If it’s an ask and not a requirement I’m all for it. I won’t begrudge anyone exercising their personal choice, whatever that is.
-
I agree steadfastly with your position. I also wish you the best of health and good fortune.

Dangerous territory. Simply existing in an area should not be considered an act of intent vs someone else’s health. Individual rights stand above all. No one has a right to perfect health. Vagaries of nature exist. Someone can get influenza and die; they certainly got it from someone else. Again not saying this is influenza, but the idea is the same. We must take ultimate responsibility for our own health, even if that means avoiding certain situations for some people.

It is to me, and I wear a covering now only in protest. Face covering( not a mask) with various messages - I have a few of them. Also either a Trump hat or a **** Cuomo hat. Freedoms / rights should never be surrendered lightly imo.
-
If Lord Cuomo said it was okay, I’d go to a restaurant or sporting event tomorrow. I’ll get on a flight as soon as restrictions are lifted for travel to my favorite vacation Island . If there is more space between seats and more expensive tickets that’s fine. Not big on movie theaters, but I never have been. Couple times a year proposition for me, but others feel differently. Schools are probably okay now, but shelve it until the fall if they want to.

It’s too restrictive and we are not a society that wears face coverings. Personal choice is best.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Boatdrinks replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It makes plenty of sense, and there’s no contradiction. Most individuals infected with Coronavirus will recover. A small percentage won’t,, others will need medical care. It’s largely based on your individual health factors and genetics. The people should be free to go about life, and incorporate the existence of a new virus into their overall risk assessment. People make these decisions every day of their lives to varying degrees. This is no different . Which business we patronize or activities we participate is up to the individual , and that is as it should be. -
Masks should be optional in the USA. No one is going to sit in a restaurant to eat or go watch a game at a bar with a mask on, anyway. Those who wish to stay home or wear an N 95 mask can do so. Influenza is also contagious, so where does it stop ? The overwhelming majority of those who do get infected with Covid 19 will recover, and a large portion will have no symptoms. Personal responsibility and personal risk assessment win over trampling freedoms. Spacing is a reasonable concession for a time.

NYC is really it’s own state in many ways and needs to be treated differently. No one is driving from Flushing to West Seneca for a haircut.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Boatdrinks replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
We will see exactly what this means, I guess. With Cuomo , and to an increasing extent Poloncarz, I expect the worst. I’ll hope for the best, but neither one of them inspires much confidence. It’s pretty clear from the numbers ( actual results and not projections) that it’s largely an individual health issue. The governments role at this point should exclusively deal with maintaining capacity in the health care system, not restricting the rights of the people to go on with daily life. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Hare-brained comparison , as per usual. -
I cannot think of one thing that would be better about America with a Biden as Prez. As for the LSM, it can and does work that way now. If you’re a lib, everything is spun around the progressive narrative. Literally every single thing they decide to talk about. Even sports aren’t free from their nonsense.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

If a “ huge technology breakthrough “ = a long time, that idea should be jettisoned. We don’t have the luxury of time. The medical / health experts need to realize we are not looking at a perfect solution/ outcome here. -
That would work for some businesses. For others that operate on small profit margins and need volume ( ie bars, restaurants) people should just have to use their own discretion and maybe even ppe if they choose. Otherwise, they should stay away from those establishments until treatments or a vaccine emerge.

Is this for real ? Then again, Blas is a complete moron. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

With our media, I can imagine a nationwide panic over just about anything. Heck, Wuhan virus led to head scratching run on toilet paper of all things. Would a potential food shortage lead to an oversupply of TP ? I don’t know, but anything’s possible. I think they need to find a way to deal with any issues at meat processing plants, and certain items could be in short supply or see major price increases. It would have to be on a massive scale though, to cause significant food shortages. Maybe I’m off base, but I don’t see that as likely. Overreaction, however is expected at this point. -
Makes sense to me. The shutdowns are far too extreme for the actual problem, creating a larger problem that is much worse. Some precautions and guidelines for those who will be around the most vulnerable should be the focus. Those who are somewhat more vulnerable than the healthy population should take personal precautions when indoors around larger groups of people. Flattening the curve appears to have been a success. It’s time to end the insanity ; the ridiculous notion that the government should trample individual rights to prevent anyone from contracting a virus.

I would say no, because I think Trump supporters don’t have one unifying reason of why they like him. Not any single, unified reason. I’m not sure which Trump comment or statement you refer to , but for the most part I love seeing the overreaction and just how much a tizzy they work themselves into. It’s annoying that lots of people actually buy the response hook, line and sinker but still it’s entertaining. I love that Trump is unconventional and not PC. He puts these people in their place ! They’re arrogant and proselytizing, and should be talked down to so they can be seen for what they really are. He can ramble at times, which isn’t my favorite thing about his style but I love how combative he is with these LSM types.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Boatdrinks replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I’d like to see more numbers on the % of hospitalized that have an underlying health issue. NYC numbers were striking. This is looking more like a personal/ individual health issue . Still potential to flood hospitals , but it seems like they’ve ramped up capacity to deal with it. -

The left is okay with sexual abuse and assault, as long as it was committed by people they like. Being in power is more important. -
Rd 5, Pick 167: QB Jake Fromm, Georgia
Boatdrinks replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought GMs were supposed to draft a QB every year. Saw it on the board... -
This is a fair and just societal trade-off . Imagine how many lives we could save if many more people worked from home, others received unemployment to stay home ... perpetually ( not everyone can have an “ essential job” after all) stores were online order and pick up only , and all restaurants were take out only. And we left stay at home orders in place ! If we did this continually , deaths of all kinds would go down substantially. Two years ! WTF ! Madness, sheer madness. Health officials are not economists. They will also continue to be employed. That’s the problem ; health officials will say it won’t be safe forever and we should stay locked down to avoid CoVid 19. That’s not realistic though for a society, but they’re only focus is avoiding CoVid 19. It’s just not real life. People will die from things we don’t have vaccines or treatments for. It’s like saying we should all stay inside forever to cut down on skin cancer deaths.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Boatdrinks replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yes, it has bought some time, but probably not enough to reduce a lot of deaths. For many it will just be moving the dates up, unless they make a personal decision to continue sheltering in place. Business will adapt and need to be allowed to do so. People adapting will be the biggest factor imo. That means the vulnerable need to avoid crowds and wear an N 95 mask. Their families and friends should keep 6 feet away and avoid prolonged periods of time near them while indoors. At least until there are effective treatments, but for those most at risk it may mean major changes to activities and reducing trips to public spaces. Everyone else should be able to carry on pretty much as normal in relatively short order. Until treatments and or a vaccine exist, it will need to become part of one’s personal risk assessment.
