This is based strictly on augury and I haven't figured out how to do points. So anyhow, Bills win big, the team finally looks like the team we thought they were, there is at least one "uh oh" injury and some hair-pulling mistakes. But once they get rolling, they dominate.

Anyone know if Easley is in or out for the game? It's looking grim on the receiver front if he can't play. BTW, for the OP and those who agree with him, I have a question: do you ever watch other NFL teams, with a critical eye? Because there are an awful lot of QBs who are on the same level as EJ, over and under throwing receivers, missing open guys, making the wrong adjustments, tossing INTs. Right off the top of my head, I think of both Mannings, Cutler, Stafford, Smith, Rivers, Brees, Fitz, Kaep, Bradford, Vick. About the only QB who is totally consistent this year is Brady. So is it possible the "EJ sucks" thing either comes from personal animosity or else from a lack of knowledge about how the general field of QBs is playing?

SI.com article on Pettine's defense in Cleveland
yungmack replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to Rex's most recent presser, the Bills will be playing the same D. He more or less laughed off the suggestions that he needs to change it. Thurman, in his presser, basically blamed the players. Sheesh. -

Reserve Judgment Till After The Bye Week
yungmack replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If a large man with an axe crashes through your door, do you reserve judgment to his intentions while you look around to see if somehow or other a tree has suddenly begun growing through your living room floor? Or do you do what I would, which is to scream like a little girl and run out the back? Tell you what I will do: I will not start screaming until after Sunday's game. If I see real changes to the defensive philosophy, I will relax and hope for the best for the rest of the season. If, on the other hand, and in spite of Rexie's public statements about "hearing" his lineman's criticisms, the defense gives us more of the same old same old, then I will declare that his honeymoon is officially over and will call for his firing. Fair enough? -
Is it fair to say that if EJ has another game like last week, where all the "old, bad EJ" habits were on display, in spite of the supposed advances we saw in preseason, that we can officially drop support for him as a potential starter and mentally begin around here to move on to another potential "franchise QB"?

London Uber drivers trash-talk Woods for being soft
yungmack replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would anyone use Uber in London of all places. Those are the best cab drvers in the world. They have to go to school for years and commit the streets to memory. I'm told the license test is hellacious. And the cabs are cool. -

Strong words from Jimbo on Rex/the team.
yungmack replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I noted that comment too. We will know if Rex really means it when the D hits the field in London. If it's the same old crud then it will most definitely be time for Pegula and Whaley to take him to the woodshed. -
With last year's D and Jim Schwartz, the Bills win this game, even with EJ's performance.

The Whaley / Ryan / Dareus disconnect
yungmack replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As supposedly a knowledgeable fan of the Bills, you must know that the D was one of the best two years running under two different coordinators and two different styles. So if pretty much the same players are still on the roster, with the addition of a Darby and a Graham excelling at a new position, how do you reach the rather odd conclusion that this is a "poorly constructed/flawed roster"? Are you Rex Ryan's agent? Or maybe some fans are realists who are looking at the mess that is the Bills without rose-colored glasses. -
How useless is Percy Harvin?

Gay bulls like those breasts. Or so I hear. You country boys can verify. -
Bills sign OL Jordan Mills off of Lions PS
yungmack replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Added him for depth I suspect. -
I doubt Schwartz is coming back but Rex had better do something and fast because I think a mutiny is brewing among his defensive stars.

The Whaley / Ryan / Dareus disconnect
yungmack replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When would you fire people? After 3-13? Exactly correct. None of the rational fans were expecting league-leading offensive action. We could live with so-so offensive play of the promised "ground and pound" sort that avoided horrible mistakes and kept us in the game. What we weren't expecting was that one of the best defenses in the game, and one of the best special teams, would underachieve so horribly. That's the crux of the disgust with Rex. -
How many wins do we get this season?
yungmack replied to Buffalos#1Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point - and if no fundamental changes are made to "right the ship" - 8-8 appears optimistic. Just looking at the mess Rex has made with a once dominating defense (and grumbling coming out of the locker room), combined with a decline in Special Teams, along with critical injuries, it's entirely possible the Bills have won their last game of the season. But I think the "blind squirrel" principle kicks in and they win 3 more. I honestly can't say with any sort of confidence which 3 teams they'll defeat so my projection is based on hope not confidence. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particular order.....

Did the Bills do this to you? Get well fast and thoroughly. -
What's the over/under on Rex getting fired after 2 years?
yungmack replied to cale's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If things continue the way they have, I think he's gone at the end of this season. I believe even a 10 win season without a post season appearance might leave him on shaky ground. But the way they look now, a 6-10 record might be the best they can hope for. I've written elsewhere that I think the Pegulas are the sort of business people who, if they believe they've made a big mistake, will act to fix it. I don't think they will worry about "saving face." The NE game made me think Ryan isn't the right man for this team, and it's only gotten worse. I believe it is justifiable to fire him tonight but that would be both a PR mess and probably the beginning of a period of chaos, so I think they wait till January. I have also written, to some derision, that if you cannot fire Rex during the season, for any number of reasons, the Pegulas could fire Thurman after quietly putting Schwartz under contract and just as quietly informing Ryan he's to have no further control over the D. I think the D would immediately improve immensely which just might give the Bills a few more wins than it looks like they're going to get under the current regime, which in turn would salvage some dignity. -
Great Bill from an era of great Bills.

Why the Coaching staff is doing a great job
yungmack replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you for posting, Mrs. Ryan. -
This team isn't worth 10 cents so I'm just going to give them my 2 cents, which comes down to one word: Dreadful. TT: 109 yards passing(!), Rex's philanthrophy, Hire-A-Bum brought in 2 new guys. Boom Herron, who has yet to unpack his suitcase gets the start over Boobie. WTF? And the other guy, supposedly an ugrade over Thigpen, promptly fumbles. The offense is an inept as it was last year or maybe a little worse, while the defense -- at least the line -- has noticeably declined, and just on the basis of stupid penalties, special teams is worse. Who would of thunk it but the Bills were a better team under He Who Shall Not Be Named.

This tells you all you need to know about the league's priorities: hitting a guy in the head, which could have tremendous negative results is 1/3 the "price" of cursing out an official. The suits in NYC are plain nuts.
