  1. He showed a lot of improvement the first 3 games, more decisive with his reads, very accurate, taking the short throws, etc. Bu he has to break that habit of trying to make the long throw downfield when he's out scrambling. He is throwing into coverage and it just doesn't work. He did more throwaways the first 3 games, but reverted to some bad habits this past Sunday. Young QBs have their ups and downs and Sunday was a down.
  2. So from a statistical perspective, you want to take a sample set of N=1, the poor outing Sunday, and conflate that into some sort of conclusion? That doesn't make sense. He played bad Sunday. The three games before he showed more pocket awareness, very good accuracy, got the ball out earlier. Shoed he was getting it. I attribute the bad game Sunday to two things: the moment being a bit too big for him at this point in his career (he came out too amped up, which is something he has to figure out), and a guy named Belicihick.
  3. Oh please. He screwed up and the coach held him accountable. The OP and a couple others here probably want to pat him on the head and give him a participation trophy.,
  4. I would buy a plane ticket for Favre to be here Monday morning so he can spend two weeks with Josh.
  5. The game you play is you have a built in bias against Allen. You say you’re a fan but pretty much every comment to make about the guy is negative. He stunk the first half last week. He was a lot better the second half before he got his bell rung. He has to realize games are not won or lost just on his arm. He has to take shorter throws, throw it away, etc. He got a very good lesson from Prof Belichick Sunday, let’s see how much he absorbs.
  6. He had a bad game no question. Could have done a lot more to win it. But basic math tells you if the punt isn’t blocked the score was 10-9.
  7. I think Josh was too amped up and the game was too big a stage for him at this point in his career. That can be fixed. I think he also fell victim to a Belichick coached defense, which unfortunately for us and for the league can't be fixed until he retires.
  8. I was afraid this would happen. I work in reproductive medicine and quadruplet pregnancies are extraordinarily high risk. I have seen first hand the effects of pregnancy loss, and it is devastating for the couples that go through them. My prayers to the Whites that they find the strength to cope with their loss.
  9. No. The brain is living tissue with cells, blood supply, etc. Concussion can affect and damage those so healing has to take place.
  10. I said before the game as long as Belichick is the Pat’s HC we will be swimming upstream. We all may hate to admit it but he’s the best ever at what he does.
  11. I will admit I think Zay gets a bad rap. But yesterday, man. You have to knock the ball down and prevent the int (and yes, Allen can’t throw it to begin with). But he also dropped a low throw again (not the end zone one, that was a tough catch) that could have made a big difference. Could Duke offer more? I’m thinking yes.
  12. Honestly, if I were Daboll I would have Allen watch the game tape and focus on what Brady did Sunday.
  13. The last few posts here are kind of a microcosm of how messed up chat rooms can get. A physician who deals with head injuries offers educated medical opinion on the hit Allen took yesterday and I see some arguing. I teach anatomy and physiology and I wouldn’t argue with him. All I know is the moment he got hit he was down and not moving and players were immediately waving for the medical staff. That would suggest it was a pretty bad shot to the head.
  14. Luck is a good one. Big Ben and Flacco relies on a strong D and strong running game, which may not be a bad idea for the Bills. Let Allen develop.
  15. To be fair it wouldn’t matter if you compare him to guys playing now either. Each guy is different, each coaching staff they have is different, and so on. It is fair I think to say that young QBs need to learn and develop.
  16. Josh came out amped up too much. Kind of like the season opener. When he chilled out he went through his progressions well, went to the open receiver and looked just fine. He needs to see that. Daboll and Dorsey need to help him see it.
  17. Daboll and Dorsey need to keep drilling it into Allen’s head that he should look at those shorter routes, maybe even make those his first read.
  18. Brees has 17 TDS and 16 picks his first full season. Goff suffered his rookie year. Should I go on?
  19. I think the first 3 games show us he has what it takes, but he has to get consistent. The first few games he was getting the ball out on time, taking the shorter throws. Yes, a couple poor decisions but overall good and brought his team back three times. That shows great potential to me. I’m hoping yesterday was a combination of not being ready for the bright lights and Belichick.
  20. And Jackson has had tough games the last two. Watson himself admitted he cost the Texans the game yesterday. Newton had ups and downs; going into this season how many folks were talking about whether he was done. Jones has played two games and I will guarantee he will have bad games this year. Allen has a tough game yesterday. He was bad. He played pretty well the first three games of the year. You claim we overestimate Allen because we want it so badly. I would say we have too many around here that are hypercritical of a kid figuring it out while giving other guys on other teams passes when they do the same.
  21. How many games has Allen played? And I mentioned Mahomes as a exception, did I not? Instead of the word rookie, use young. Young QB’s -I’ll define it as two years or less in the league. The have learning curves. That work better for you?
  22. Yes it can go away. It’s a learning process. The only first year QB (and by starts Allen is finishing his first year) I have ever seen who walked into the league and got it right off the bat was Marino. Every other one took time either on the bench or playing and suffering before the light came on. The only one I could remotely put near Marino is Mahomes but he sat for a year learning before taking the reins. QBs make mistakes. Especially young ones and Josh made a ton yesterday to be sure (Belichick has done that to dozens of young QBs through the years). But even old guys still mess up - the pick Brady threw in the end zone yesterday, I have no idea what he was thinking.
  23. Disagree. He has had some picks to be sure, some his fault and some not. But he has been solid overall till yesterday and being able to bring your team back from deficits is a good thing to have in your young QB. i’ll say It again: get rid of the dumb late throws downfield trying to make something out of nothing and get rid of fading back too far in the face of the rush (can’t tell how many times I yelled throw the ball yesterday) and the kid will be really good. He was doing that for the most part the first three games; he didn’t yesterday. How much that was him not being ready for the big game, how much was it Belichick, hard to say.
  24. Yesterday was bad. No one is arguing that. But quit making other rookies out to be great when they have a good game and pooh pooh when Allen did. Young QBs take time to develop, Jones will have bad games too. So will Minshaw. Allen got schooled by a master in Belichick. He needs to learn from it. No doubt.
