I think all of us fans can understand exactly where he's coming from. The stuff that gets under people's skin are the cryptic social media posts & letting speculation brew far too long. Everyone appreciates keeping it in house, but when you post the cryptic messages for millions to see, it inevitably leads to people making their own assumptions. That just opens the door for teammates & coaches to take on additional heat, and staying silent (or amplifying it with more Tweets) for months, doesn't exactly scream "keeping it in house." Anyway, still love the guy, still glad he's a Bill, and still support him 100%

Well look who has the smartest fans in football
BigDingus replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
When I was 18 I tried to light a fart on fire... while I was working at Kohl's. I was a bit too successful, as the flame exploded, then sucked itself right back into my ass through my pants! I felt like a crapped myself, but while on fire. Needless to say everyone thought I was a moron... BUT WHO'S LAUGHING NOW BABY!? I AM SMART! 😆 -
Herbert deal signed : 262M - 5 yrs extension
BigDingus replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
In a few years, Herbert's deal will look like a steal. It's all relative, as each year the contracts will get more & more insane as the cap increases. Hurts got his extension & was the highest paid ever by year. A month later, Lamar tops it. Now here we are with Herbert. I'm sure Burrow will then be the next highest paid in a little bit. -

PFF Top 50 Players for 2023 - Josh Allen at 12, Diggs at 24
BigDingus replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
Look at all those negative reactions to your post 🤣 "No, Josh doesn't need to cut down on the turnovers! It's great that he has nearly 40 in 2 years! He needs to keep leading the league in turnovers, especially the really inexplicable ones that aren't a result of pressure, great defense, or receiver screwing up!" Josh is awesome but I don't get why people are mad at you... Burrow has done more, doesn't make as many mistakes, and outplayed Josh in Buffalo last we saw them. He made a SB in year 2. He's simply done more. So basically what the post you're responding to said originally... it's always everyone else, not Allen. But when we win, it's Allen. All of the credit, none of the blame. Got it. -
Low-mid 80's would put him on par or above people like: Ed Oliver (81) Fletcher Cox (81) Arik Armstead (82) Javon Hargrave (84) Do you think he's better than them? I'm not sure, but I know overall Madden ratings are pretty conservative & lean lower than fans tend to think. Is an 87 overall rating good? Many people would say it's solid, but then you realize that's the rating they gave the Chiefs as the best team in the league. It's all relative to other players & teams (Bills have an 82 btw).
-
Which is still really good.

Convenient he didn't give a predication on WHO would win the AFC East, only that it wouldn't be the Bills. That's a pretty easy bet, just given the odds. You're essentially get 3 shots at being correct, and only 1 being wrong. It's like saying "The Chiefs won't win the Super Bowl this year!" and acting like it's a bold prediction. You're taking the field of 31 teams vs just the 1 team. Obviously, the odds are in your favor, even if KC is the best team in the league.

I think the board is making the same mistake they always do when we see the fan & media praise another QB is getting, and think it's at the expense of OUR guy. In response, we underrate these guys & cherry pick things to discredit them with. Hurts may have a better line, but that's not an indictment on him, it's credit to his front office for assembling a better team. We all thought Tua was a joke, then he suddenly played great when he was surrounded by more great players (and not concussed). People piled on Allen after his rookie year, but then a concerted effort was made to improve his WRs bringing in Beasley & Brown, followed by Diggs the next year. Suddenly, Allen goes off in 2020.... but should Ravens fans look at the Madden ratings of his WRs & say Allen deserves less credit than Lamar because his WRs were better? When I see QBs have great seasons after significant roster upgrades, it just tells me they had more potential than I otherwise gave them credit for. Despite what people think, a bad QB isn't going to magically be great just because the rest of the team is great... They can win games, sure, but it'll be clear who deserves the bulk of the credit. The 49ers are a great team, but the QB position isn't the driving factor. The Trent Dilfer Ravens won a SB, but we all know who gets the credit. Hurts is the opposite of that. Even though the team around him improved, we only now got to see the potential Hurts really had all along. Having AJ Brown or a good O-line doesn't diminish his achievements, it only shows us what his achievements can be. In the same way, Allen's achievements are diminished because we got Diggs. If our O-line suddenly improves & we win a SB, is that a knock on Allen? No. It just shows what he's capable of when given the proper foundation for success. /rant

