  1. My guess is with McDermott and many other coaches it's not as much as the distraction but the paranoia that one of these HBO employees could be a hired spy with all the cameras and microphones that come's with this kind of TV production. Or as the Patriots used to call it, "Kraft productions." I think it was in 2019 when McDermott confronted some Patriots staffers who were a little bit too much on their side of the field during pregame warmups. I wouldn't be surprised to see some extra security at the facility this training camp period.
  2. No tax on tips and overtime - people who work a full time job who don't make tips or have available overtime are now subsidizing them. SALT deductions reinstated to limit of 40k - doctors in NY are now being subsidized by an auto mechanic in Alabama. GOP at least extend tax cuts bu don't reduce spending in any real way. The usual they have to pass it though because of the slim majority they have. Trump when it comes to actual bills being passed through Congess has always been a RINO or part of the establishment you all loathe.
  3. I've never really cared. Last year's Bills are kind of where the Lions are this year with both coordinators leaving. They might take a step back but they'll still be looked at as Super Bowl contenders. I always view it through the Vegas lens because that's where the true national public perception lies. We were at over/under 10.5 wins last year and 11.5 this year. Not much of a difference. When we have Allen in his prime at QB the spotlight and pressure will always be on us. It beats the "could sneak into a wildcard game" days though.
  4. The Bills have to approve everything that HBO's allowed to put on all the episodes so it's up to them when it comes to the WR discussion.
  5. It's somewhat amusing that you didn't understand why they had to declare it. Just rip the band-aid off and do away with the kickoff.
  6. It's pry the opposite. This would be considered a very old school play that if it was run during the 60's we would've looked back and laughed at it. The NFL has made rules to enhance the offense which has led to the popularity of the game exploding to the point where the first round of the NFL Draft gets about the same ratings as a World Series game. The ONLY reason Goodell pushed to ban this is it's bad TV.
  7. Seems safe.... I've successfully drove home drunk over 50 times so their isn't any proof that it might lead to a crash.
  8. Yes. That's why they have to declare it. Lol. I think they should just eliminate the kickoff completely and have the offense start at their own 20 yard line.
  9. Love Dion but it's hard to see him making an All Pro team with Penel Sewell, Lane Johnson, Tristin Wirfs, Jordan Mailata, and Rashawn Slater in this league. Definitely deserves a pro bowl nod though.
  10. Look at this picture and tell me what you learned.
  11. Pry the main reason. This leads to more blowouts and less compelling games. I miss the more physical product they put on the court a few decades ago but I'm also too old to be the "target market" so maybe these kids like their three point shooting contest.
  12. All they really needed to do was extend the TCJA and defund some of Biden's big spending ineffective programs. However, they took care of their SALT buddies. Now a guy working as a car mechanic in Alabama can subsidize a doctor in NY making $450k a year. No taxes on tips and no taxes on overtime means that workers who don't work for tips or are offered overtime can subsidize those who do. Now the bill will pass and fiscal conservatives will raise their hands in the air and say "well, we had to make concessions to make it through because of the slim majority." Basically, business as usual. That's fine but let's not pretend Trump isn't part of the establishment when this bill goes through.
  13. Glad we got a Prime Time game but would've preferred it at home.
  14. Find a friend that has HBO and watch it at his house.
  15. He has two separate jobs. One on the competition committee and one as the head coach. What he does on the competition committee should have nothing to do with what he does as a head coach. He'll keep running it as long as the league allows it.
  16. I disagree. People just chalked his rookie year up to bad coaching. I think the combination of his performance in the Rams Super Bowl and then the Rams trading him for Matt Stafford who they immediately won the Super Bowl with turned him into an average QB at best is burned in people's minds. They accredit his success to being in a QB friendly Ben Johnson offense. I was thinking Alex Smith 2.0 but Matt Ryan is pry the better comparison.
  17. You never know what goes on behind the scenes. Goodell could've promised him no Holiday games if he leads the charge to get this eyesore banned because horrible TV means less eyes in the long run. If you want to go the non cynical route, McDermott saw what happened in the NFC Championship and the Redskins keep trying to jump the count at the one yard line. It looked like an eye sore and you can see the potential for injury there with them trying to leap over lineman before the ball is even snapped. They could've easily went helmet to helmet with Hurts. The NFL has always been a reactive league so he's basically worried that if they don't ban it here will be a catastrophic injury on the play down the road. That's what it seemed like to me based on how he's answered the questions at the last owners meaning. Even though we benefit from the tush push.
  18. I really don't like anything gimmicky and it feels gimmicky. I have the same feeling about the new dynamic kickoff and even when they changed the extra point attempt from 20 to 33 yards. I think the mistake the NFL made was to try and ban the tush push after the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Maybe table it until next year. Even if it's an ugly play leading to bad TV, it still felt like you were punishing the Eagles for doing something so good that the rest of the league felt the need to banish it. Last off-season would've been the ideal time when they were awful down the stretch and the Bucs fleeced them in the WC game.
  19. I hope they focus only on the two roided guys Beane signed despite knowing about it.
  20. He wasn't at the meetings so I'm assuming he had someone fill in for him.
  21. Teams that have been on the training camp edition in the last eight years are exempt. That would've been my choice though.
  22. I'm just guessing here but the way I've seen stuff like this play out in the past is only those that don't meet the work requirements for government assistance are ineligible to receive SNAP Benefits if they have a dependent between the age of 8 to 18.
  23. RIP. Prayers to him and his family. Very popular owner with Colts fans. He was always praised for being a passionate fan but knowing to not meddle in any football decisions.
  24. If you go by the over/under preseason win total the teams that did Hard Knocks are 9-10-1 since its inception. No real impact.
  25. Say what you want about Stalin breadlines but "everybody ate."
