  1. Salary Cap goes up big and so does the cap hit for Josh Allen and Von Miller. If he’s willing to take a multi-year extension at 21-22M AAV and a bump in pay next year, I’d do it just to try and get it out of the way. My only issue, and maybe it’s function of our offense, is that he doesn’t take over games the way I see other elite guys do it. That’s why I’d go low 20’s but not any higher … also since we literally can’t go any higher if we want to field a complete team.
  2. Its not petty, but he’s also a WR with two years left on his deal. He’s also not Tyreek Hill. If he wants money that doesn’t make sense for Beane/Buffalo, then he can go make it catching passes for a low/mid-level QB or rookie. It is what it is. I’m down to about 75% from 99.9% that he’s on this team Week 1.
  3. Love it. This is where I'm at... McDermott isn't perfect, but he's very good, and clearly has an eye for CB play and development. If I'm the Bills, I'm using my RD1 & RD2 picks on OL/WR/DL moving forward. Then drafting two secondary players every year in Rounds 3-7. Specifically targeting players like this that McDermott can work with and develop. Keep the CB/S room stocked with constant draft picks, even if we're not spending high picks on the positions. Good find, and clearly we need speed in the secondary. You can scheme ways to keep teams from throwing over the top. Can't really scheme open field scenarios where Tyreek Hill just runs away from all your corners and safeties.
  4. Cautionary tale to those wanting Breece Hall. I also think the Chiefs made the right decision. There's zero chance they could compete at the level needed by paying Hill what he received from Miami. That said.. The Chiefs aura was Mahomes/Hill/Kelce. It was so unique to defend.. no other team has an elite QB, with the most explosive WR the league has ever seen and the league's top TE. Hill unlocked everything on that Offense because you have to bracket him, while in a normal world, would be bracketing Kelce. I've never seen anything like it.. They'll be ok. They'll have an explosive offense. But they will never replicate Hill in his prime + Kelce in his prime. We've never seen that before, and likely never will again. Now they're best bet is to field a Mahomes-led Offense like the Bengals. Elite QB with weapons all over. However, A) That is defensible and B) they are absolutely kicking themselves for wasting a RD1 pick on CEH looking at their roster on March 24th 2022.
  5. It's not like we'd replace Diggs with Jimmy Football Fan.... Draft Jameson/Olave/Dotson at 25. Target another WR high next year with a pick Diggs would bring back in a trade. Keep loading up on WR talent.
  6. 22M, we may do, but much higher and its basically - ok - Cash in and catch balls from Jared Goff or Jalen Hurts etc.
  7. I'm to the point where I think CB would be a horrible pick. I don't even think it makes sense for us at 25... as so many suggest ie. safe pick/makes a ton of sense... We have a CB friendly system that is predicated upon pressure up front with four rushers. Invest high picks/assets in Offense and Defensive Line. Everywhere else draft mid-late rounds and develop. No corner can cover for more than a few seconds and no corner can single cover guys like Hill & Chase. Score points, stop the run and pressure the QB.
  8. It just doesn't really happen with star players. Next off-season, the only likely options are extend or trade. I see zero scenarios where he plays a lame duck year with the Bills.
  9. We didn't lose to KC because of our CB's.. We lost because Addison/Hughes were the kings of "pressure", no sacks.
  10. We aren't "advocating" for it. We're saying we shouldn't pay him Tyreek Hill money. If that's what he wants, then it's time to move on. Most of us with this opinion are the same ones pounding the table for WR at 25. And if we end up having to trade him next year, we draft another WR high next year. If elite WR's are making mid-level QB money, and we have 40M+ tied up in Allen, we need to be drafting a WR high, minimum, every 2 years. Look what he's done with a RD3 TE and RD4 WR. Give the man a high pick WR for the love of God...
  11. This. We had a lot of solid players last year. Bills FO clearly looked at a lot of these guys and simply said "not good enough" To all those people hand-wringing over Levi Wallace to the Steelers on an affordable contract.. We very likely did not want him back, and thank goodness, because I'd rather see a raw 3rd rounder with some speed out there (if it comes to that), than stuck-in-molasses Levi trying to defend Hill/Waddle twice per year. I feel we'll look back the same way on Bates. He's very upgradeable.
