Let’s go boys. Matriculate the ball down the field. -
Josh Allen’s deep ball hasn’t been there so far
oldmanfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I specifically watched every throw the first two games. I had 2-3 that were truly off target. -

Stop the nonsense. I watched every throw he made the first two games and he was off on maybe 2 or 3. He had a bad game last week, got out ahead of his skis a bit in a big moment and his mechanics suffered for it. But the first three games he was fine. -
What the Bills need to do offensively to win on Sunday
oldmanfan replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Smart football. No dumb penalties. Josh needs to be the Josh before last week; which reads, ball out on time. And Singletary coming back. -
Careful now. I live just outside Indy but of course grew up in WNY. One can only presume the OP is currently suffering from a concussion to put that post together.

Would you have taken 3-2 at the bye?
oldmanfan replied to benderbender's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the beginning of the season? Would have been quite happy. As of today? I'd be disappointed because we should have won last Sunday and I think our D should give Mariotta fits on Sunday. Even if we are 3-2 though, we should be optimistic going forward. The supposed tough schedule we have later in the year is looking like it won't be that formidable. The Dolphins are nothing, the finale against the Jets should have them running for the bus by then, the Steelers aren't the Steelers of old, Denver is trash as are the Skins. -

Is Jason Peters the greatest Eagle of all time?
oldmanfan replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if I could fit him into the top 5 to be honest. White, Bednarik, Van Buren have to be in the top 5. Dawkins has to be up there, as does Tommy MacDonald and Norm Van Brocklin. I'd put Peters above guys like Wilbur Montgomery, McCoy, and above Cunningham and McNabb. -
Josh Allen - Accuracy on the Long Ball
oldmanfan replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what you’re saying is that it’s not accuracy, on the deep ball, it’s throwing it higher so the receiver can adjust to it. Which is what I said. I also think he’ll be fine in the end zone. More of that is patterns than throws. -
Josh Allen - Accuracy on the Long Ball
oldmanfan replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stop it. The pick to Brown where he didn't see McCourty was right there as well. Hit Brown in the hands but McCourty made a good play. I swear this kid just cannot win around here. How many people were screaming when Taylor was here that they'd accept INT,s, that the QB should not be afraid to take shots down the field, that a long pick, is like a punt anyway, and on and on and on. The difference with his long throws this season to me are several fold: one, he is throwing a lot of them while he's scrambling and isn't able to set his mechanics properly; two, he is throwing too late and into coverage when he does, especially when scrambling to the right side, and that is the type of recurrent mistake you have to coach out of him; and three, WRs aren't adjusting well. Take any NFL QB and put him on a field nd have him try to hit a small target from 40 yards away, and they won't be as precise or accurate. Long completions are as much the QB putting the ball in a place where the receiver can make a play, AND the receiver seeing the ball flight and adjusting to that. They need to continue working the short patterns, Josh needs to continue his development in recognizing coverages pre-snap and go where the correct reacd is, some play action perhaps. As those things progress, the deep balls will come. -

And there’s been green flags. Why do you insist on accentuating the negative? -
How is Josh Allen being coached?
oldmanfan replied to Stallions's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Couldn't agree more. One thing I've been wondering this week is if Daboll could go to a scripted approach. Script the first 10 plays or so to start the game; I recall that Bill Walsh did something similar with Montana and Young and that seemed to work out rather well. Scripting so Josh knows exactly what call he's making, where to go with the ball, etc. might be beneficial as he develops. -

He showed a lot of improvement the first 3 games, more decisive with his reads, very accurate, taking the short throws, etc. Bu he has to break that habit of trying to make the long throw downfield when he's out scrambling. He is throwing into coverage and it just doesn't work. He did more throwaways the first 3 games, but reverted to some bad habits this past Sunday. Young QBs have their ups and downs and Sunday was a down. -

So from a statistical perspective, you want to take a sample set of N=1, the poor outing Sunday, and conflate that into some sort of conclusion? That doesn't make sense. He played bad Sunday. The three games before he showed more pocket awareness, very good accuracy, got the ball out earlier. Shoed he was getting it. I attribute the bad game Sunday to two things: the moment being a bit too big for him at this point in his career (he came out too amped up, which is something he has to figure out), and a guy named Belicihick. -

Oh please. He screwed up and the coach held him accountable. The OP and a couple others here probably want to pat him on the head and give him a participation trophy., -
The Athletic: Brett Favre’s Advice to Josh Allen

I would buy a plane ticket for Favre to be here Monday morning so he can spend two weeks with Josh. -

The game you play is you have a built in bias against Allen. You say you’re a fan but pretty much every comment to make about the guy is negative. He stunk the first half last week. He was a lot better the second half before he got his bell rung. He has to realize games are not won or lost just on his arm. He has to take shorter throws, throw it away, etc. He got a very good lesson from Prof Belichick Sunday, let’s see how much he absorbs. -

He had a bad game no question. Could have done a lot more to win it. But basic math tells you if the punt isn’t blocked the score was 10-9. -
I was afraid this would happen. I work in reproductive medicine and quadruplet pregnancies are extraordinarily high risk. I have seen first hand the effects of pregnancy loss, and it is devastating for the couples that go through them. My prayers to the Whites that they find the strength to cope with their loss.

Josh Allen in concussion protocol: Update cleared 10/5
oldmanfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. The brain is living tissue with cells, blood supply, etc. Concussion can affect and damage those so healing has to take place.
