  1. If he were going somewhere else to visit I wouldn't mind it. But he's going to one of the best facilities in the league. Some guys just fall in love with that. They can't offer him the cash, but they could sell him on an experience. Plus they are desperate for another WR. Didn't draft one. Pitta got hurt. Campanaro is always hurt. They really need him or Decker. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sign with them that they make a big push for Decker.
  2. Yeah but anything can happen. The Ravens just lost their starting TE and their starting Nickel Corner. They hit a string of bad luck with injuries since their SB season. All of the other teams you named barring the Patriots could all be one significant injury away. So it's just as McDermott would say, a matter of "trusting the process" and seeing what happens but making sure you don't beat yourself as you go through.
  3. Gilmore coming of a season ending shoulder injury; Watson off a torn Achilles; Williams off a close to microfracture knee surgery. I think they are very interested now.
  4. From what I understand about Pitta's deal the Ravens have an injury waiver so they wouldn't be stuck with the salary if he got hurt again, so that could free up some room for Barnidge. I definitely think they will pursue him. They could cut Arrington and who knows what they will do with Watson.
  5. The only thing that analysis has right IMO is Gillislee. Other than that I think the article is overvaluing Robert Woods and Marquis Goodwin. They showed flashes but they were never consistent and were never a defensive coordinators concern. Woods was a good blocker though. But again, neither of these guys were a defensive coordinators concern. Goodwin couldn't stay healthy and Woods was just too inconsistent. Again he showed flash and had one game (seattle) where I thought finally another WR stepping up to be a weapon, but then would go silent. Gilmore has some talent but like the other guys consistency was lacking. He will play better for Bellicheck because BB will do things that help his guys succeed rather than telling them we running cover 1 and you just gotta play through it and get roasted over and over again. That said, I like our guys and I like what McDermott has going on defense. You can't underestimate simplicity. It allows guys to play alot faster and when you play faster you play confident. My biggest concern is a dropoff in the run game, not because of Gillislee though but because I'm not sure Castillo has the "eye" that Lynn had as run game coordinator and eventually O Coordinator. Lynn used a lot of extra linemen sets. Him and Roman loved that and it worked and was hard as hell for defenses to defend. Roman is known for that. Castillo I've never seen a team with him as run game coordinator deploy an extra lineman in some of their formations. Neither have I seen a team with him as run game coordinator go with a Tackle over in their formations. When you look at a lot of the big runs that Shady had last year, they were from formations that either moved a tackle over or one that deployed an extra lineman.
  6. Can't say I would not entertain offers. It wouldn't be so much about Sammy protesting to sign but moreso about where I want cap money tied up and where cap money is already tied up.
  7. I don't think Ragland playing at the SAM spot means he automatically comes off the field in nickel situations. I mean Derrick Brooks for instance played SAM for the Bucs and played every down. I'm not saying Ragland will play the SAM spot, I'm saying I could see the possibility.
  8. Hodges is intriguing to me because of his versatility. HE played Inside LInebacker in the 49ers defense last year. I don't think it's automatic that he'll be playing outside at the WILL Spot. I think he could also be competition in the middle. I can see a starting unit of Ragland (SAM), Hodges (Mike), Humber (WILL). McD seems to like Humber alot.
  9. I mean I think you have to go through all of the OTA's first to see what you have. IF you are not satisfied after that then up the ante with Barnidge. Otherwise just see what you have first and hopefully the guy we are looking for is already on the roster.
  10. This has me a bit nervous about Jones, but I'll wait and see.
  11. Definitely not something I wanted to hear and hopefully it won't be something more.
  12. LOL not if they have not addressed you not being able to run up the damn field instead of the momentum taking you out of bounds
  13. Shaq was expected to make a transition much like Terrell Suggs did for the Ravens. Shaq played most of his snaps at Clemson with his hand in the dirt, but stood up occasionally. So I'm guessing those occasional times he stood up was enough for Rex to say he could be the "Elephant" player in the defense. Ragland made plenty of sense for Rex's 3-4 because that what Reggie played and excelled in at Bama.
  14. 49ers have made it clear that he's not on the block.
  15. I think Shaq is the perfect fit in McDermott's defense. Has the typical frame for a DE that McD seems to like (just going off Carolina). I'm seeing between 6-8 sacks and being a good edge setter in the run game. The great thing about this fit is Shaq said a lot of the defense is the same thing they ran at Clemson so there should be less thinking for him resulting in him being able to play a lot faster. We'll see. I just don't like the lack of depth behind him and Hughes.
  16. They won't give up a first. Newsome hasn't done that since the Suggs/Boller 1st round draft and he hated not have a 1st rounder the next season. They could give a 2nd as they've done that before in the Boldin trade and in the Mcgahee trade. I just don't think we should let a guy with Watkins potential walk out the door for a mere 2nd rd pick. He easily has top 100 player, hell even top 50 player in the league talent. His body just doesn't allow him to actualize his potential. If he leaves for FA and signs a big contract don't we get a comp pick? Hopefully a 3rd.
  17. I think Boston would excel especially if he had limited assignments. I think he struggled mostly in Carolina when he was in the box and had to think run and pass. He seems to work well just roaming the center of the field.
  18. Here is the thing and you should know this from Tyrod. Fans hate their own players alot LOL. I'm not saying that Boston is the next Ed Reed or anything but I wouldn't buy a lot of fans take on players. Need an outside eye.
  19. Yes but the fact that you can package them and move up the board is of great value now though.
  20. Makes sense to not pick up an expensive option that is guaranteed for injury.
  21. I'll tell you a team and their fans who would love to have him - Baltimore. They won't give up a first though. Newsome loves 1st rd picks.
  22. I look at it this way. When I've made mistakes, it's tough for me to own up to them. But when I decide to own up to them, I know the road ahead is not going to be nice, it's probably going to be a bit uglier before it gets better, but I'll be much better for it on the other side. That's what doing things right and getting things right require. It'll be ugly for a minute. But you have to be willing to swallow that nasty pill and realize the ugliness will not be here forever. Or you can take the opposite route and never admit that stuff is F'ed up because of what you've done and in the end allow things to just get much much worse and discover the ugly could have been much shorter if you would have just come clean. It's not nice, it's not pretty, but it's good to admit this now, get it out of the way, look like a !@#$, criminal whatever. We'll be better for it much sooner rather than being much worse for not admitting it. Lastly, we could have been the Browns who excelled at nothing on the field and looked a bit worse than our organization off of it. But even the Browns righted their ship this draft.
  23. Some might not like this, but I'm a firm believer in wiping the slate completely clean when you are starting over and doing things the right way at the start or it's going to come back and bite you. Hopefully Whaley finds himself another spot. This had to be done.
  24. We did not grab TE talent so I would like for us to look there along with some more talent at that weakside linebacker spot. Would also like one additional pass rusher.
  25. But he's made of glass so it won't last forever. I think at least one of these guys are being looked at for Nickel. The other will probably be special teams ace.
