  1. Totally disagree - he was below Average most game and made a few “sugar high” throws that Josh gets blasted for, but people love when Mahomes makes those throws. He should of been called for intentional grounding a couple of times as he rushed backwards 25-30 yards and threw the ball away out of bounds short of the LOS. The Two biggest throws he had were when he got spun around and threw the ball as he came back around and the one he was tripped up and launched a pass that should of been picked, but ended up hitting his own guy in the face mask. Josh had similar plays during the regular season and completed his falling pass to Beasley. I am at the point where I no longer think there is anything Mahomes can do that Josh can do. The difference right now is between the match-up between teams.
  2. Nope he slide to early - down at the 1 yard line maybe the 2. Not a good choice for running back - dive in and score - then Get back into the stands.
  3. Depends upon when the trade becomes official. The additional picks might push the “official” trade date back until later March - so the 16 million in bonuses is eaten by the Eagles- making his contract this year 15 million. Still a lot, but something you can work with. It sucks for Philly, but if it gets them the picks they need - they eat a year and move on.
  4. It will be interesting to see what they get in return for Wentz. Could they include Ertz to boost the price and take back another TE? If they can get back 1st rounders does that give Philly a chance to go after Watson? Could 6 this year, 2 Indy picks, another high pick next year and Hurts get Houston enough to move Watson to the NFC? I just love these kinds of things. The NYJ and Miami still seem better with a definite shot at the #2 QB, but Philly’s pick might not be bad especially if you want to move him out of the AFC.
  5. I just hate this let’s blame the NFL style take. If you don’t like it don’t watch, but then you should avoid flying, health insurance, other sport leagues, most other major brands, etc. Just a quick google search showed multiple major companies CEO’s getting arrested in the last 2 years for drunk driving. Another quick search showed several CEO’s getting arrested for domestic violence and a third search shows CEOs getting arrested for sexual abuse. It includes companies like NASCAR, American Airlines, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Maybe the NFL is more like a normal employer as it happens at all levels of employment and people with convictions get hired all the time (as they should after serving their time or penalty). The rate of issues in the NFL of these types of things is actually lower than within the general population and the NFL does many more good things for people in need. The truth is those good things are generally not news worthy because they will not make people click on links, but a horrible NFL Domestic violence story or a horrible story like this is going to generate a ton of clicks - so you will get the story and you will get 50 - 100 opinion pieces and follow-ups because those will drive clicks. I do wish the NFL was tougher on some things - like Frank Clark/Tyreek Hill issues and drug issues like Josh Gordon would get permanent bans, but the NFL does punish and can’t ban because that is the agreement with the union.
  6. I try to re-sign him, but again not using a tender. I try to sign him to a 2 year deal with mostly signing bonus and nearly no salary to limit his 2021 cap hit, but give him money.
  7. Not sure I get this - I don’t expect they will be trying to sign Stills as he is a FA and was just paid comparable to Brown. He is not on the Bills and is a FA. I also think a Healthy Stills in 2021 does outperform 2020 Brown, but I also think a healthy Brown in 2021 outperforms a 2020 Brown or a healthy 2021 Stills. Stills missed more games than Brown last year and had a worse season both before being cut and then never seeing the field again.
  8. I agree there are some differences, but McD did say it was a coaching decision and he wanted to “ride” the hot hand. So I took it to be - especially with the Arizona injuries to the D-line - that the team was putting together a more run centric offense and felt similar to the NE game - they wanted to see what this team could do. It became apparent that the ends and LBs were quicker and holding up and therefore that line was not a final stop. They finished the game and immediately the OL was returned to Morse at Center and Mongo at Guard. I think they realized Mongo is good, but at Center the rest of the line inside was weak and the best line going forward was Morse at Center, Mongo and Ike at Guard. That stabilized things, but still left issues. I think they want improvement on the O-Line - I am just not sure they can move on from Morse as the savings is minimum and it would cost more for Mongo and then we still have openings that need to be filled. If this was next year where you get bigger savings from Morse - then maybe they switch, but I think we are going to be stuck with an OL very similar for 2021 to our 2020 line.
  9. This is a ridiculous argument, but let’s play. If Josh Allen missed a few games like Morse and then was not cleared until the middle of the week and Barkley was 2-0 and the team put together a game plan he could work with - then yes maybe Josh waits. We saw it with Milano this year, Moss this year, Brown, Singletary last year, etc. The Bills very much rely on the training staff to decide and even if guys are “cleared” - the Bills have given guys extra weeks throughout the last few years. Center is one of the most important positions and although we know Morse was cleared - we do not know anything beyond that and maybe the Bills thought they could use the OLine like they did against NE and then regroup over the bye.