I wouldn't be so sure... People are now saying stuff like that about Josh, but it's obviously not true. It's not like he's only getting his numbers late in the 4th quarter during blowouts against 2nd team defenses... He's accumulating those stats naturally through the progression of each game. Remember when Josh apparently couldn't win 1 score games? People were saying Kirk was a choker, but he lead the league in 4th quarter comebacks last year. Also, it's not like he fell apart in their playoff game last year. He did about all he could do. 31/39 for 273 yards, 2 TD's, 0 INT's, 112.9 RTG, with the game tied 24 - 24 in the 4th quarter. Giants go on to get another TD, and the rest is history. Not saying he's amazing, but he's still a top 10 QB easily.

I understand where you're coming from, I guess I'm just not that confident in Carr or the Saints, even if the division is weak right now. I think of the Saints more like the Commanders from a few years ago who played the Bucs in the first round. You're right about the QB contract issue, but out of the poll options, Derek Carr is the who I'm least confident in performing up to that contract. Daniel Jones seems like the easy pick, but Daboll got the most out of him in that offense, and he actually won a playoff game. Derek Carr was given the best WR in the league & did worse than the year prior. I bet if Jones was given Davante Adams this year, he'd take another big leap. Or I could just be way too down on Derek Carr after last season & be entirely off base.
-
I don't see how Derek Carr is the lowest on the list... Not saying he's bad, but nearly $40 million a year for Derek Carr? That's a crazy risk imo. I'm really pulling for him & hope he does well, but I'm just not sure they wouldn't have been better off grabbing a journeyman to fill the spot until they can find a better option.

It's so wild seeing Lubbock, TX on a big TV series like this... But then again, it's half the reason I wanted the Bills to draft Mahomes back in the day. The city is crazy passionate about football, but isn't the big market that the other Texas giants are. Was hoping the city would become Bills fans overnight, so I'd finally not be the only Bills guy in town. Now the whole damn city & every Texas Tech alumni in the state is wearing Chiefs jerseys... disgusting. It's hard to go back & visit Tech anymore seeing all the red & yellow everywhere 🤮

Allen stats compared to Peyton Manning 👀
BigDingus replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly! And remember, it wasn't long ago that teams wouldn't draft QB's who didn't play under center in college. QB's who played most of their snaps from shotgun & in spread offenses were seen as "system QB's" and treated like lepers. Defenses were more limited, offensive philosophies changed, and numbers went through the roof. As a Texas Tech alumni, our QB's were all viewed as "system" QB's... Everyone from Kliff Kingsbury to Graham Harrell weren't taken seriously. Then the league evolved, and spread offenses became widely adopted in the NFL. Texas Tech QB's suddenly weren't a pariah, and 3 QB's who started their careers at Tech went on to be drafted (Baker Mayfield, Davis Webb, Patrick Mahomes). I'm not saying all this to discredit Josh, but all you have to do is look at QB passing numbers in Peyton's first 5 years vs those in Josh's first 5 years to see there's a MASSIVE difference in how the game is played. -
But are we better than the Chiefs? There are 32 teams in the league, all with a couple good players. To have 4-5 players on there is definitely not something to scoff at.

