  1. I know, man, I'm sorry. I originally just made it "Bills W" vs. "Bills L," but then I knew we might have a stellar defensive game. So much of the talk has been about Taylor this week, figured I should involve him in the bet, which really favors all of those doom and gloomers since I've got 2 criteria to meet and they only have 1.
  2. https://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/196527-bills-w-taylor-200-yards-a-fun-tbd-bet-this-gloomy-week/ Anyone who feels this strongly might want to consider a little friendly wager... mosy on over
  3. Is that your version of "I'm in?" You don't have to be. I suppose this thread would just be a discussion point, too... but we have several of those already.
  4. you just need either a L OR Taylor under 200 yards. No worries. Wasn't accusing you of anything. You don't have to root against him. If you think he won't, you losing is simply that you have to talk positively about everything Billsy for one week. Is that really so hard?
  5. I read a lot of posts here prophesizing how we're going to get our butts whooped on Sunday and Taylor isn't even going to surpass 100 yards passing. To some of those posters, I've been trying to put out this fun little bet with what I think are kinda fun consequences. I'm going to put this out in a thread to see if there are any takers. If there are no takers, I guess no bet. But considering how absolutely so many posters here speak about what will happen this coming Sunday, I'll be surprised if there are no takers. It's simple, just say "I'm in for (Bills L OR Taylor under 200 yards) OR (Bills W and Taylor over 200 yards passing)" If you bet the Bills L OR Taylor under 200 yards, but the Bills Win AND Taylor passes for over 200 yards- You agree that you won't say a single negative thing about the team as a whole, players on the team individually, coaches, etc on TBD all the way up until kickoff when we play the Falcons the following week. If you bet the Bills W and Taylor over 200 yards, but the Bills Lose OR Taylor passes for less than 200 yards- You agree that you won't say a single positive thing about the team as a whole, players on the team, individually, coaches, etc on TBD all the way up until kickoff when we play the Falcons the following week. No prodding or personally attacking the other side if they lose, we'll just all expect them to abide by the terms of the bet, which will only last a week. I'm in for the Bills W and Taylor over 200 yards. Need at least one poster to bet against that, but wouldn't this be so much more fun if all the prophets came out and really demonstrated how great they are at prophesizing? 6. Isn't this already being discussed in more than one place? I thought TWD really frowned upon thread after thread after thread discussing the same subject? Just trying to clarify, 'cause I'm confused
  7. Kinda part of my initial point. Frankly, I wouldn't want to be in Carolina's position at QB right now. I think they're stuck with Newton for at least another 5 years or so. And as much as people are pointing to his age as some kind of proof he's in his prime, they don't seem to be considering all the hits and injuries piling up on him, which are clearly taking their toll physically and probably (as you reference) mentally, as well. That statement above is not me comparing Newton to Taylor or saying I'd rather have Taylor in any way, whatsoever. I like the position we're in at QB because we aren't stuck with an average to barely above average QB (and that's what I believe Cam is at this point) for the next half decade or so. We're able to address the position in a serious manner in less than a calendar year
  8. You posted that article as though it's proof Mariota is audibling freely at the line and it's not. I know Mariota and like him a lot. I think he has the ability to do it. But the article you just posted proves pretty much the opposite of what you were saying. And also, you're implying that Taylor can't dissect what he's seeing on the field when he has to make snap decisions pretty consistently based on what he sees. For example, back in 2015 against the Titans when Taylor scored that TD on the draw play: That was a designed draw and was something that we practiced on against a certain look. There were two plays called in the huddle and we got up and they gave us the look that we wanted to get and I was able to make a play.
  9. He was restricted calling audibles. He didn't have absolute freedom. It says it right there. Matt Ryan in Kyle Shanahan's offense was restricted in the audibles he could call. Sometimes it's an ego thing for OCs. I think people are assuming those comments from Taylor imply automatically that he absolutely has to run whatever play he's given and I really doubt that. I'm sure he has the freedom to check to a run play to a pass play or a pass play to a run play if he absolutely must, but I'm also sure that Dennison generally wants the plays run he wants run. It's just a little goofy the way some people are presenting that as though it's proof that Taylor can't handle being an NFL QB.
  10. Indefensible? Says random dude on a message board who has probably never even played the position before. Still so angry, I see. Someone pointed out Wentz as a guy consistently audibling from the time he got under center in the NFL, but does anyone really know if every other NFL QB can (coach's permission) and does (ability) audible consistently and effectively in and out of plays? Does Newton? It sure didn't look like it Sunday when he called a couple timeouts pretty clearly saying he couldn't hear the call in his helmet. Mariota? Prescott? Indefensible? Yeah, I don't think Taylor's alone there, bro.
