  1. Why are there two guys in the booth in the first place? I'm old enough to remember when all the sports were announced by a single guy and that was the golden era of announcers...Mel Allen, Lindsay Nelson, Ernie Harwell, Red Barber, Vin Scully, Keith Jackson, et al(some were forced to work with a commentator in later years). No over-amped hysterics, no motor mouths, no marble-mouths. Today's guys seem to have a deep fear of letting one second go by without talking. It's exhausting to listen to.
  2. Um, the Bills are in the football business, Brandon is president of the Bills; ergo, he's involved in football every working minute of his life. Which does NOT mean he makes "football decisions." The distinction seems simple enough but I guess the concept is fuzzy to some.
  3. Where has Marrone had a confirmed interview, not just one where he is rumored to be on the short list?
  4. This sums up my feelings about the Bills since P. T. Ryan came to town.
  5. I seem to recall McCoy was extremely unhappy about coming to Buffalo right after the trade was made. Then a few days later, a new fat deal was reached and happy ol' Shady was suddenly only too delighted to come to Buffalo.
  6. And he cost eleven teen first round picks!
  7. There is absolutely nothing about this kid's game that bothers me.
  8. Thanks, Bill, for another season of Must Read reports. Stay healthy 'cause I'm already waiting for your commentaries this autumn.
  9. Isn't it funny how guys who were considered good to great have supposedly "regressed" since P. T. Ryan came to town? And isn't it funny how those guys who have "regressed" are counted as draft failures of Whaley's even though just a year ago they were good to great? Doesn't anyone around here think that, gee, maybe Whaley did a pretty good job and maybe, just maybe, this regression might have at least a teensy bit to do with P. T. Ryan? And doesn't anyone around think that with the right coach that those once good to great picks who are now failed picks might just again become good to great players? Seems to me the failure of some of these picks are directly related to the incompetence of one P. T. Ryan almost exclusively and should not be charged against Doug Whaley.
  10. This is the heart of the fury people have towards Rex. I mean, why would you take a defense that was generally working very well with the ability f the players you had and which the players were well-schooled in, a replace it with what is an apparently super complicated one that can fall apart completely if a single player fails in the slightest? And then to continue to stubbornly insist on that system when it is clearly not working is insane.
  11. Short answer: Not likely with current personnel. The line will apparently be without Mario, some think Kyle is done as well, and Dareus sounds at least as disgruntled as Mario if not more. Preston Brown has gone from a very bright spot to worst in the league, McKelvin & Gilmore can't seem to stay healthy, Graham is looking old and I wonder if Aaron Williams will be the player he was. In fact, I would not be terribly surprised if, a few months down the road, he decides to retire. I think lots of current D players will be gone as Rex, with his vote of confidence from The Pegs, remakes the roster in accord with his dated system. In other words, the D is back in rebuilding mode so I don't see it improving next season. But if it is the same or worse that will likely be the end of Rex, so there's that bright spot.
  12. I am completely baffled by the amount of interest in Cook. I have seen him play in a number of games and there is nothing about him as a player that says "NFL Quality." He's one of those "shows flashes" players who "needs polishing." And from what I read, he's problematic as a human being. Compared to him (or Hackenberg, another flawed QB some around here are infatuated by), EJ is a Pro Bowl level guy. Does no one around here follow other conferences? Do you not know there are a bunch of Pac 12 QBs coming out this year that includes Jared Goff of Cal who broke Mariotta records? Heck, if you're looking to take a back up/development guy in the third round or later, I personally would take Cody Kessler from USC before Cook.
  13. You mean a D like the ones the Bills had the last couple of years before Rex took over?
  14. Pick a thread, any thread. It's pretty clear the natives are restless and have been for some time.
  15. You have to stop posting here, Mrs. Belichick.
  16. While his playing ability had certainly declined, the best reason to keep Fred was for leadership, a sense of continuity, and the "chill out" effect. I really do not think the locker room would have degenerated the way it has if he was there.
  17. This. Thanks for the laugh this morning. And it might be true.
  18. You are correct that changing coaches is not a recipe for success. But the apparent situation with the Bills this off season is either Rex goes or else a whole boatload of players go as the Defensive Genius remakes the roster in his image. Which makes more sense, replacing Rex or replacing the roster?
  19. Yes I was. Then it was back to "Bad Rex" which left me even more puzzled.
  20. He's already angling to get his incompetent son the GM slot.
