KC win puts Bills in better spot
transplantbillsfan replied to Bluegrass Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way Buffalo is playing, bring on anyone. -
That play alone changed my mind on whether we should keep him or let him go next year to save some cap money. And to be clear, I never wanted to see him go... I just thought he was one of the more logical cap casualties. But Hyde and Poyer are the lifeblood of Buffalo’s D. Find a way to keep both as long as they're playing at a high level.

1/15/22 WC PLAYOFFS Bills vs Pats* Postgame Thread
transplantbillsfan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
That was the game changer. Seemed like the Patriots were getting momentum... NOPE!!! -
Look... we should win. Better team. Better Quarterback by a gazillion miles. We should win. Probably should win big. That's not something I'm banking on... and as soon as the ball kicks up all my nervous energy will come flooding in. But it sure would be nice to see this team continue to be the dominant team it's been since the 2nd half of the Bucs game.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Bills Move On
transplantbillsfan replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only ball I can really recall that was really ugly was an overthrow on a wide open deep ball. What you said was this: "For large stretches of the game, the Bills’ offense looked pretty bad. Well, let’s say for large stretches of the game, Josh Allen looked pretty bad." You don't think that sounds like a generally damning statement on Allen? And yes, I know you mention the wind next... but everybody knew wind was a factor. Just like everybody knew wind was a factor against the Patriots in Orchard Park on MNF. Yet Allen consistently delivered the football to his receivers in BOTH games. I don't even agree with the premise that going against the wind was a problem. Allen did it pretty successfully in the 4th quarter of that Patriots game and generally against the Jets as well. But I saw dropped pass after dropped pass after miscommunication after miscommunication. Yes you might be right that we should've just started running because that was what worked rather than passing... but if that's the case, maybe we need to consider revamping out passing weapons Allen throws the ball to, because there were way too many game altering plays left on the field by our pass catchers... not Allen. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Bills Move On
transplantbillsfan replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Shaw I always appreciate these, but I have to disagree about Allen looking bad. There were multiple drops and multiple plays of miscommunication between him and the WRs. So what doesn't Allen do? Just like in the Falcons game where the passing game doesn't work he runs the ball and (clearly) audibles into some RB runs for a run game that's finally working. His completion percentage may have sucked, but he didn't turn the ball over and passed for 2 TDs that were nearly 3. I love the neglect of Allen right now. Pro Bowl snub. Doubt he gets a vote for MVP or All-pro. This is the type of thing I can see driving him in the playoffs. And I hope it gives him absolutely no hesitation to run the ball when he should... which will likely happen a lot on Saturday alone. -
I just hope Patriot fans don't show up in force. But I'll tell ya... I will NEVER go to a game this cold! Aside from TV being just generally better viewing in my opinion, living in Hawaii has wildly thinned out my blood. Sometimes the annual early October home game I try to make is too cold!

Shaq Lawson possibly returning to Buffalo
transplantbillsfan replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like it. I have no idea how he's played the last couple years since he left but he played fairly well in his last couple years with us. And I remember him being pretty good against the run. I take it this is just for the playoffs? -

Please tell me this means we get Romo rather than Collinsworth. -
Calling it now: Devin will be a 1000 yard back this year
transplantbillsfan replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Honestly, he probably should've been over 1000 yards rushing on his own if we didn't commit so much ridiculous time to Zach Moss, who is terrible.- 176 replies

Anyone who watches football from a distance (seems to be what a lot of talking heads do) will probably try to cling to a dropped completion percentage and more Turnovers... but those of us watching could see issues with weather, drops, and an offense and particularly an OL trying to find itself. Feeling good going into the playoffs

Week 18: Jets at Bills - a W wins the AFC East!

Burrow NOT playing Sunday - per Burrow
transplantbillsfan replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
If the Chiefs lose on Saturday I really just can't imagine the Bengals forfeiting the #2 seed and a guaranteed 2 home games in the playoffs. As far as I know the Bengals would have the tiebreaker over the Bills and Chiefs if we all ended 11-6 -
Josh - 16 games 2020 vs 2021 stats
transplantbillsfan replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
There are "pure luck" interceptions as well. Like when balls are tipped or when a WR decides to stop running a route. So should Allen's last 2 interceptions also be left out? Or if you want to include all fumbles, not just fumbles lost, shouldn't we also count all of those interceptions that were dropped by defenders? It's impossible to measure pure luck, so sticking with the actual turnovers themselves is what makes the most sense. Interceptions up. Fumbles lost down. -
http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/billsstandings.html Right now the Bills have a 34% chance that they'll play the Patriots in round 1. That means there's a 66.% chance we will NOT play the Patriots. Anyone other than the Patriots is our most likely opponent at this moment. At this moment anywhere from the 2-7 seed is possible for us.

I'll just point out that there are even respectable analysts who know the game of football firsthand who don't think Allen played poorly against Atlanta as @JoPoy88 and others do: https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/jim-kubiak-why-bills-qb-josh-allens-stats-are-misleading-in-victory-against-falcons/article_c6731e04-6cf3-11ec-86d7-7334f7b742c1.amp.html A look at Josh Allen’s statistics from Sunday’s victory against the Atlanta Falcons would suggest he played poorly, but the film review indicates this was not the case. Allen completed just 11 of 26 attempts (42.3% completion percentage) while throwing three interceptions and no touchdowns. Yet, his overall performance grade of 92.15% demonstrated that he protected the football with smart decisions despite his three interceptions and fell victim to circumstance on five plays that were out of his control. ... Here, Allen was anticipating that Beasley would release past a second-level defender into the seam. The Bills were running seams by the inside receivers and hitches by the outside receivers. It appeared the Falcons had rotated into a 3-deep zone coverage and Beasley was going to be open in the seam following his release. That was what Allen was hoping for, but Beasley seemed to pull up and stop running his route. Unfortunately for Allen, he had already released the football. The Bills rushed the football for 233 yards and dominated the time of possession an astounding 36:07 to 23:53 for the Falcons. It was a great game plan by Daboll to utilize Allen with quarterback crack sweeps and quarterback counter concepts. ... This was also a great example of how a quarterback’s statistics can be misleading. Allen really made only one poor decision in the game, his first interception. Beyond that, he was smart with the football. His performance grade of 92.15% is an "A" in a playoff-clinching moment, even if his quarterback rating of 17.0 was the worst mark in his career. The video review revealed a tough and gritty performance from a franchise quarterback who values winning above all else, because in the end that is all that matters.

Career-worst single-game passer rating
transplantbillsfan replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen has a lower passer rating this year largely because he's had his most prolific and effective rushing season and rushing stats aren't a Passer Rating stat. Allen has the 15th best Passer Rating in the NFL right now. That's just plain stupid if you're using that to rank QBs in terms of play this year. I might be a Homer, but there's not a rational intelligent football fan in the world who would say 14 QBs have been better than him this year. ESPN Qbr at least takes running into consideration. Josh has a Qbr of 61.1 this year and is the 6th best QB in that metric. That's more reasonable and the QBs ahead of him I could see arguments for, at least. I can't find the exact Qbr against the Falcons, but I doubt it's the lowest of his career.
