  1. Probably. First, they know they’re playing vs a QB that’s at least the equal of their own. That affects the offensive gameplan / approach. Second, the Bills defense just isn’t very good right now. It’s been better ( on paper) in previous years, but also with many key injuries. The Chiefs also have an all time great offensive mind as their HC. So yes, the odds are pretty high.
  2. What we see is what we get : perhaps they just aren’t all that good. There is no magic switch to flip and step it up. Interesting that while “ pre angry” , there’s only a small part of you that hopes the defense / Bills HC is successful. That says a lot.
  3. Can’t disagree. Bass should kick through EZ every time. Not worth the risk kicking short
  4. I’d love it if the Bills had that defense’s run stuffing ability right now.
  5. It is crazy. Eliminating the bye week for the 2 seed has seen to that. Breaking news : the playoffs don’t start for another week. The Super Bowl is in February.
  6. As I said , no need to watch the game.
  7. Wow thats a pretty negative outlook. No need to watch , may as well just check phone for updates. Anyway, I wonder what the winning % in the playoffs is for teams without a takeaway ?
  8. Of course, the Bills did defeat KC and the Lions head to head, so that justifies the ranking more than a random loss here or there. Some may feel differently. I’d put the Bills at 2 behind KC ( they’re the world champions until they aren’t ) maybe even 3.
  9. I think they are what they are at this point. Capable of being decent to good, not great. They can complement a high powered offense, but won’t save the day if the offense struggles. Everyone knows this. They are relatively healthy, and I wouldn’t be surprised if McD takes a few more risks vs the better teams the Bills will be facing after the WC round. He has Josh Allen, and the more conservative defensive approach has failed in several playoff games.
  10. Ah , going for the nostalgia hire back to when the Jets were good. These don’t usually work well. He should just ask Terry.
  11. Exactly. Sometimes fans forget that somebody actually has to play the game. No 90 man rosters in regular season football.
  12. While the best teams usually make it to the divisional round, I don’t think the best always move on from there. Most games come down to a few plays here and there , and you only need to be better on that day. It’s not like a series in other sports where the best team usually prevails. I think the beauty of the playoff is that you just need to get in, and there have been plenty of surprising results in the NFL playoffs over the years.
  13. Takes a special brand of suck to pull it off though.
  14. Yeah sorry man it’s blurry video and my eyes suck anyway lol
  15. I could see it, but I don’t think KC wants the Bengals in the playoffs. Why let a top QB in when you can rest everyone and get a rookie QB in there?
  16. The play in the top video looks like a Hamlin gaffe at first blush. The whole drop back thing only works if you have great reactions and sure tackling. Often the Bills D is lacking in these skills.
  17. In reality , that’s not who any defense oriented HC is. They don’t bring in guys with a completely different system or philosophy. It’s just not how it works. This isn’t unique to McDermott as you are making it out to be. If Pegula decides he wants a totally different defense, then he will have to move on from McD. Can’t imagine a play call would have one defender picking off another. I don’t love the drop back stuff but someone screwed the pooch in that coverage.
  18. Most Bills fans don’t , but you can probably not sweat it. KC remembers Burrow and Co winning AFCCG at Arrowhead a few years back. They’re in position to essentially decide who gets in. They won’t go all out to beat the Broncos and let Cincy in the tournament. If the Broncos puke on their shoes, Miami is in with a win regardless of what the Bengals do. The Steelers would probably like to face Houston in the WC round instead of Baltimore, so they will be motivated too. The Bengals fought back this season, but will most likely be watching the playoffs from the couch.
  19. Yes you are. Totally new defensive system means new players, probably a couple of seasons to put together. New offensive system ( again) with similar requirements most likely. Then top it off with a coordinator who hasn’t proven they can be a decent HC, much less a very good one. Again, the only acceptable option here would be a proven NFL HC, preferably one with a championship ring. If you want a coordinator, make Joe Brady the HC. Anyway, my hope is the Bills reach the AFC title game at a minimum and these changes aren’t necessary in the peak of Josh Allen’s career.
  20. If the Bills can’t reach the AFCCG or Super Bowl and a HC change is made, it could be concerning though. A popular candidate from fans is Ben Johnson or someone like that. As you mention, there isn’t much of a track record for this type of change. A more logical replacement would be a proven NFL veteran HC. You cited Gruden as an example. When you have a superstar QB and a team that consistently wins 11 or so games a year, turning the keys over to a “ hot coordinator “ is suspect at best. You are trying to extract the final degrees of improvement from a winning team; to win a championship. Starting over is not an option.
  21. Fortunately neither Kolar or Broussard has a vote. I don’t love some of the names on that list of 50, but I don’t believe nuance is lost on the majority. Particularly the longtime sportswriters.
  22. Only thing I care about schedule wise is not drawing the Monday night time slot in WC round. With the Bills being the 2 seed I doubt they get stuck with that.
  23. Most surprising to me is 509 points scored in 16 games. Just wasn’t expecting that at all.
  24. This is correct. Last two were 1990 and 1988. Bills made the AFCCG both times, fwiw
  25. That’s about it. 13 wins in the bank plus the 2 seed. Aside from Josh keeping his consecutive starts streak alive, this amounts to a bye week.
