Desperation. They know if they lose to us Monday Night and fall to 2-4, it's likely season over. Still can't wrap my head around firing your HC this early, but if we beat them, they are going to spiral.

Jets 2-3 with a banged up Rodgers who looks like it would be a miracle for him to finish the season. Saints 2-3 and just lost Carr for who knows how long.

Unless someone is willing to eat the salary, he's just eating it anyway week by week. Schefter reported on McAfee that the Jets/Adams connection has cooled since their loss in London.

Mini rebuild. Why is anyone that surprised?
SCBills replied to Blackbeard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Teams who have an elite QB in their prime, that haven't made it to a Super Bowl (let alone won one), don't do full rebuilds. They can take a step back, while remaining competitive, but what we've seen the past two weeks isn't a "step back". It's negligence and shocking incompetence. I don't believe we're as bad as we've looked these past two weeks.. as we tend to do this for 2-3 games a year, ie the swoon.. it just typically occurs a little later in the season. But even then, it hasn't looked like we are an embarrassment, which is what we've looked like two weeks in a row. -
After sleeping on it, I’ll say once Oliver & Johnson come back, Carter showed enough to warrant more playing time and our 4 man DT rotation should be a strength as the season goes on. Smoot looked to have a strong game as he’s getting his legs back under him and with Von eventually coming back, we have a really strong DL. Can they show up when it matters? We’ll see, but on paper, this DL should be a strength as the season goes on. Dorian Williams continues to ascend. Offense needs better WR play.. it is what it is. We, at least, know what the problem is. Whether we address it remains to be seen.

10/6/2024 - Bills at Texans post game thread.
SCBills replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen has to hit that Kincaid deep shot for a TD. He keeps missing those and in an Offense without much room for error, it’s a massive liability. Deep throws are low percentage for any QB, but for Allen lately they’re just a waste of a down. Hollins can track better and Coleman can not drop it (Ravens game), but Keon is a rookie and Hollins is paid scraps. Allen is viewed as QB2 in the league and will be paid as such once we extend him again. He needs to be better. -
How did you feel when Josh set up in the shotgun?
SCBills replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Both Offenses were stuck in the mud, but Stroud was under pressure and turning it over, whereas our Offense was just incompetent. I trust Allen to have a moment of brilliance to win the game in OT, before I do Stroud putting a drive together when he struggled to do much of anything after Collins went out. -
What O adjustments can the Bills make short of a trade?
SCBills replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
More pass attempts on first down. Make 11 personnel our base offense with Shakir, Coleman and MVS as the main receivers with Samuel & Hollins as depth. If Samuel is hurt, make him inactive or put him on IR and call up Hamler. -

They got five yards on the game winning drive. Truthfully, they probably didn’t even need it. Indoors and their kicker is a monster. He was banging that kick anywhere under 70. We needed a first down. -
Do you approve of the job Brandon Beane is doing?
SCBills replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chiefs hit on Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones. Nobody else in our conference has had guys as impactful as them. Those guys, in the big moments for that team, always show up. It’s why they keep winning when it matters. This isn’t a Bills-centric issue. We drafted high once and took Ed Oliver, then extended him .. good player but not Chris Jones. Nor is Quinnen Williams or Dexter Lawrence. It is what it is. We signed Diggs. Elite WR during his time here. Got clamped every year against the Chiefs. -

SCBills replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Eh.. I don’t know that it’s straightforward.. Long term, this team is set up really well. Beane has drafted a lot of good players. But we can’t seem to find the difference makers that our counterparts have. Even this offseason, the Ravens look brilliant for pairing Lamar with Henry. We spent the same money APY on Curtis Samuel. I think we’re set up well to be a year in/year our contender in the future after being that the past few years also. I think he’s had a disaster class offseason with the Diggs trade and lack of corresponding moves for a WR room that was lacking even with Diggs. Do I approve of the job Beane is doing? I probably do, but right now he’s at risk of blowing a prime year of Allen’s career and getting him beat up in the process. The hits Allen has taken in the past two games due to constant 2nd/3rd and longs and nobody respecting us down the field are of a different caliber than he’s faced consistently in the past .. and it can’t continue. -