  11. I agree with all of this. I just hope the Carolina game will be a learning experience for Dennison.
  12. This is just faulty logic. Arguably Taylor's worst game in his entire career was a Win. That being the 2016 Bengals game. You don't give Taylor credit for that game the way you're trying to give Cam credit for the Win on Sunday. I'm not football brilliant, but this QB discussion always devolves into Ws and Ls being placed solely on the QB's shoulders. It's just the equivalent of football stupid. Everyone is going to get their friggin wish next year, okay? We're going to have a guy who will supposedly be our "franchise QB" pretty confidently in place. Peterman is not going to be that guy. Even if he comes into the game and starts the rest of the season, he needs to essentially play like a madman and lead us to multiple playoff victories in order for us to not draft a guy high next year. Taylor is the team's best opportunity to Win at the moment. One of the reasons clearly is that he doesn't turn the ball over and we have yet another HC with that defensive mentality. That's largely what I think Dennison meant this week when he said Taylor gave us the opportunity to win or whatever exactly he said. This is a team that looks like it has an Elite D. If our offense can find its footing, maybe the team can make a run. And vets like Lorax and Meatball are pretty clearly expecting this team to try to make a legitimate playoff run. Throwing a 5th round rookie in there isn't demonstrating that to those guys. If the passing game we had in Carolina happens again over the next couple weeks, I expect we'll see a QB change after the bye, but not likely before.
  13. Except that you'll notice I've been posting about a lot of other subjects lately. Trying to abide by that rule I didn't know about regarding posting about a variety of subjects. In other words, Cam might never be the same. Right?
  14. You're too cute with all your childish name calling. I don't know why you let me get under your skin so easily. It blinds you and makes you think things are happening that aren't, I guess. Cam Newton has been my focus in terms of discussion and interest in this thread that pretty directly and clearly states it's about Cam. Oh well, Wednesday is here tomorrow and so is Broncos week. You going to take me up on the bet I offered you and your crew?
  15. I am going to put this up again. It's the third or fourth time I've done it and I directed it at you and a couple of your crew, but anyone can play along I guess. Friendly wager with no extreme consequences: Bills win and you (and whoever) can't say a single negative thing the week leading up to the Atlanta game. Bills lose and I can't say a single positive thing leading up to the Atlanta game. Should be good fun. You in?
  16. When I go, I go to watch my team win, And our D is more than just a suffocating run D. But I will say that Shaq rolling over the RB on that final drive in the goal line D was pretty exciting.
  17. Is it boring because of our offense, then? Because I think our defense is really exciting to watch. I guess generally people don't enjoy watching defense? But man, our defense looks like it can be one of the elite defenses in the NFL by the end of the year. Let's just hope it's a chemistry problem with the offense and that they will put it together. Here's to hoping
  18. I like Wentz's future prospects better than Newton, then. In a vacuum, I take Wentz. I'd also take Winston over Newton even though I still can't stand the off-the-field stuff from college. I think I'd take Mariota, too. You think Newton is better than Luck? I don't. And Luck's another guy I've always thought is overrated. I think Prescott benefits more from the team around him and wouldn't put him above Newton. I agree with your list up to that point, though. So just taking those individual cases, that puts him at 13.
  19. No, I'm not a liar, you're just part of the group that's always angry. You quoted me in a post where I don't even say Taylor's name but make a passing reference to him, mainly because of how hypocritical your post was in the things you point out with him? I'm sorry, but clearly Newton was still the topic of conversation and has been for most of the thread, as much as I know you enjoy attacking me. I hear risperidone is a good drug to treat overly aggressive behavior. Maybe you should ask your doctor about it. are we going with "at this moment" or are we going with the better overall QB? If we're going with "at this moment," Alex Smith is clearly better than Newton.
  20. Ummmm... any ideas who the hell we're going and getting? Maybe we're calling Reilly up from the PS
  21. Did you think this thread was directed at you? And let me put it this way, too. I think the league is a little watered down with QBs right now. QB play is fantastic because of all the rule changes. But I don't think the QB ability reflects the production. So I don't really think talking about him in this "ranked" way compared with today's QBs is relevant. It's more a reflection that the argument has been, for years, that Cam Newton is an Elite QB. I think there are 4 Elite QBs in the NFL: Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Big Ben. Cam doesn't even belong in that conversation. And when all is said and done, I'll be curious to see how good Goff, Wentz and Prescott actually are. I think Wentz might be better than Cam. Goff looks good right now. And I also think Mariota and Winston might jump him. And I think Luck is better than him, though I don't know if he's ever going to have the team surrounding him to justify all the pre-draft hype that surrounded him. If that guy doesn't win a Super Bowl before his career is over, that's going to be a massive letdown for him and the Colts, assuming he remains there. Actually I've been trying to stick to Newton alone, except for my disclaimer at the beginning. Folks are definitely bringing him in, though. So as this has progressed I'm just rolling with the conversation. And victim? I don't feel victimized. You mistake my confusion for me playing the victim. Why people choose to come into threads they literally don't care to discuss is pretty confusing, to me.
  22. If you don't care, why are you here? I avoid threads I don't care about, why don't you do the same?
  23. Probably more like 11-15 for me. A lot of the young guys leave things up in the air for me needing to see more from the likes of Prescott, Wentz, Goff and even Mariota and Winston.