  10. Do you think so? I am not sure at 9 - who you would expect to be available that someone wants to move up enough to give up multiple first round picks. I think they took a sure thing along with a better QB than a potential trade that may never be available and a worse QB.
  11. Honestly - The #9 pick in this draft does very little for Detroit and they need to figure out who is staying and who is going. I think they were more enticed by 2 future picks and Goff - than Drew Lock and a single pick this year and I am not sure I disagree. This years draft and process is so messed up - now is the time to clear players, begin the process of establishing your future team and then you begin next year refilling the talent pool with multiple picks.
  12. Re-sign, but like Wallace - I would not tender - I would re-sign to a multi-year deal - trying 4 years 10-12 million give him a nice signing bonus and low year 1 contract to spread the cost over time, but give him money sooner.
  13. Agreed - it was even talked about in the Rams/SeaHawks game several times. During the week Goff was having trouble gripping the ball to make throws. His accuracy and ability to throw beyond 5-10 yards was greatly hindered. Therefore - the decision to start Wolford because even with his lack of experience he could handle more throws than Goff. Goff though knew significantly more of the playbook than Bortles and therefore even injured provided more as a potential back-up that could help Wolford out. The idea being that Goff never has to see the field, but can help identify what the SeaHawks were doing and help Wolford get into better plays. Then early Wolford gets knocked out and you see why the Rams struggled with the decision - Goff that game was all over the place and really could not throw a pass with any velocity and/or accuracy. I do not think the starting of Wolford was a sign of their dislike of Goff - that was evident throughout the year at various times and comments by McVay. I think Goff generally had issues during the week and was not ready to go, but was still better than the third string and the staff mad a choice - similar to the Bills dressing Davis, Brown, and Beasley or the Jets dressing Becton. There is a lot that goes into those choices and with limited options - sometimes you make a choice like dressing Goff hoping and expecting him not to play.
  14. No kidding, but most people seem to think LA had to throw an extra 1st and a 3rd to include Goff. The poster I was responding to basically said the Panthers was a better offer with just the number 8 this year rather than 2 #1s and Goff. I don’t think that is necessarily the case. Especially as you need time to build and regrow the team.
  15. I guess it depends upon what you think about the upcoming drafts. Maybe they view multiple picks going forward as better than the #8 pick this year, especially if they truly think they are 2 or 3 years away and need to revamp the entire roster. This years draft with the lack of college games played and no combine and limited visits makes it much more difficult. Maybe the Lions think the next couple of years will allow better scouting and player development than this off season. Just a few thoughts on that. Now if Carolina offered the #8 and a number 1 next year and maybe Bridgewater - then maybe I think the Lions just did the Rams a favor, but the fact that the picks are next year and the year after does not bother me because I would have a longer term view in Detroit.
  16. Tyrod doesn’t throw picks because he won’t throw the ball. He would be literally one of the worst QBs to put into a pass first/limited run offense. If Tyrod wants to be a back-up - he should go to Baltimore where the QB runs more than passes - that is where he fits. Not on a pass first - high volume passing attack. It would look like the Jacksonville playoff game all over again. 🤦‍♂️
  17. Hap - spot on take. I think the Bills would like Barkley back, but I am not sure they want to pay him any more than they did these last 2 years and may think there is small savings to be had. I think the Bills have their 3 guys under contract and will be looking to add a camp body at this point. If that extra body is Barkley - great for him, but it would not shock me to see someone else fill that role.
  18. For me - if I was the GM of the Rams, I would have been working with Miami and Houston to try and move Tua to LA, Goff to Houston, and Watson to Miami. I think between Miami and LA - Houston could have gotten 3 or 4 first round picks and Tua is a better fit to McVay’s offense and you get huge Cap savings in LA to help reload. Miami gets Watson and retains their own first round picks, but gives up the Houston picks. Tua then goes to the Rams for Goff and another 1st going back for salary dump and maybe the Rams save a 1st or have to sweeten the deal. I think that would have helped all 3 teams long term and would have been a much better use of resources than the Stafford deal.