75% agree. A perfect punt probably won them the game. If we get the ball at the 15 or 20, everyone is trusting Allen.. even with how messy everything was.. to try to get Bass a long FG attempt to win. -
So are our coaches just dumb or is Samuel hurt and/or incapable of running downfield routes right now? I honestly don’t know, because I don’t have faith that Brady knows what he’s doing and I also have seen nothing from Samuel to make me think he can do anything. Hollins & MVS as WR5/WR6 are fine, but to have them higher up that pecking order, along with seemingly blowing 8M per year on a gadget guy that we can’t do anything with is not acceptable roster management .. even in a cap strapped year.

Chiefs are just as meh as everyone else in the conference. It’s time for them to take a loss. Absolutely ridiculous that team is undefeated.

They weren’t getting a first down running. Maybe Allen could get it on a designed run, but the traditional run game had been shut down because they weren’t worried about our downfield threats at all. That doesn’t mean Allen should be chucking it down field when we just need a first down to get to OT. Let’s say he even connects with Hollins.. what’s happening? We run up to our own 30 or 40 and spike the ball with 10-15 seconds left, at best. Then what? -
Allen looks like he’s actively losing trust in everything around him in real time. That alone should force Beane’s hand in trading for help asap. We can start by not putting him in 2nd and long constantly. But Allen is letting a bad WR room bring him down, rather than him lifting them up. And some may want to point to KC/Mahomes, but they have a guy he trusts implicitly in Kelce, a coach he trusts implicitly in Reid and a Defense that wins ugly games against good QB’s.
-
Both were bad throws. The Kincaid one obviously had no chance given the under throw. However, the Hollins one should have been caught by any competent downfield receiver. QB’s shouldn’t need to make perfect throws down the field to have passes be caught. Coleman dropped a perfect deep throw last week. Hollins couldn’t track a deep throw that gave him a chance yesterday.

Concerned that Joe Brady may have crashed back to reality.
SCBills replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can we at least try passing on early downs? I honestly can’t handle the predictable early runs. And it’s going to get Allen hurt, given he faces constant 2nd and longs with no quick separators. -

THIS McDermott catches heat for the end of game nonsense.. and that comes with the territory. However, Allen not hitting guys on the rare times they beat their man for big plays and Brady having slave like devotion to first down runs and zero creativity in the passing game are the culprits behind this loss. It’s a lot to put on Allen, given the trash he has to work with, but he’s recognized as being on the Mahomes tier of talent .. you can’t constantly miss guys deep. It’s all the time with this flaw. -

SCBills replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall
Worst part is Brady just had to figure it out or we’ll struggle. McDermott can’t fire another OC in-season. Thats not a card you can play year after year. -
First time watched Darnold this year, so maybe it was just a bad game, but he was horrible. Jets Offense lost that game.
-
Are we figured out already? The issues as I see them
SCBills replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hard to be a pocket passer when nobody gets open and the OC has a religious devotion to first down runs. -
If we can get healthier on defense (we will) and figure things out on offense (unsure) then yea.. we’re fine. Problem is, the Jets are 100% going to go single high closed and dare us to beat Sauce and Reed with Coleman, Hollins and MVS. Do we think we have a counter punch? Because I haven’t seen it. Getting Shakir back would help.. doesn’t solve this problem though. Brady can stop with the first down predictable runs. That might help a bit. Our biggest issue right now seems to be the offensive fix is not currently in this locker room.
-
Allen is going to get beat up when Brady constantly puts him in 2nd and long due to his predictable run obsession. His biggest hit today came because we put him in an “and long” situation. Came last week on a dumb Brady trick play. Came Week 1 because he felt like he needed to do everything. Brady and Beane, aside from investing in OL, are actively putting him in harms way right now without any first down pass plays and/or quick separators forcing him to hold the ball longer.