  12. They also played their best ball when the OL was healthy, which coincided with Bates entering the lineup. Dawkins was a liability much of the season.. He got his wind back towards the end of the season and was rag-dolling people... That had nothing to do with Bates. Brown was a rookie, but a rookie with some game experience under his belt.. nothing to do with Bates. Williams was back at OG, not bouncing around between OG and OT. Maybe they do value Bates. Maybe he is that good. But it seems to me that they tendered him as if they view him as a potential starter, likely swiss army knife depth. Nice to have if he comes back cheap, but not much of an offseason priority.
  13. Why though? If they don't match Bates, I trust Beane/Kromer in their view of the OL. Kromer running this group gives me a ton of confidence that they know what they're doing. I highly doubt losing Bates means Ford starts and our depth is Mancz, Capra and Doyle. Maybe they have some OL that Kromer loves in the Draft.
  14. So if he goes to the Bears, that 2.5M goes back to our available cap, correct? So we'd be around +8M?
  15. Packers were ready to pay that to Adams though.. Adams just wanted to leave at that point. Chiefs, while losing 1/3 of what made them all-time special, likely did make the smart move. They had a price point for Hill. Didn't exceed it. Traded him for picks. Hill is 29 and his game is predicated upon legendary speed/athleticism.
  16. He was raw Year 1, but still had the splash plays that made you believe in him. Year 2, he was average, with more splash plays. Should have won his 1st Playoff Game if our defense doesn't unravel, John Brown gets two feet in or a phantom penalty isn't called at the end of the game. Year 3.. MVP candidate. Year 4... god-mode Playoffs
  17. If I'm Beane, I call Diggs and say.. "Hey, obviously we both see the WR contracts flying around this off-season. We value you. You know our situation, you know where we're at. Are you cool to play out this season and then we sit down and address your contract next off-season?" If he says yes. We play out the season. Sit down and see where everyone is at moving forward. If there's hesitation, or it's a no (which we've seen zero indication of), then I think you need to start taking calls about his availability for another team. FWIW, I don't think we should expect a Adams/Hill trade package. It would be a solid haul.. but I don't sense Diggs is viewed the same way those dudes are, nor do I believe he will get paid like they are (by us, or anyone else). He's elite... but he's not Adams or Hill.
  18. Are you new to Twitter? Also, Twitter isn't real life. I'm constantly reminded of this when I talk about something "extremely online" to a bunch of normal, everyday people and they have no clue what I'm talking about.
  19. I don’t think Crowder and McKenzie would be ahead of certain WR’s. And in Jameson Williams case, we get a top 10 talent who were perfectly positioned to absorb the half season he may miss due to our existing WR depth. I simply don’t see Booth or Elam types moving the needle in the way a high profile WR would. McDermott is great with developing the secondary guys, and modern day pass defenses are more predicated upon pressure rate/sacks than they are elite secondary players (See Dolphins/Bills lately)
  20. Beane has done a tremendous job keeping the long term window open. We have one massive “go for it” investment. Von Miller. That’s it. We even have an out in the contract after Year 3. No future draft picks given up. Nothing. If Diggs plays out his career here, or at least his prime, we will replace him with a pick or FA. As long as Allen is here, and Beane keeps the philosophy he has, our window is open. I get why the Chiefs did what they did, but losing Hill for a 1 & 2 plus some mid-late picks only works if they hit on their draft capital. Im just interested to see what Mahomes looks like without the most dynamic WR/TE duo of my lifetime.
  21. He helped, but our line also finally got healthy. Dawkins was a beast again after fighting covid effects all year.
  22. Crowder is here on a one year deal for 2M plus incentives. He seems like insurance that can still ball out if we don’t find a better option. If they draft Olave or Dotson.. our 3-wide is Diggs-Davis-Olave or Diggs-Davis-Dotson. If they draft Jameson Williams, Crowder holds it down until Williams can play.
  23. You offer him what we can pay him after/during next season, and then if it doesn’t work, we trade him. If these WR’s would rather chase money and play with mid/rookie QB’s, not much we can do about it. This is why it’s imperative to keep the WR room stocked for Allen. Diggs helped Allen, no doubt… as did Allen, Diggs… but Allen is that dude now. He elevates the offense.
  24. They could, but DK would likely cost more draft capital than Hill and (my opinion) negotiations start at Hill’s contract.
