Halftime Adjustments a Myth! (Per Peyton Manning)
Matt_In_NH replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall
With the amount of resources (people/money/technology) there is no way teams wait til halftime to make adjustments. I am sure some happen at halftime but some happen at 9:31 of Q2 also and pretty much any time they can change the plan strategically. What do you think is happening when guys have tablets and coaches have the position group together? There is just as much ore more time between drives. -
As much as I want this to be a good thing, the track record seems to be the opponent OL is weak/hurting but gets the job done anyway.

Will your respect for Tom Brady change when he retires?
Matt_In_NH replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
It could go the way it went for Brees. One and done. -
I really think it is a fine line of Josh sometimes trying to do too much. You want to reign that in when bad things happen but you also don't want to prevent the amazing plays he makes. But you dont know if he will make an incredible play or a negative play. For me, there is an element of knowing down/distance/situation Josh needs to take into account. There are times you just take a negative play, for instance take a sack or throw the ball away instead of trying to fight out of the tackle of a CB and fumbling/making it a total disaster. It's not fun or sexy but punting is ok sometimes.

The 15 point swing that turned a blowout into a nailbiter

The bills had a perfect storm of lack of execution, bad timing and poor decisions but still managed to win. -
Play Clock Solution / Delay of Game
Matt_In_NH replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree with the sentiment. The timeouts arw tough because the coaches are calling them eight as the clock hits zero. The part that always gets me is the magical quarter to half second when it hits zero that is given. It happens for all teams the ref gets the time from seeing zero to turning his head to see if the ball is snapped. This is not 1970 anymore we have technology for this. -
There are stats to tell whatever story you want to hear. Personally I wont be satisfied if they are the best rated team next week but lose the game. There are a lot of things that stats dont take into account. For instance up by three and you go bomb, bomb, attempted bomb/sack, punt. That looks like 2 incompletes and a sack. What about the decision making? Dont make as many mistakes as last week and just win the games. Looking at it optimistically, maybe some adversity vs Miami will be a bit of a wake up call that they might not be able to overcome vs Cinci or KC.

Is it just me or do we always let offenses convert 3rd downs on us?
Matt_In_NH replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall
The stats say you probably have unrealistic expectations. But it does seem that way sometimes. -
I hate when he does that in OBL. I have heard highlights and I like the screaming for the PBP but the corny sayings just kills it
-
I like the yelling to a point but the highlights from yesterday have a bunch of corny crap that makes me cringe. Off the top of my head: Get a fire extinguisher Milano is hotter than a firecracker he fired a 23 yard missile Cook scores we are cooking with gas he also likes to use the word city to describe a lot of something. For instance “turnover city” he needs to knock that off

Billboard to get a message to the team — what would you say?

Take what they give you and don't turn the ball over. -
NFL greed and when will you turn it off?
Matt_In_NH replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall
Games have been targeted and mostly hit 3 hours to 3 hours 15 minutes for several decades. When the trend gets higher they make adjustments. Sometimes in a particular game like yesterday when the Dolphins could not get play calls in they continuously used the entire play clock and plays started but then there was a timeout or a penalty they go long. The games getting longer and longer is and more and more commercials is not a thing. -
Josh Allen Bashers, what's your solution?
Matt_In_NH replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall
First even though I am responding to this thread I am NOT a Josh Allen basher. I think he is the best thing that has happened to this franchise ever. However he took too many chances today and was singularly responsible for the dolphins being in the game. We have seen josh try to do too much and today was one of those. We have seen him be calm and make good decisions and that is the josh we need next week. i also give credit to the dolphins for bringing a high variance game plan that invited mistakes and it worked. -
He has to go forward not up. That was not at all close enough to do that.
