashes, sure. But offense is the only somewhat-reliable phase of the game now.

Lorenzo Alexander for MLB!!! He did it in the playoff game last year. He is a beast.
-
Heard. Let's hope we see more of this. Watching last week's game again, especially the second half (which is both a compliment and a criticism), was surprising. Some of those plays were even more impressive when slowed down and deconstructed. His talent is tantalizing. I really want Beane to be right about this one thing.

You don't think the games last year showed some ON-FIELD hostility? Articles have been shared in this thread about the season finale and the bad blood. I think right now the PLAYERS hate the Dolphins more than I do, for example. I don't hate them the way I did in the 80s and 90s. And you're right, that's partially because neither team is currently relevant enough for an intense buildup. But I think the players have some recent ammunition for a legitimate rivalry.
