Buffalo Bills worst draft choices.
Boatdrinks replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Willis McGahee was a pretty good player. To me, he looks out of place on that list. Whitner wasn’t awful, but was drafted way too high for his talent. -

No it doesn’t mean that; although no treatment for anything likely has a 100% recovery success rate. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Interesting. I recall early on some scientific analysis of data from Europe and the US suggested there may be a correlation between severity of Coronavirus symptoms and certain blood types. I wonder if this may be part of the reason for it. -

I know someone who was hospitalized and tested positive for Coronavirus. They were isolated and given oxygen. Thankfully, they are home now and recovered. -

This ^^^. I believe it comes down to expectations. Modern society has gotten too comfortable with what science/ healthcare and the medical community can provide us. The fact is it does not and cannot give us a virtual guarantee of protection from the dangers present in the natural world. Many seem to expect that such protection should be provided to them. The only way to stay away from this thing is to lock ourselves in our homes and never interact. The economy won’t survive that, so we must carry on. Humanity has faced potentially fatal illnesses in the past and managed to pull through. Surrendering freedoms to fear isn’t acceptable to the human drive and will to survive. -

Lots of people going to be looking for cheap scam money after this shutdown. No surprise there. -

Loved when he asked the reporter “ who are you working for , China ? “ Trumps briefings are the best. -
Again, the Giants were without Simms during a portion of their first meeting in mid DEC of the ‘90 season. They also defeated the 49ers and Montana on the road the week prior to SB XXV with that same backup QB. There was no reason to think the Bills would wipe the floor with the Giants unless you gave too much weight to 51-3 vs Raiders.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

I don’t think there will be a problem with people wanting to get back to work. Most of them want to get back already. There will be a lot less places for them to do so, and that’s a bigger problem . -
Well, your take on Norwood isn’t exactly true. Yes, he slipped on an XP attempt in Cleveland but it was due to the hilariously bad “grass field “ in CLE municipal. I attended that game with about 8 friends from work; we got tix at Kaufman’s ( lol, they had a Ticketmaster desk in those days). It was a baseball stadium as well, and we got got seats in the field boxes behind the Bills bench about 5 rows up. We couldn’t believe how awful the field was when we got to our seats during warmups. It was ( I’m being serious) mostly dirt with what looked to be hay/ straw sprinkled on top and actually spray -painted green. Unreal! Footing was a problem all game to say the least, and Norwoods plant leg went out from under him. It was critical , because the Bills needed a TD now to win rather than a FG to tie. This led to the fateful Harmon play , which was such a perfectly placed pass by Kelly that we jumped to our feet certain the Bills had won. To our dismay we realized he had dropped the pass. Incredible and made for a depressing ride back to Buffalo.

You’re correct on the 3rd and long play- and the Bills defense in general. They failed that day, but the offense? What makes you think they should have handled the Giants fairly easily ? They played a few weeks prior in the meadowlands/ Giants stadium , and both Kelly and Simms left the game due to injury. The Bills won by a small margin. That same Giants team defeated the high flying 49ers on the road in the NFC title game. The 49ers likely would have been a slight favorite over the Bills in SB XXV had they prevailed. Belichick’s D was excellent, but did about the same vs Bills in both contests. The Bills defense , however was much worse at the fundamentals in SB XXV. That matchup vs the Giants ground attack and poor tackling is what cost them the win, not some mythically great gameplan by BB.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Boatdrinks replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yep, a lot of unrealistic scenarios assumed in that long winded blame -game piece. The type of massive testing needed to have any hope of containing the virus doesn’t exist and couldn’t be performed in the time frame needed. In a perfect world there may have been a way. This virus simply spreads to easily and the country is too vast and open to have had any chance to keep it out or even contain it. -

Big deal, these are isolated incidents. . There’s been a general crime surge in NYC since the misguided bail reform went through. The first quarter numbers are in and compared to the same quarter last year show burglary and robbery up 20+% and car thefts are up a mind boggling 61%. That’s with a few weeks of March lockdown baked in . Incredible and there would be a massive public outcry if not for the corona crisis. -
If it were not subsidized , and folks paid actual market rate for dairy products we would hear constant whining about how the poor cannot afford to get their vitamin D from food sources. There is also something to be said for not being dependent on foreign counties for too much of the food supply. The reasons for subsidizing certain things isn’t the same as the intent of socialism.

Completely prepared might be unrealistic. However , woefully unprepared coupled with warnings to that effect going unheeded is not acceptable. That’s part of the NYS situation. The media didn’t save lives, nor were they “ right” about the pandemic. They were furiously covering a sham impeachment and barely bothered to discuss anything else. There may have been some opinion expressed here or there, but nothing beyond that. Certainly not as a whole. -

No, that’s not what I’m saying. While there are some folks like that, it’s not what I was referring to. Opinion is fine, but when it is disguised / presented as fact then it’s a problem. We all know slavery happened, but it really was long ago to people that are alive now. -
I’d imagine they have a gameplan that includes such a scenario. That scenario will probably be dictated locally and there may be a great deal of difference from locality to locality in what’s allowable. The NFL, however doesn’t rely on a live crowd for much of its revenue. The main goal will be to have live programming for network TV consumption . A crowded stadium would be ideal, but it’s a peripheral enhancement and not required. The NFL doesn’t need that to play games. They need testing of players / coaches etc but not a vaccine.

Unfortunately , the LSM won’t allow the POTUS to pull the country together , and express dismay if a poll shows he has support. It is also unfortunate that many believe the drivel and are pretty much too dumb to tell. They’ve been conditioned to believe in wokeness, gender fluidity, shaming of Caucasians and that America is systemically racist. They won’t change the channel ;rather they will regurgitate the garbage they are force fed daily. -

Interesting stuff. Just a guess, but perhaps we’re seeing community spread influenced mostly by cultural/ hygiene habits in those areas. Population density and weather don’t seem as important. There weren’t any. Cuomo will not own it, and that’s the problem. He begs the Feds for help, but blames them at the same time. -

I agree. I really despise Cuomo. He had NY woefully unprepared for this , yet throws all blame at Federal government. Sadly, his Democratic base will lap it up.
