  1. Geez….spend much time practicing all that stereotyping or does it come naturally? And no, I have no idea what kind of a guy Terry is, and I’d bet you don’t either.
  2. To quote George Costanza: “Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? Because I’ve gotta be honest here, had anyone said that sort of thing was frowned upon…”
  3. Here’s a hint: If you tell them you’re with the architectural team, you can get in just about anywhere. (Just saying)
  4. Here's my research: Are you a different person because of the amount of money that you either have or don't have? I'm guessing not.
  5. It’s amazing to me how many people seem to loathe other people just because they’re successful. People are people no matter of their portfolio status.
  6. Sure! The Owners had a big meeting and put a PowerPoint presentation together that told their employees ‘you need to work harder so I can vacation in Aspen’……sure, that sounds right!
  7. As has often been said….its not how much you make; it’s how much you spend. Remember that, kids! 😉
  8. Geeez….lots of Ralph hate on here. I think people need to remember that there wouldn’t be a Buffalo Bills (at least not in Buffalo) if it wasn’t for that man. And as I’ve said so many time, without the Bills, Buffalo would be Cedar Rapids.
  9. I don’t think things would be all that different if Ralph was still with us. I’m guessing he’d approve of the stadium deal with the County/State chipping in a good deal. And with the design itself not being over the top. He’d love having a quarterback locked in as the primary rainmaker. He’d also like the utility knife player extensions, investing in modest contracts as opposed to big splashes. But…I’m guessing he’d not have approved of the Von Miller deal whatsoever.
  10. I’ve looked at it pretty closely. What exactly do you think this slide is supposed to show? It’s not unusual for companies to have different business goals for different offices, or market sectors, or services.
  11. I had a long time partner who regularly brought in a ton a revenue….and just as regularly never made any money. We’d get to the end of the fiscal year and he was totally befuddled. He never did figure it out.
  12. There are always job site rumors about all sorts of stuff. From my experience few, if any, are true.
  13. Very true, but it doesn’t change my premise that successful people don’t like to lose. He can either keep beating the dead horse or come to the realization that he’s not good at running a hockey team. It’s not as if he’s only owned the team for a season or two. Maybe he should go ‘play’ with something else.
  14. Ralph is cheap!
  15. Those of course aren’t mutually exclusive ideas. In fact, I’m guessing my hypothesis is the reason for the sale. Your hypothesis is why it’s yet to have happened. 👍
  16. Lots of talk on here about the Sabres. Has anyone considered that Terry may be thinking he’s just not been that good at owning an NHL hockey team? Successful people like to be successful. They also don’t like losing. I’m guessing he’s spent more than a few nights trying to decide if he’s capable of putting a winning team on the ice. And if his conclusion is that he’s not, I wouldn’t be the least bit shocked if he says ‘I know the many things that I’m good at, and this definitely isn’t one of them’.
  17. Running a corporation is far more complicated and nuanced than the old ‘workers vs management’ that you imply.
  18. Gregg….it’s 75 and sunny here today….again. 😁 (In case you were wondering.)
  19. In the good ‘ol days the league had this same collusion meeting every year. It’s just that back then it was more accurately labeled as the “Can somebody please tell Al Davis to knock it off?” Meeting. 😉
  20. My point is that the entire league doesn’t act like individual corporations but instead like branch offices of a single, larger company. We had this same challenge in my company and we constantly had to remind the various branch managers not to get too out of line when it came to salaries, etc as it ultimately became problematic for the other branches.
  21. These issues are really complicated when it comes to an unusual business like the NFL. While yes, the teams are in quasi-competition with each other, they are NOT in open business competition. The teams depend on each other and the league as a whole benefits from an even ‘playing field’ thus shared television revenue, a weighted draft, and of course a salary cap. While I’m confident the Players Union would lobby for guaranteed contracts (that’s what a Union is supposed to do), I can also see how the Owners would get together to try and reduce such a trend. With all of that said there’s no bigger critique of the current commissioner than me, so I post this with a torn conscience.
  22. Okay….that does it! I’m officially canceling my Knighthawk streaming package.
