  1. A lot of linemen drop serious weight that they were keeping on through massive caloric intake regimes. Joe Thomas talked about how he would wake up early just to eat and basically not stop all day. Not sure they were necessarily juiced.
  2. Josh is the great equalizer. Beane and McD would both be unemployed if not for Josh. In the offseason we blame Beane for not seeing the flaws in the roster and making more impactful moves. During the season we blame McD for horrible situational football, conservative playcalling and bonehead decisions. But both guys have had their moments, don't get me wrong. Beane needs to nail this draft b/c FA already looks like a bust. And McD needs to get his Defense corrected Strong, solid all around roster with good depth. But not the elite talent to get us over the top. Combined with sub-par game day coaching and that's why it might be some time until we best KC. Unfortunately this FA is shaping up like a typical Beane FA, where we add good depth with solid, cost-effective signings, but didn't add a difference maker. Beane has taken two real swings - trading a 1st for Diggs and signing Von Miller - one worked out pretty good, the other didn't. Makes me worry his gun shy and more focused on keeping us good but not great.
  3. Not sure I understand the logic of using FA to add depth at this point. With a roster on the cusp of a SB, shouldn't you maximize your FA dollars to add difference makers. Do Green, Palmer, etc.. really get us closer to the SB? And with 10 draft picks why not add depth that way? I think Beane and McD have maxed out their championship potential. Can't change course from build up a cellar dweller to perennial contender. We now need to become the best, not just make the playoffs.
  4. well, that was predictable
  5. Seriously. I was happy we got him last year just to help Josh and with our window open. But Beane should have easily foreseen this situation last offseason and not been in the position to blow a 3rd for a rental player. And that's even with Mack outperforming his normal production. I'm not sure Palmer is the answer either, especially with Mack gone. But I also don't think Amari would do that much more. He seemed to have lost a step. I'd rather see the Bills add a WR playmaker early in the draft, after they've addressed DL/CB needs
  6. was decent as a KR last year. Could be good for that role in the new KO format and given Brady's obsession with WR screens
  7. I don't know. I think that's wishful thinking. And even if it's better that's still a low bar. As we saw, without Floyd and Von not back to old Von, we were pretty bad. Hoecht to me is the wildcard. Can he be a Lorax type X factor in the rush? I think Bosa is too fragile to risk as starting DE. We have nothing at 1-tech to make up for DaQuan's decline. We still need a strong draft at DT and DE to turn the tides on what has become a mediocre Dline.
  8. Market seems to be soft for Rasul. We'll probably re-sign him soon. And then add a high draft pick at CB to compete
  9. I wouldn't be mad, but after investing a 2nd in Bishop last year I think they're done, unless a guy they really like falls. Looking like CB, DE, DT in draft
  10. Rotational piece. only a 1 yr deal. Replaces Austin Johnson essentially. Could see the field on passing downs with Oliver. That's my take. Doesn't seem they're very confident in Carter. They should still go for a Daquan upgrade in the draft. Need a new starting 1-tech
  11. rest him until the playoffs when we actually need some playmakers. Bills roster is fine, until we go up against the big dogs. Keep Bosa fresh. Re-sign Von and keep them in hyperbaric chambers until December.
  12. Why all the whining?? This is a pretty good move. Dude is only 29 and has been an all-pro. it's a 1 year deal. Keep his snap count down and keep him fresh for the playoffs. It's a calculated risk I like it!
  13. It's a fair point! plus, Kyle Williams was a 5th rounder. They always say you can get good DTs in the 5th got that by trading a 5th last year, right? low 5th for a high 4th. pretty good
  14. So what's the consensus on Hoecht's role? Stating DE? pass rush specialist? sub package Swiss army knife? Any chance he pushes AJ for a starting spot?
  15. Palmer is a much better route runner than Samuel. He's a pure outside guy with separation ability due to savvy route running. Is he a difference maker? eh, probably not. But he can be a consistent starter. We should have a pretty steady WR room now, with Keon and Palmer on the outside, Shakir and Coleman in the slot. I'd love to see them add more speed, but it just doesn't seem to be Beane's emphasis
  16. I would be really surprised if they added Samuel. He's not known for his run support. Hopefully they have a trade in the works for Hendrickson or some other defensive stalwart. We need a leader and top performer on D. Also definitely should not rely on a rookie CB to step in and start
  17. We need a starting CB still. can't expect to get that from the draft. Other needs - DE, DT - could probably be draft priorities. Assume they'll roll with Rapp and Bishop at S. Kind of disappointing they didn't swing a little harder for real impact guys at WR and Edge. Not sure our pickups so far really get us closer to the top. Bills don't seem to think what the rest of us do - that Daquan had a bad year and a new impact starter is needed. Unless they think round 1 is the best option
  18. Or how about Sweat or Metcalf? We just dropped $60M on depth guys. Could have maybe used that for an impact starter.... maybe?
  19. Yeah, Palmer had the chance to step up and replace Allen and Williams. They needed it. But only McConkey rose to the occasion. Josh is a much better QB and Harbaugh didn't throw it a ton, but still not a great sign. Oh, and Palmer runs a 4.52. Beane really hates speed at WR
  20. That said, every year there are teams that surprise and are contenders. And others that suck. I guess anyone could be a contender!
  21. and the KC playoff game the year before. he just didn't look as good this year and the Bills D regressed. He's a C though and Bills seem to think he's a centerpiece, but he's got to be one of the smallest MLBs in the NFL
  22. Honestly, I would have done him before Bernard. But probably would have waited for both to show more consistency in year 4. Don't know what type of cap savings we get, if any, from these extensions
  23. Elite?? He showed well in 2023, but was not as much of an impact player in 2024. Only 1 sack, 5 TFLs, no FFs, 2 INTs Dorian Williams outpaced him in tackles and they had the same TFL, despite Dorian not starting the last 5 games. I think re-signing him is a good move, but like Shakir, it's a little pricey for a guy that hasn't really had consistent production. Bills seem to be giving home town upgrades for guys they believe will keep getting better. I'm ok with that in Shakir's case. Bernard I worry is a little more risky, due to injury from being undersized
  24. Best year or best career? or best three years? Schobel gets my vote. But Paup had that one magical season.
  25. He's best as insurance for glass Matt. I hope he's not needed this year, but between Milano and Bernard he probably will be. And available for 3 LBs looks. Possible Bernard replacement next year
