Josh Allen is looking a lot more like the 2019 version
Success replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen is awesome. There are no style points in football. We won 35-0, he ran the offense. -
I suppose - but enough of the hype. They have him throwing 5-yard outs constantly. Pats fans online are already saying they have the better QB than the Jets...based on TODAY. That's how knowledgeable the fanbase is about football.

It's supposed to be one of the best Oline's in the league. Jones is a game manager.

Mac Jones is Jimmy G. The Pats coach their QB's to be as accurate as they are. Watching highlights from that game, they really protect Jones. He doesn't have to do anything close to what Lawrence, Wilson & the rest are asked to do.

When we're up 35-0, and he played pretty well? Yeah - it's too much of an overreaction to be "frustrated" 2 games in. -

It could be tough if we keep holding Josh to the standard he set in 2020. This probably is a regression kind of year. But he's still doing things out there that most QB's can't do. -

This is what we all needed to see. Tough division opponent at their place, and we went in there and left zero doubt from the 1st minute. We're still among the NFL's elite. -

Does Allen look good enough for everyone now? We sounded like Pats fans in that 1st half. -
I travel quite a bit (or used to before the pandemic), and airports were always like that. Seeing someone wearing a Bills hat or T was like seeing family, and I'd always fall into a conversation right away with whoever it was, like we'd known each other for years. I guess people could say that other fanbases are like this too - but the shared experience of Bills fans is very unique, imo.

Inactivating Zach Moss
Success replied to ThurmanThomasEnglishMuffin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True to an extent - but imo, Moss brings something that Singletary & Breida don't. He's just a tougher runner, and better for short yardage. I feel like Singletary needs to be in space to be the most effective. He's not our "run up the middle" guy. I felt like we really missed Moss on 4th and short last week. -
Tough loss for the Giants, but I thought Jones looked good. I'm rooting for him - pundits have been really hard on him w/ all of the hot takes & it's always nice when a player proves them wrong. Sloppy play on their side.

Team culture has changed. What about the fan culture?
Success replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean, the Red Sox have won 4 championships since 2004 - and their fans still go instant doom when the team loses. Especially to the Yankees. Some things become genetic. It will take a LOT of wins for Bills fans to fundamentally change their outlook (imo). We're more optimistic in general, but all it takes is a loss like this past Sunday for doubt to creep in & say, "hey, I've been here all along." -
Does anyone else sort of avoid this place after a loss?
Success replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like others, there are certain things I stay away from. Especially now. Ironically - and this is in no way comparing one great season to what the Pats had - but I do kind of see the typical Pats fan perspective on hot-take nation now. Every time that team started slow, every pundit and opposing fan was ready to scream "overrated" and put some dirt on their coffin. Which of course they generally swept off pretty quickly. I stayed away from everything this past week, except this board. Some of the takes on this board were ludicrous, but in general, we have really knowledgeable & level-headed fans. -

Man, if we lose on Sunday, I won't be able to watch the national sports media again for at least a few months.... -

(shakes fists at sky) Why do think think that downstate NY would be more interested in Bucs/Falcons than the Bills? Maddening. Back to the pub. I drink too much at the pub. I also eat too much. -
Can the Bills win a SB without a killer instinct
Success replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The "Hail Murray" would have derailed just about every single drought-era Bills team. It galvanized the current team. Instead of folding or letting down, they went on one of the most amazing runs the franchise has seen to win every game until the AFCCG. So, I'm not sure how one defines "killer instinct." To me, that's it. -
I was ready to be dismissive of this as a typical overreaction/hot take - but it's a really detailed and thoughtful article. I thought Allen might actually improve from last year, given the trajectory. That probably wasn't realistic. Nor do I think he's really regressing in any kind of alarming way. I still see him as one of the top QB's in the league. The Bills will adjust. Other teams' fans like to say things like "the Steelers just gave the league the blueprint on how to beat the Bills," but as the article mentions, that won't be easy for most defenses to do. At the end of the season, we may look back on Pittsburgh as one of the best defenses that we played.

Inactivating Zach Moss
Success replied to ThurmanThomasEnglishMuffin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless Moss regressed, he HAS to be in there every game going forward. We can't go into a game without a guy for short yardage. And he can do a lot more than that. That decision will never sit well w/ me - not that I know better than the coaches, but I feel like they didn't take this 1st game as seriously as they should have. -
For 2 decades, I was longing for an offense that would have a more wide open air attack & mix it up w/ trick plays and innovative schemes. Now, that seems to be all we do. There is a happy medium between the drought years and our current O. We have got to establish a legit running game. We don't have the best RB's in the league, but that is no excuse: this team has to run more.

Happy for Zay - what a moment! That's one he'll remember for years...

Good post. It's weird getting used to big expectations, and the Bills being a target instead of under the radar. I have to credit Pittsburgh. That was a game where I have no excuses to offer - no bad officiating, no lucky play. WE had a chance to put them away early, but we let them hang around - and they do what good teams do when their opponent allows that. They took it.
