I agree and it's the media's portrayal of him as a white supremacist without any evidence that puts him in the "hero" category in a lot of people's minds. I'm sure the more moderate members of Congress on both sides just shake their heads at the opposing party apparatus focusing on the dumbest people on the far left and right. MTG was a QAnon believer so she may somehow take the mantle of being even dumber than AOC.

I think McDermott recognizes this and made a calculated decision to publicly call the refs out on an obvious missed roughing the passer call. As long as the public indoor mask mandates are consistent and implemented/removed by local data (positive case rate, hospitalizations, deaths), I think most people won't have a problem with it. Consistency is key though.
