  1. Have you watched the Pro-Bowl in the last 15 years - or a preseason game - heck even a week 17 game when everything is locked up. Teams and players go onto the field and give a fraction of their effort at various times now in meaningless games. The Pro-Bowl players are notorious for only giving a small fraction of their effort. Even if you give an extra draft pick - that is a disincentive for the players - that is another high pick to potentially replace a current player that is risking injury in a totally meaningless game. I could see the NFL try something right up until a player blows out a knee and therefore misses the start of the next year in a 3rd place game and that leads to these players losing out on contracts and the NFLPA going WTF are you doing? It is part of the reason the Pro-Bowl is dying off - we do not need another meaningless games. If you want something to fill this week - get rid of the week off and play the Super Bowl - other than that - let it go. I would rather see more college players practicing and getting ready for the draft than a 3rd place NFL game.
  2. Nope - not something I would be a fan of. Seems like a waste and another chance to get injured. If you had a way to make it so the winner of the loser bracket got another shot at the SuperBowl title - then maybe, but for third place - you are better off losing for the draft pick.
  3. I think they look for a cheap back-up at QB as they already have Fromm and Webb. If they can find someone better cheap - ok, but my guess is they have 3 guys they are comfortable with if needed. RB they have 4 guys - I don’t know what their thoughts on Wade really are, but my guess is the top 3 set them up and if they can find another cheap vet or a draft pick they will be set. WR - I think Roberts is gone and they would like McKittrick (LOL) back, but I think like Milano - they will let him look at FA and see what offers he gets. That is the position they will look to replace either via the draft or FA - speed WR with return ability and can run the jet sweeps. My guess is it is McKittrick back and we are set. TE - I know everyone wants better production, but I really think unless someone falls in the draft and can’t be passed up - your TE room is set with the 5 guys they have - assuming Sweeney clears health wise - which I would expect. OL is a mess and I expect that to get the most attention. I think they will work hard to re-sign Williams and Mongo to have some continuity, but I expect them to lose depth and need to find depth from the draft or cheap FA. This is where we need to figure out how to proceed and make sure we protect our QB. DE - I think Murphy is gone - that leaves you 6 guys - maybe some restructuring of contracts, but I expect help comes from the draft. DT - I think one or 2 may be cut or restructured to free up money - I think they have some options, but I don’t expect wholesale changes - it will be Oliver/Phillips and hopefully some depth. LB - I think they want Milano back, but will let him test FA - I think they will be looking for help here - draft picks/veteran FA something to help cover their weakness. Maybe a cut of a guy like Klein or a restructured contract to help afford others. CB and Safeties- I think the contracts say it all - UFA’s are gone and they draft for depth. The numbers are ok in each spot. Special Teams - you try to keep them all by re-signing your RFA and they should be set. I think the team we saw in 2020 will be mostly identical to the 2021 team with minor tweaks along the way. I do not see many big changes coming as the Salary Cap will prevent that, but I think they will work hard to keep a good group together.
  4. 🤦‍♂️ Good for you.
  5. Yep - he did that on a team with one of the top 2 or 3 best run blocking O-Lines and the very best run game coordinator in the NFL - by far. Switch him and Moss and who has the better season - switch him and Singletary and who has the better season. My guess is Moss and Singletary on Baltimore average much closer to 6 YPC than Dobbins does in Buffalo. Dobbins also came out a lot on 3rd down as it looked like he struggled on pass pro and was Singletary esq on receiving. In games against teams like Indy, Tenn, NE and even the Browns and Philadelphia - Dobbins was not even pedestrian as a RB. Yes he dominated against teams like the Bengals, but he was not anything special in most games and for many games Gus Edwards (a classic JAG) was just as good or better. My belief is if we had drafted Dobbins and not Epenesa - we would be sitting here with the same RB questions and needing 2 young DEs.
  6. Really? Dobbins on the best running team in the NFL did not outperform the 2 guys we had. He also looked really uncomfortable trying to catch swing passes this year. I think we would have been maybe a slight upgrade on Singletary on this team and really would have been a huge disappointment. Helaire looked better catching passes, but he also wasn’t a bell cow back. He is part of a group much like in Buffalo and may not be the best back on that team for their style of offense.
  7. I agree and I think the fact the NFL got in all the games and even had some fans will help more than their worst case scenario. I also would not be shocked if they come to an agreement to push up slightly this year and artificially lower next years money trying to balance it out - as long as each ownership group has enough solvent cash to move forward.