Allen stats compared to Peyton Manning 👀
BigDingus replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is only partially true. Just look at the passing leaders for Manning's first 4 years compared to Josh's: 1998: #1 ) Brett Favre - 4,212 yards / 31 TD's / 23 INT's #2) Steve Young - 4,170 yards / 36 TD's / 12 INT's (they were the only 2 players with 4,000 yards, and only 1 more had 30+ TD's) 2018: #1) Big Ben - 5,129 yards / 34 TD's / 16 INT's #2) Mahomes - 5,097 yards / 50 TD's / 12 INT's (plus 10 more players with over 4,000 yards & 7 more players with 30+ TD's) ******************************* 1999: #1) Steve Beurelein - 4,436 yards / 36 TD's / 15 INT's #2) Kurt Warner - 4,353 yards / 41 TD's 13 INT's (plus 3 more players with 4,000 yards, and nobody else with 30+ TD's) 2019: #1) Jameis Winston (LOL) - 5,109 yards / 33 TD's / 30 INT's #2) Dak Prescott - 4,902 yards / 30 TD's / 11 INT's (plus 9 more players with 4,000 yards, and 3 more with 30+ TD's) ******************************* 2000: #1) Peyton Manning - 4,413 yards / 33 TD's / 15 INT's #2) Jeff Garcia - 4,278 yards / 31 TD's / 10 INT's (plus 1 more player with 4,000 yards, and 1 more with 30+ TD's) 2020: #1) Deshaun Watson - 4,823 yards / 33 TD's / 7 INT's #2) Mahomes - 4,740 yards / 38 TD's / 6 INT's Bonus: Aaron Rodgers - 4,299 yards / 48 TD's / 5 INT's (plus 9 more with 4,000 yards, and 8 more with 30+ TD's...including 3 with 40+ TD's) ******************************* 2001: #1) Kurt Warner - 4,830 yards / 36 TD's / 22 INT's #2) Peyton Manning - 4,131 yards / 26 TD's / 23 INT's (0 more with 4,000 yards, and 2 more with 30+ TD's) 2021: #1) Tom Brady - 5,316 yards / 43 TD's / 12 INT's #2) Justin Herbert - 5,014 yards / 38 TD's / 15 INT's (plus 8 more with 4,000 yards, and 7 more with 30+ TD's) ******************************* So the league was MASSIVELY different in Manning's early career compared to Josh. Of the above years I compared, 1999 was the only year 5 players breaking 4,000 yards... In 2001, only TWO players did that. Zero QB's broke 40 TD's besides Warner in '99, but today you have QB's breaking 5,000 yards & 50 TD's! And that's only comparing passing stats! If you add rushing, QB's today go even crazier. Efficiency has also gone up a ton (aside from Jameis Winson). In 2001, both passing leaders had over 20 INT's to go with their 4,000 yard seasons. Today, Josh is known as a "turnover machine" with 15 INT's + 6 fumbles. Aaron Rodgers threw for 48 TD's to 5 INT's! Again, the rule changes aren't the issue. It's the offenses, playcalling & coaches that have changed, combined with the people playing QB compared to 20 years ago. -
The Chiefs just won a Super Bowl, and they only have 5 on the list. If we kept Edmunds, we'd also have 5.

Predicting Big 2023 Season for Kaiir Elam and James Cook
BigDingus replied to RoyBatty is alive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, it's a pretty silly reaction. I try to be honest, but lately I've noticed myself hold back my real opinion on certain things just to avoid that kind of whiny response. Then again, I understand an online message board is probably where the most diehard fans & biggest homers hangout, so it kind of comes with the territory. -

GDT: USFL Championship - BHM vs PIT 8pm NBC
BigDingus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again? Didn't they already finish their season? Now I'm confused... -
BBMB closed like 7 years ago... so you average what, 10 posts a year? Guessing even if your post count did carry over, that'd bump you up to around 150 posts combined 😆

GDT: USFL Championship - BHM vs PIT 8pm NBC
BigDingus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't even realize the USFL was in season. Whoops. -
This thread is another symptom of the mindset "QB gets credited for everything," regardless of good or bad. To say "Tyrod got us to the playoffs" feels dirty. He will always have my thanks for contributing to that, but leading the league's 1st or 2nd worst passing offense for years doesn't quite feel worthy of crediting him for sneaking into the playoffs, especially when it ultimately came down to a crazy upset that even made it possible.