  19. This is exactly what I was saying. The Lions were built for attacking the deep outsides with their WRs and the intermediate middle with the TE and that was Staffords strengths. That also leads to longer developing plays and more sacks. It also tends to hinder the outside zone rushing attacks with quick passes off from that. The Rams have a quick passing attack - lots of run/pass options with roll outs and either getting the ball to the TE or the RB to one side or hitting a crossing receiver going against the flow around 8-12 yards down field. I will be very interested to see will McVay adjust his offense to try and fit what Stafford has traditionally done best. I do not think they have the players for that as Detroit has had exceptional WRs with speed and size to attack the outside thirds of the field 15-20 yards downfield and Kupp and Woods are more crossing route type receivers. Can Stafford adjust and does he have enough mobility to consistently make run/pass option reads and quickly diagnose and make reads and throws as well as Goff did in the short areas and behind the LOS? How good is the OLine really for the Rams? They scheme up protections because of play action, roll-outs, and quick read passes. If Stafford is more of a traditional QB dropping back and holding on to the ball - ala his Detroit days - will the OL hold up or will teams knowing better where he stand be able to pressure him more than they did Goff. The final piece that I think will be very interesting is where you really project these guys stats to be. Unless Detroit revamps their offense (and I suspect they will) that is a terrible fit for Goff, but I think you will see Detroit become more of a running - short passing team. Where does Stafford go? The Rams throw even more than Detroit, but lots of short passes for short gains. in one less game Goff completed 30 more passes on 20 more attempts, but had less yards. Does Staffords aggressive throws help open things up or does his decreased completion percentage have an impact. Does the Rams rushing attack around the end zone limit his TD throws and he is closer to Goff’s 20. I think they will get a more consistent QB game over game and I think Stafford is marginally better. I think McVay needs to adjust to Stafford and the team needs to adjust and I do not think they have the cap room or the ability to get new players - so it is going to have to meld. The biggest issue to me is the Rams did not get a ton of cap room in this deal - especially with some of Stafford’s bonuses due shortly and losing draft picks for essentially the next 3 years just hurts their ability to find cheap replacement level players. I don’t think Stafford makes them the best team in their division, let alone the NFC, but they are top 3-4. They got a slight improvement at a cost of 2 #1’s and a 3, but more than the cost they got older and less athletic. Tampa made that work - but brought in a boat load of new/former weapons to help Brady because of their cap space. The Rams have to figure it out with the players they got or maybe even with less players due to the cap.
  20. McVay is bright, but they have spent years building the offense to fit the strength of Goff. The current WR set with Kupp and Woods are not necessarily fits for the strength Stafford. The offense/line/WRs/TEs all have years in that system. I expect they are going try to fit Stafford in as much as possible into the current system. It might work - I don’t expect they will be worse, but I don’t think they are significantly better with Stafford and based upon the salaries- it doesn’t look like a big savings for the Rams.
  21. What we have seen from the offense is he likes PA roll out and mobility with quick decisions. The offense at its best had a high throughput RB and Goff was hitting quick throws to RB/TEs outside and WRs on crossing routes. Lots of misdirection and movement. Stafford with his various injuries is no longer that mobile QB or a guy that can sprint out for wide handoffs. He is more of a drop back - pocket passer that hits WRs outside the numbers and TEs on the seams. The Rams offense maintained its strength attacking the edge and then bringing WRs across the field in the opposite direction of the motion into cleared out areas. I think Stafford forces it back to a more conventional offense with drop backs and straight hand offs attacking the middle of the field. Basically to me - Stafford brings more experience and a better arm, but you lose McVays creativity to scheme people open with motion and roll-outs.
  22. Their first this year is already in Jacksonville for the DB trade last year.
  23. Yes, but you are talking about a QB that has had back injuries and has underperformed for years and does not really fit the McVay style of offense.
  24. I totally agree and further more - I think Stafford is a terrible fit for that offense. He is not a dink/dunk style passer or a roll out guy. He is a deep drop and pocket thrower and that means big changes to how they move forward. I think Stafford has the better arm, but he has not shown himself to be the better QB or to elevate those around him - even when surrounded by some of the top WRs in the game. Big risk for LA and potentially resets their window to an even smaller window before they fall apart.
  25. Now with their picks and the Rams picks - do the Lions have enough ammo to go after Watson? I am sure Watson would block that trade, but it gives Houston an NFC team that could trade potentially #7 this year and several future #1 picks and throw in Goff if they want the QB to get a franchise QB. I can’t see it, but if provides Ammo they did not have before.