  8. It doesn’t, but 17 years with Andy Reid and then you branch out with added responsibilities on another couple of playoff teams - maybe that helps out. Plus being a minority coach might help fulfill what Watson is looking for, but fills it with a guy that is not just standing next to Reid on the sidelines at the moment. I think it is another in a bad line of hires, but it is definitely outside the normal box and checks off several of the Watson complaints.
  9. Based upon the NFL/NFLPA agreement - they set 175 million as a floor with the ability to offset additional losses in the next couple of years. The NFL and NFLPA can agree on a higher value, but they also have to agree to offsets to make up the difference - it will need to be negotiated. The players want the higher salary cap sooner, but the NFL has to balance how much they are losing to ensure that every team can maintain and be competitive. It will be interesting to see where they land and how much below 175 million the cap would have been and how much offset the teams need to cover now before getting the extra profit later. Especially for teams like the Rams and Raiders that built new stadiums, but got a year with no fans - just added costs.
  10. Nope - absolutely the wrong take 100%. Just like Tre, Mahomes, and scores of others you re-sign him now along with activating his 5th year option. You give him big money up front, but it gets spread out over more years - therefore keeping his 4th year and 5th year option deals at a lower salary - just like Tre and Mahomes. This pushes his bigger salary out to 2023 after the new TV contract is signed and when the salary cap explodes and therefore you have the added money. The timing is perfect to do it now - lock in the money - and defer the big cost until after the new TV deal is complete - win/win.
  11. Do the Bills have a 30 million QB and a 20 million WR? The answer is no and this thread is pure crap 💩. You are creating something to be upset about that is not even going to happen - pure idiocy. These are the types of threads where the starter should just get banned for pure trolling because although he has already been shown to be wrong - he keeps arguing for nothing. Just give it up and crawl back under your 💩. 👋👋 - so long.
  12. You do realize that much like White (and Mahomes) they will extend Allen meaning his 4th year (next year) and his 5th year deals will be significantly under 30 million a season. Any Allen contract is not going to be a big hit until 2023. It will allow him to get more upfront, but spread that hit out of 10+ years. Relax and look at the Mahomes template. 🤦‍♂️
  13. So go join their board and maybe explain to them your fascination with RBs. Maybe with their QB they will be a run first team for you to enjoy. 👋👋👋
  14. Why do you think Stills would sign for half the money? He was paid very similar to Brown for last year by Houston. I would assume he is looking for 7+ million as a FA with speed on the outside. He could end up a replacement, but I don’t think you end up saving much between him and Brown and I think he is a lesser player than Brown overall.
  15. So your plan is to create 4 new openings on DLine (plus Murphy as a UFA), a spot at center, and number 2 WR to create ~40 million in space, but 6 new positions at minimum that need to be filled. How much are you spending on the new guys? @ngbills Unless you are going bare bones minimum salary on DLine (which would be worse players than you are cutting) - you are just spinning your tires at that position. Why cut unless you have a better alternative in place. Let’s look at with Morse - save 5 million, but lose your starting Center - what are you replacing him with. Feliciano? FA? Draft Pick? Are you getting better or did you create a hole without being able to fill it? Chances are very good that you either are spending more than you saved or you are replacing him with a back-up level Center hurting the line. Brown - save 8 million - what is your replacement @ngbills? We saw speed kills are you going to try and replace Brown with Davis (a decrease in speed)? Are you signing some FA and at what cost? Most number 2 WRs with speed are going to cost you 8+ a season or are you willing to risk a step back On offense. While I agree the salary cap is going to be tough this off season - I just do not see the Bills cutting a bunch of players that will need to be replaced with similar priced players as it does nothing to help the team. I think they will work to re-sign their own players and will see what is available to bring in, but I imagine the majority of the 2021 Bills will be off the 2020 season. I do not see them cutting a majority of players and actually expect they will try to rework a few of those contracts.
  16. He had one 20 yard run - other than that he was worse than either of our RBs all day. This on a team with a better run blocking OL. Nothing really suggests he is anything more than a JAG - just like our guys. So no - I would not take him to be on this team - rather have our guys at a lesser price if you are just getting a JAG RB.
  17. Really - I am supposed to want Fournette because why - on a good rushing team he hit 55 yards. No I still do not want Fournette. He just is not anything special.
  18. Most likely they will do a deal similar to Tre and Mahomes where it is an extension to the current contract after they pick up the 5th year option. Therefore his real cap hit does not hit the Bills until 2022 with the new NFL TV deal. Allen’s cap hit next year will not change much even if he signs a 10 yr 500 million deal that exceeds Mahomes and I expect they will work on something even more team friendly. The timing for the Allen extension is great as the Cap should rise significantly by the time his 40 million hits the cap.
