He's on pace for 1100 yds rushing 400-500 yds receiving and is a major focal point of the offense. Assuming the Bills draft a new QB why would they dump an incredible asset that takes pressure off of the kid when he has shown zero signs of slowing down cap space be damned. If you are the GM wouldn't you rather your rookie QB has Benjamin, Jones, McCoy, & Clay as his weapons to start?

Shaq Lawson and Jordan Matthews to IR

Hard for me not to feel as though the plan is set to try and stay at 6 wins for draft reasons. I expect to hear that Peterman is starting the rest of the season because Taylor is out and not "completely" healthy. -
Why don't the bills get more Monday night games?
corta765 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty simple because of the number of years we have been irrelevant we are not a big ratings team. It isn't a surprise that when Rex came here we got a game each year because he attracts media. Additionally the NFL no longer has it mandatory that every team plays a night game due to ratings falling. I would expect more of the same 12-14 teams next year as they fight the ratings. Game quality frankly doesn't matter its market/relevance, the NFL could care less how many entertaining games we have had. AND it is well known the Bills very much prefer 1pm games at home which is why even for TNF we are on the road more then home. Because of the distance fans drive from all over they do try to accommodate for that. I know the team in general prefers having 5 of their home games in Sept-Oct because of weather and travel. Add in fan behavior being at nights game at home also and you have your answer of why it is so infrequent. Personally I hate playing at 1 pm every Sunday and wish we had a 4-5 4 pm games along with 2 night games a year but I don't run any of that. Oh yea thats a big thing too. The stadium is an absolute b*tch for night games to setup, networks hate it and that is a major factor also. -
The luster loses it shine when you realize how close we were to breaking the drought in a year with a weak AFC and schedule that offered that chance assuming they don't make it in. I agree progress has been made but it is also very possible that we actually have a worse record next year despite a better roster.

I get you you especially on this. What really sucks is they seem to most likely be blowing a insanely easy year and chance to make the the playoffs. If either CIN or NYJ were a W people would be excited right now even after this loss. Sadly even at 9-7 we need a bunch to go our way. And that is why I didn't want to trade Watkins, he would've given the offense another weapon and with Benjamin out they still don't have a guy to stretch it or go up for 50/50 balls.

And this is why when Whaley went on his spending spree's/Dareus contract signed people said they better win and perform otherwise it will bite them hard. Bradham, Gilislee & Woods are guys who our cap cost us losing them more than anything else. Watkins production didn't warrant the contract he wants and the potential for injury because of previous seasons made sense in trading him. I still would not have traded him but I do get the logic and the return was good. Dareus was traded because of the contract more then his play. It's not entirely fair to blame McD/Beane for the current situation when they basically were handcuffed because of the previous GM's $ decisions. I hated losing Woods & Bradham because they were consistent solid performers you need for a good team. It's easy to look and say well this guy is doing well over here we should have kept him. The Patriots have lots of guys every year that show up outta nowhere because they have a good roster that allows fringe players to be highlighted. Your mad about Ragland but I am more mad they didn't keep Zach Brown who wasnt expensive. And not starting Milano will haunt them soon. Overall its a mix bag and a lot of the current problems/decisions made stem because of the previous guy. The fastest way to reset the deck was to free up a lot of cap and use some vets on the fly to stay alive. This off season as I have posted is where the real work and impact good or bad will come from.
-
At least in regards to Eric Lee I would say use extreme caution emotionally. Every year we play the Patriots and some unknown from us or someone else has a big game because that is what they do. They are very well coached and have a lot of good players so even fringe guys have banner days. Jerry Sullivan use to do an article every season of the RB's who have ran for over 100 yds against BUF from NE alone and the amount of no namers is amazing. It's gotten to the point with the Patriots I void myself of any reaction to their games because its like playing on a different universe.

Probably because if you had any reading comprehension he said as much after the game that he was pissed wanted to hit him but didn't intended to hurt him. In Moore's case by Bertuzzi it was known before the game that they wanted to get him back and take him out. That's premeditated. And Gronks hit didn't do the same to White. If White had a broken neck and taken out on a stretcher yea I'd want criminal charges. That's not the case and context matters.

