  1. I actually think Allen will have more time to throw in the NFL and his WRs will probably create more separation. People just assume because he was playing in a bad conference that his job as the QB would be easier. That is not the case. 41% pressure rate would get in any QBs head, combining that with WRs being blanketed and that is a tough combo. The QB position is very reliant on the talent around them. I honestly dont think Rosen or Mayfield would have done better than Allen on Wyoming. Darnold may have done better because he has better anticipation than Allen at this point.
  2. The passes I saw that were inaccurate were usually swing passes. I do think he gets lazy with his mechanics in that area of the field. I also see him throw the ball too hard on shorter throws, he needs to work on his touch throws. The cool thing about Allen is you can see him throw into very tight windows (because his WRs were terrible) accurately on tape. I think his accuracy will look much better than people think by the time the season starts. I saw inaccuracy on Kizers tape last year and Jackson’s tape this year. The only area I felt Allen was inaccurate was swing passes. I also got ripped on last year for saying Watson was a very accurate QB. If I am wrong though we are in big trouble because inaccurate QBs don’t make it in the NFL.
  3. I think he jumped the gun. He had a great role here behind Shady and if he stayed I think he would have had another great statistical season and a solid payday in front of him. He is not going to get paid anymore after being cut by the Pats. I would take him back though.
  4. I have been hoping we would sign him. We are probably his best fit. I still think Dez can be a productive number 2 WR in this league.
  5. He made a horrible decision going to the Pats, that is on him.
  6. Allen does not have accuracy issues, it is a lazy evaluation where people just look at his completion percentage and assume he has accuracy issues. He does miss some routine throws, especially when his footwork gets sloppy. I don't think he misses them at an unusually high rate or anything. I voted for reading a defense because Allen has not shown he can do that on a consistent basis. Allen needs to work on four things to be great IMO: 1) Get into a rhythm early - he needs to focus on easy completions and first downs early in the game 2) Don't force the big play- too often Allen looks past the check down to try and force a downfield throw. 3) Footwork and timing- if he trusts his footwork and throws with a little more anticipation the short throws will be completed more often 4) Know when to give up on a play- He is going to take too many sacks if he runs around as much as he did in college I have seen that drop percentage stat being thrown around, but it is wrong. Allen's WRs had a very high drop percentage. They probably average around 4 drops per game, the Hawaii game was one of the worst, I counted 5 drops on 19 attempts. I don't think Allen's accuracy will be an issue at all, people are going to be surprised by that at training camp.
  7. I was a huge Watson fan, but he was not an option. You can't draft a QB without a GM in place. Unless they wanted to keep Whaley longterm they had to wait until this year to draft a QB.
  8. Wyoming was 8-3 (losses to Iowa, Oregon, and Boise St) with Josh Allen as the starting QB this year, 0-2 without him. As a Junior Allen went 8-6 (close losses in the championship game and the bowl game to finish the season). Wyoming went 2-10 without Josh Allen in 2015. With Josh Allen, they went 16-9 Without Josh Allen, they went 2-12. There is obviously something there that doesn't show up on a throwing statistic stat sheet.
  9. Exactly let’s hope we have that special player that is an outlier. That is all we can do at this point.
  10. I don’t really feel like looking it up. Ben won on his rookie deal, Brady has always had a mid level QB contract, Manning was coming off neck surgery so I think he was only around 18 mil, and Brees was on his first free agent contract I believe before he broke the bank. I think Brady, Flacco, Wentz, and Wilson all prove that you are more likely to win with a smaller QB contract.
  11. These contracts are crazy. I think the best plan is to try and win a super bowl with a QB on a rookie deal. Bills have a five year super bowl window starting now.
  12. Allen is a huge risk, no doubt. I had trouble evaluating him in the predraft process because he is the most talented QB I have ever seen. His 2017 tape was not good, but was also tough to evaluate because his WRs were not open and his line was brutal. Off of the tape I had him as the 6th ranked QB in this class. So I would not be shocked if he busts, but I would also not be surprised if he is a top 5 QB in the NFL. I don’t think there are any prospects comparable to him in the last 25 years. He will be an interesting case to see if someone can develop at the NFL level. It is rarely done, but if anyone is going to do it Allen will be the guy.
  13. Such a good throw
  14. All QBs have a good chance of busting. The 1st round bust rate is around 60% for QBs. Allen has some traits that give him a chance. There are no guarantees unfortunately.
  15. Hea really only had 2 years of training. I think he will develop most of his habits the next couple years.
  16. Or he just comes from a really small town. I love late bloomers, they often tend to be the elite players that are steals in the draft
  17. Josh Allen will not look good on analytics. There is no system that is perfect. Allen is an elite talent and has a good chance to be an exception to all analytics.
  18. I would say often the best coaches are not the best players. Those type of guys made it to the league because of their football smarts making up for deficiencies in their athletic ability. Senior bowl. It means much more to me than the pro bowl. At the senior bowl you have a bunch of kids going 100% to try and make an impression on NFL coaches. I wouldn’t down play it like that.
  19. He made a huge jump working with Palmer this offseason. If he has a similar jump in training camp and year 1 we are going to have a very special franchise QB. He he also has our DNA. This team will have an identity this year. We are going to maximize our skill with hard work and when the other team takes a play off we will capitalize. This team is going to be very hard to beat at home.
  20. I also think it is important to find WRs with outstanding hands. Allen throws with a lot of velocity. If a WR has drop issues it will happen more often with Allen’s velocity.
  21. That would be my guess. I think Darnold and Allen were the top two. Their grades must have been pretty close between the two otherwise I think they would have mortgaged the future and traded up to two.
  22. Mayfield had that issue all season. His average time before throwing was over 3 seconds. He won’t have that type of time in the NFL. If he is going to be successful at the NFL level he needs to make quicker decisions. The senior bowl is useful. It is really nothing like a pro bowl. Everyone is giving 100% effort since they are applying for NFL jobs. The schemes are basic so there is no hiding flaws. You have to go one on one against someone and beat them.
  23. Do you think the Bills had Allen number 1?