  19. Until we see the contract we won’t know, but my guess is similar Mahomes and Tre White - his new contract will be an extension to his current deal after they pick up the 5th year option. Therefore; JA gets his money earlier, but it has almost no impact on his salary cap for 2021 or 2022 allowing the Bills to re-sign guys and plan for the hit. That allowed Tre’s contract to be under 12 Mil this year and the cap hit to be under 15 mil until 2025 rather than the 19-20 mil per season of the extension. The extension for Mahomes meant this year was under 6 million with only 24 million next year before the big money hits. There is no reason the Bills can’t do something similar with an eye on the 2022 salary cap where it is expected to be new TV deals that dwarf the current deals and increase the Cap by 25-50% or more. Then you are really looking at how do you fit those guys in for 1 year before the new cap and bigger deals start.
  20. Those trades were thrown out by the poster I was responding to - not what I would suggest for Watson. He was questioning if other teams would make trades. I think Watson is worth more than he thought.
  21. Man glad to see you can still start useless threads. What would we do without another thread started by you - nearly identical to your others. 🤢 Maybe this on will get merged also. The LAMP is strong with this one (and useless)!
  22. I totally disagree - He is their best player and he has just gone through a HC that ran out a GM many of the players liked and respected for his honesty in Gaines. The HC then replaced said GM, way overpaid to make a run last year, and then traded away their 2nd best player in Hopkins for pennies. I believe the team should have talked with him about the upcoming decisions- I get why the GM hire went the way it did - they got the guy they wanted last year, but NE shut the door on, but they could have been honest about that. I believe what Watson is looking for is a bit of diversity in who he is dealing with and who is dealing with the team. The Houston ownership group has already shown a lack of cultural diversity in how they spoke in the past, how they treated cultural diverse hires like Gaines, how they treated cultural diverse players like Hopkins, etc. He is looking for some level of understanding and a desire to at least look at candidates hat will understand these players. I truly think Watson is a leader and speaks for a large percentage of the team, but I also agree with @GunnerBill - at this point the silent treatment is not the answer. Be vocal and be strong and tell them why - it may not change anything, but at least others hear you and understand. Watson is a bit stuck at this point as he is under a huge contract and if the team doesn’t want to trade him - even sitting out does little good. Bell could sit out because it was the final year - Watson has until 2025 - so he is stuck. He is going to play - make yourself heard and use your voice for others.
  23. First the contract window on a rookie is still 5 years. Even after Mahomes and Watson signed their deals - their cap hits this year were both under 10 million and although they jump in year 5 Mahomes is under 25 million and Watson is only 16 million. After year 5 the extension kicks in and their cap hits jump to close to 40 million - so yes they are still cost contained for 5 years. Basically if Herbert continues to grow they can extend him after year 3, but still get year 4 cheap and the 5th year option before the extension kicks in. That means a difference of paying Watson 40.4 million in 2022 and Herbert 7.5 million and that to me is huge. I personally think Watson is a top level QB - probably in tier 2 overall just below the elites, but he is a franchise level guy that has been screwed around by his team. The list of teams that would not make a deal is and should be small. Your example given if I was the Giants and you offered me Watson for Jones and my first - I would be all over that in half a second - that would be a huge steal for the Giants. If I am Miami - I would strongly consider Tua and the #3 for Watson. I have seen enough Tua throws to question his downfield throws and Watson is immediately better now. Washington to me is interesting, but in reality undoable. Chase Young looks and acts like a leader you want on your team, but straight up - I probably make the trade, but I don’t see Houston getting just a DE back - they would need a pick and/or a QB. The QBs that I’d keep myself would be: Allen, Mahomes, Rodgers, Herbert, Burrows, and that is about it. There are a few guys I would put in the “I could go either way” group: Murray, Lamar Jackson, Lawerence at #1, I will put Rodgers here also due to age, Wilson. Those guys it depends upon what I want to accomplish as a team. Pretty much every one else - I am willing to trade picks, young QBs, packages to get Watson to develop around. That is my feeling on it. You have a shot at a top 5-7 young QB - that positions you for the next 15 years - you take it and figure the rest out later.
  24. You should really try carving in stone. LOL
  25. Except he can pass multiple stages in a day - it does not mean he will, but he could be entirely cleared by the first practice or it could take until Sunday, or he could not clear. The time frame is not defined and clearing levels is not a daily task.
