Never mind GoT...TBBT ends after 12 seasons
Buffalo_Gal replied to Ridgewaycynic2013's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No, not kidding when I say I am watching next to nothing, @plenzmd1. I mostly like comedies, and very little is funny on TV these days (I do NOT get millennial "humor"). -
Never mind GoT...TBBT ends after 12 seasons
Buffalo_Gal replied to Ridgewaycynic2013's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I am not sorry to see it end. I've been watching since the beginning, and it is well past time. I may even watch "live" today instead of watching the DVR next week. After tonight, I will have only two shows left that I watch: Mom, and The Orville (which was just renewed for season 3). My DVR is never full. I can't wait for football season. *sigh* -

Oh, and this one is "interesting" too. I'm not certain how much he actually knows, how much is whispers, and how much is summations. One thing is for certain, his life has been completely turned upside down, I imagine George relishes what is happening right now. -
(Philly Fed) May 2019 Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey Results from the May Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey suggest continued growth for the region’s manufacturing sector. The survey’s indexes for general activity, shipments, and employment increased from their April readings. The new orders index remained positive but decreased modestly. The survey’s future activity index, after falling in recent months, was little changed, while the firms’ forecast for future employment improved. Current Indicators Suggest Continued Growth The diffusion index for current general activity increased from 8.5 in April to 16.6 this month (see Chart 1). Over 25 percent of the manufacturers reported increases in overall activity this month, while 9 percent reported decreases. The indexes for current shipments and new orders moved in opposite directions this month: The current shipments index increased 9 points, while the new orders index fell 5 points. The current inventories index fell 6 points to its first negative reading in four months. </snip> (NY Fed) Empire State Manufacturing Survey The monthly survey of manufacturers in New York State conducted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Business activity picked up significantly in New York State, according to firms responding to the May 2019 Empire State Manufacturing Survey. The headline general business conditions index climbed eight points to 17.8, its highest level in six months. New orders and shipments also grew at a faster pace than in recent months. Delivery times held steady, and inventories moved slightly lower. Labor market indicators pointed to small increases in employment and hours worked. Price indexes were little changed, suggesting that prices increased at about the same pace as last month. Indexes assessing the six-month outlook indicated that firms were significantly more optimistic about future conditions than they were in April. </snip>

Felix Sater was given a plea deal in 2009 and kept out of jail by Loretta Lynch (while she was US attorney for the eastern district of NY). The deal included sealing his records (for 10 years) and his becoming an FBI informant. Robert Mueller was FBI director in 2009. He also had ties to President Trump via NYC real estate development. With friends like that...

More on Deutsche shenanigans: German authorities raid 11 banks in offshore tax fraud probe Investigators target 8 wealthy clients of former Deutsche Bank offshore unit German criminal prosecutors, police and tax investigators have raided eleven German banks looking for evidence of suspected tax fraud by clients of a former Deutsche Bank offshore unit. </snip> At the core of the investigation is a small Virgin Islands-based unit that was part of Deutsche’s Global Trust Solutions business and was later sold by Deutsche to Bermuda-based lender N.T. Butterfield & Son. The transaction was announced in October 2017 and completed by the end of March 2018. Butterfield declined to comment. -

This is picked from a political Facebook group. The explanation is simple to understand (please, if any of the attorneys here can correct any mistakes, that would be great!) What everyone in the media is missing: Prosecutors and Investigators are not the same – and why a Connecticut Prosecutor AG Barr did not choose an investigator. Barr did not choose a special counsel (ie, an investigator with a defined mandate). He chose a Prosecutor. There is a legal difference. Prosecutors are tasked with prosecuting. It means criminal indictments are coming. You choose a prosecutor when an investigation is OVER. You choose a prosecutor only when there is evidence of wrongdoing – before you go to a grand jury. But there is more that the Mainstream Media – and even rightwing pundits like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh – are either ignoring or missing. Why Prosecutor John Durham? Durham is the ONLY Prosecutor in the DOJ with clearance to review Presidential materials. Mr. Durham has a history of investigating and prosecuting intelligence agency abuses, both in the CIA and the FBI. That required the highest level of security clearance. That level of clearance was granted, ironically, by Obama through Eric Holder during his investigation of the Bush Administration’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques. In other words, the evidence this Prosecutor has likely involves Obama’s Cabinet at a minimum, if not former President Obama himself.

US birth rate: 30 year low
Buffalo_Gal replied to BeginnersMind's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There are now better forms of birth control, a morning-after pill, access to early abortion, etc. and people take advantage of those options. My great-grandmother once told my grandfather (her youngest) that the perfect family size is "one". He responded, "But you had six children!" Her response, "But we didn't have access to the birth control methods you do today." My great-grandmother... who died before I was born said that. Big families were partly - we need the labor for the farm - and partly - it is very difficult to prevent pregnancy. Once America moved on from an agricultural society, once health-care got better so you didn't have a cemetery full of dead children that needed to be "replaced", once birth control became more accessible and women had control over birth control methods, once women had more options than to just stay home and bake cookies ... in other words a lot of things have contributed to birth rate stagnation and decline. Cost of living plays a part - kids ain't cheap (and I'm not talking education - even the cost of childcare when young is astronomical). So many reasons and many are personal choices. Is there a solution? Well, I am sure the Democrats will say more illegals. The EU tried doing that to bolster declining birth rates. Look at how well that turned out for them! -

I'd give the Hill credit for posting this stuff, if they were not doing so under "opinion". Today from John Solomon: State Department's red flag on Steele went to a senior FBI man well before FISA warrant </snip> Multiple sources confirm to me that the recipient of the State Department email was Special Agent Stephen Laycock, then the FBI’s section chief for Eurasian counterintelligence and now one of the bureau’s top executives as the assistant director for intelligence under Director Christopher Wray. The email to Laycock from Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec arrived eight days before the FBI swore to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that it had no derogatory information on Steele and used his anti-Trump dossier to secure a secret surveillance warrant to investigate Trump’s possible ties to Moscow. Officials tell me that Laycock immediately forwarded the information he received about Steele on Oct. 13, 2016, to the FBI team leading the Trump-Russia investigation, headed by then-fellow Special Agent Peter Strzok. </snip> -

Was this posted? Ecuador will give US all documents & devices Assange left in London embassy – report Ecuador's attorney general has informed Julian Assange's lawyer that the WikiLeaks co-founder's files, computer, mobile phones and other electronic devices will be seized during a search of the London embassy and sent to the US. WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Kristinn Hrafnsson tried unsuccessfully to retrieve Assange's personal belongings from Ecuador's UK embassy, where he had been holed up for almost seven years before his arrest and incarceration last month. However, the Ecuadorian government has reportedly greenlighted a US request to provide it with access to the documents and electronic devices left behind by the jailed WikiLeaks editor after he was hauled out of the embassy by the British police on April 11. </snip> -
