I keep hearing the bolded. I've watched all of those guys. For starters, it's super early. I know you're not saying that in a definitive way, but some Pats fans are. As in, "we got the best rookie QB," and not, "he looks better up to this point." But he hasn't shown much aside from a little poise in the pocket, and that he can be really accurate on short passes. Guys like Lawrence have been asked to do much more, and have shown that they CAN do much more, in terms of a larger repetoire of passes, a better deep ball, running, etc. Even Wilson did a lot more yesterday than Mac is asked to do. I like Mac, and think you got a good one. But he was always the most pro ready. The other guys will improve a lot more, and have a broader skill set to do so.

Jones has a little bit of Pennington in him. I doubt he'll be a bust - but I also doubt he'll be elite. He can can keep the Pats competitive as long as BB is there (and maybe beyond if the next coach is good). He's not the hardest QB to defend - doesn't have a long ball, and can't really move in the pocket, though he had a couple of plays where he was able to be elusive. And he is no run threat at all. The division is shaping up to be pretty good in the years ahead. Not this year obviously, but there are some good young players. It would have been fun to coast through a lame division every year like the Pats were able to during the dynasty years, but getting back to some good rivalry games will be fun, too.

Honestly, looking around the league - we MAY be the best team right now. It's October, and of course, it's better to be the best in January & February. But I can't see another team I'd be afraid of, or that I think the Bills wouldn't be favored over...
-
Nah. You definitely would have seen it up to 2007. Not really beyond that. But what's the logic? That because it happened w/ Brady, it will happen to Mac? The natural progression is dink & dunk, to throwing longer passes, to being the greatest of all time?
-
Well, enjoy the cellar. Oh, and BB has lost it too. That final decision was terrible.
-
And he didn't do that either. Why do you guys come here trying to convince us you're still good? You're 1-3, and tied for last place. We're coasting. See ya next year.
-
Um, YOU were the one who said he outplayed Tom Brady. I was just correcting you.
-
What's up w/ BB? That was a ridiculous decision at the end. On a clear night, maybe. But your best shot to win there is going for it on 4th.
-
Kind of what I thought - on Pats boards, they're over the moon about Mac and saying he's gonna bring them 6 more titles. 5 yard passes and 2 TD's per game? Sign me up.
-
No, he isn't. Brady was making the long throws. Mac, not so much.
-
He's not beating Brady. He's beating a Tampa D w/ no secondary.
-
Collinsworth really has to stop. Isn't someone on the TV crew alerting him to how over-the-top this is?
-
I think to put Mac in perspective - Jimmy G. would likely be doing the same thing now if he was still on the Pats. Those drives are 90% coaching and playcalling. I'm impressed w/ some of the poise, but when he's gotten pressure, he's not the same QB.
-
Have you guys ever seen a rookie QB lead 2 scoring drives before? WOW.
-
I normally like Collinsworth more than most - but he is laying it on THICK.
-
Mac is benefitting from a pretty injured Bucs secondary. It's really hard to tell if he's good or not. That O is coached perfectly to put him in a place to succeed.
-
I was kinda hoping Brady would do to the Pats what he did to us for 2 decades. Oh, well.
-
It's weird how hard I'm rooting for Brady. But man, if the Pats win and Mac plays well, the hype will be intolerable. Put that team at 1-3. Coast to division title.
-
No, Mac Jones isn't good. Richard Sherman is out of shape.

10/3/21 Gameday Bills vs. Texans 2nd Half Thread

We're not complaining about a 19 point lead, are we? I'm kind of glad Bass is getting a workout. I don't want to get to the playoffs w/ him having just a few kicks under his belt. He's still young, and every one of these builds confidence. -

I really felt like Knox could develop into this kind of player. He has all of the skills, and has the toughness you want in a TE. -
Who is more important: Belichick vs. Brady?
Success replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These 2 men have practically ruined the NFL. It's really all about them at this point. It was really the combo, just like Walsh/Montana. Neither is as good on their own. People say Brady won a SB without Bill - but the Buc D won that game. Can't wait until they're both retired. Which reminds me - for the Pats/Bills matchup at home, I'd love it if we had some signs to counter the Patriots fans tired "we're still here!" thing. Maybe "you're not here anymore," or "where are you now?" Those seem lame. Open to suggestions. -
Patriots* Fan Trolls Belichick with Billboard

BB's schtick is so old at this point. We get it: you don't like the media. Tough. The NFL is insanely popular largely because of the media. You get paid a ton of money because of that popularity. All you're asked to do is answer a few questions once in awhile. I'd love to see the Pats become so irrelevant that even the media doesn't care about them anymore. The more time goes on, the more clear it becomes that Brady was a huge part of BB's success. It was always the combo, but having a GOAT QB taking pay cuts to clear cap space, and attracting FA's who were willing to take pay cuts to play w/ the GOAT, made BB the GM's job a heck of a lot easier. It also made it easier having a guy at QB who could consistently pull victory from the jaws of defeat.