BS. I play hockey and have seen guys run another during a game with a clear intent to injure. I have seen the same after the whistle is blowing or a stick swung to injure. So no I don't separate the game from when the play happens and after because in both cases people act like complete jack a**es. Bertuzzi straight up mugged Moore during the game while the happening and broke his neck. I've said repeatedly Gronks play was stupid and dangerous. I do not believe it was done with intent to injure however, I do believe he wanted to hit him because he was pissed off he even said as much after.. That doesn't matter because the outcome took our guy out and he should be suspended 3-5 games. Burfict's hit on Brown could've killed or broke his neck and his track record says as much that he is a straight thug when he plays.
-
Makes no difference to me dirty is dirty whether during the play or after and stupidity happens regardless. If we are going to start saying people should be arrested for assault after plays the same can be applied during the game. It was an awful dirty play that occurred in the long list of ones done by players in the NFL and sports in general. If he receives a one game suspension or none then yea I'll be mad as hell. But otherwise if he gets a few games then it is what it is from there. I would expect the Bills to probably take some liberties comes the 24th though and if I was coach of the Bills I'd tell my players to do as much.
-
If you can't separate yes Gronk was frustrated for how he was being covered and that is understandable from but he shouldn't have done that please stop reading and go to bed. Virtually everyone I have read has stated as much that it was a blatant cheap shot because the dude lost his cool. Guess what it happens all the time in sports across the board. Doesn't make it anymore right but Gronk is on a long list of idiots who did something stupid and now will face what should be massive repercussions that could cost his team home field in the playoffs.
-
Agreed it was an emotional dirty play and he even admitted as much when interviewed. He should be suspended for games if not the remainder of the season until playoffs. But this crap that it was "criminal" and "assault" is just insane. Really stupid emotional plays that are dangerous and dirty happen in sports. In response so do massive suspensions. At the same point you cannot start to regulate things with the law with athletes who are at their max emotionally. The bigger outrage should be if the NFL only suspends him a game or none at all. Examples need to be set especially with head hits. If Gronk is out the remainder of the season or at least misses the Pittsburgh game and NE loses that is a massive blow to the Pats to have to go on the road for the AFC title game.

Don't tell me pressure doesnt work against Brady!!
corta765 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is a difference between pressure and blitzing. When Brady has failed it has been against 4/5 man fronts with exotic schemes that force him to take an extra second to look at the field while the pressure beats his line up front. Otherwise against the blitz he has something like 70 TDs and zero INTs. So yea blitzing is bad. -
I think as Bills fans its our duty to go tailgate before the parade if it does happen to offer support in the form of broken tables and people on fire. Respectfully my $.02

Apparently the offense is holding Tyrod back
corta765 replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The article itself actually has a solid concept in the idea that teams need to develop QBs more and the expectation of just finding with ease a franchise QB with no need to development is foolish. BUT yea this part stuck out like a sore thumb. The writer completely ignores that Roman after year 1 with Tyrod which he created an offense that was made to his best qualities in year 2 tried to develop Tyrod into a pocket passer. Taylor could not and did not develop. It gets really frustrating to hear from the media that the Bills should just be grateful for Tyrod and be done with it. For the record I had zero issue with Taylor coming back even next year to let the rookie QB we have develop but that bridge is smoldering thanks to Peterman coming in when he did. I am not sure why the Bills should be forced to settle with an average QB that at times plays above average. I am a Tyrod fan but he isn't the long term either. -

As one of the survivors from BBMB I greatly enjoy the threads here. In general they are far better and more entertaining. Haha I loved that thread. I am leaving but I of course have to make a post stating why I am leaving. -
Is anyone here really a Tyrod fan?
corta765 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So I am a Tyrod fan but I also know his strengths and weaknesses. Given this coaching staff and the offensive scheme that is being run he isn't a great fit and is better off somewhere else. His first year here we had our most talent on offense as a whole and the scheme was perfect for him. I think someone can replicate that again but they have to be willing and I still only think he can win you the first round in the playoffs. Against the big boys in the later rounds you have to be able to pass for more then 250 yards. Soo I guess I'm a fan but realistic also to what he is and what he can't do.
