  1. Raw abilities like Sammy's are tough to find in the 2nd, I agree with that, but raw ability doesn't win games. Can you find similar production to Sammy in the 2nd? A ~1000 yard guy like Desean Jackson? I believe so. Mcdermott and Beane clearly prefer to invest their money at other positions. Great quote here. I get the appeal of draft picks, I really do, but when your pick turns into a quality starter, and we had both with Sammy & Darby, you already got past the biggest hurdle, which is developing talent! I'm sure the "bust rate" is out there, but I've heard 45-55% for 1st and 2nd round picks. When you have a proven commodity, not sure I always agree with subjecting yourself to that risk again.
  2. You can't judge this trade until those 2nd & 3rd round picks are used. If they bust, or are significantly lesser players than Sammy/Darby, it was a bad move. Sammy and Darby are both young, their best years may still be ahead of them. I understand the Sammy trade, but Darby still stings. Can't have too many quality corners, and he's shown the ability to be a great one.
  3. Good post. Sammy and Chad Kelly - BBMB & 2BD All Pros I wish him the best in LA.
  4. Elite QB & elite coach is a tough combination to beat. I don't think anyone can really push the whole "one would be garbage without the other" narrative anymore. Take Brady out of the equation temporarily, they still have only one guy being coach & GM, are notoriously ruthless, have ridiculous year to year scheme changes and can convince players to give them hometown discounts frequently. The "buy in" there is insane. I just don't think you can chase their model.
  5. The Patriots model is not sustainable for anyone that isn't Bill Belichick. You're better off trying to emulate the Seahawks, Packers or Steelers.
  6. Our hand was likely forced with Gilmore due to poor cap management We had 2 quality corners to build around. We now have 1. EJ Gaines is a nobody. Trading players for draft picks makes sense when they're 32 and expensive, not 23 and contended for defensive rookie of the year in 2015.
  7. Here we are, winning the offseason again. I'll trust them when they build a consistent championship contender.
  8. Tre & Darby as your up and coming corners is something solid to build on. Inconsistent in the past two years, but the talent is there and only 23. Who the hell is EJ Gaines?
  9. Not a tank, when we cut Kyle and Lesean, lets talk. I think it is clear that regardless of how Sammy produced in 2017, he wasn't staying long term. Stings to lose Darby, that is the one that pisses me off. I was really excited about seeing him and Tre for many years.

  11. STRIP SACK MAYBIN http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-miss-plays/09000d5d8125b164/Pre-WK-4-Can-t-Miss-Play-Maybin-making-plays MAYHEW, MAYBIN. QB, CRAVIN' Yes, Trubisky was the #2 overall pick. I would hope he has the quality arm strength, accuracy and mechanics to build on by default, but he did show that. I am sure he would have looked different if Von Miller & Shane Ray were rushing him.
  12. He did look fine, but consider the environment. The issues with preseason evaluation are very well known. Remember when Aaron Maybin got sacks in the preseason?
  13. OJ Howard is a good one. Yeah, Alabama didn't feel like the getting the ball to a top 20 NFL prospect because of scheme, what? Garrett Bolles - very limited playing experience and raw, but plays nasty and is super light on his feet. Great talent & potential. Sounds like he has already locked down the starting LT job in Denver.
  14. Yes, agree with much of this. I get that is a transition, but I think that for a top tier QB prospect, learning how to 1) take a snap from center and 2) work back to a 3-7 step drops is relatively easy, and will not be the reason a QB fails in this league. QB will fail because of 1) Injuries 2) Inaccuracy 3) Poor on field decision making and 4) Poor off the field decision making. Yes, footwork & releases could be a reason for inaccuracy, but if passes are on target, coaches probably won't give a damn how they look throwing the ball.
  15. Footwork is important, so is understanding a scheme that is suited for the NFL, but that doesn't have anything to do with taking a snap under center. These are world class athletes - it is not a monumental task for them to complete. Tell me about the guy who busted because of "poor footwork" - I'd sure like to see an example. He likely busted because he was inaccurate, which could be caused by a poor release, footwork, inadequate height to see above the line, etc. etc.
  16. The Romans watched gladiators murder each other for a few hundred years, surely football can have a longer duration then that, right?
  17. If Paxton, or any 1st round QB, is a bust, it won't be because they couldn't take a snap from center.
  18. He hasn't taken a single snap in practice, still on the PUP. Don't think he does anything this year. Don't think I've seen this much unwarranted hype for a 7th rounder since by boy Michael Jasper. I think Lynch starts Week 1, regardless of what the media is reporting right now, which isn't much of substance.
  19. This hit it right on the head: Some Bills fans are so quick to proclaim another team's QB sucks with so little experience but need a decade worth of starts under ideal circumstances to evaluate our own starter. Take a deep breath. It's practice. Neither Siemian or Lynch have looked great by all accounts. Nobody is running away with this job yet. It's well known what each guy brings to the table. Siemian is steady and has a year of starting under his belt, yet conservative and physically limited. Lynch is slowed by the playbook & decision making, but has the arm, athleticism and size you want. He has improved since last year, but not by leaps and bounds. The playbook is much better suited for his abilities than Kubiak/Dennison's system. I think folks are analyzing this stuff way too much. Elway and Company want Lynch to have the job, it's pretty obvious. He'll get to start, for better or worse.
  20. Hard not to like this move - solid player and should be great around the young guys!
  21. Jailbreak screens, quick slants, endarounds, etc. etc. Those each have a place, but I'd prefer we just get the ball to Sammy on "standard" routes. Guys like Reggie Bush, Percy Harvin and Cordarelle Patterson that need the ball in a certain way to succeed aren't worth the trouble.
  22. That will be so good! Told the parents a few months ago to start planning a big party. The rates for this months event are insane in Wyoming and Idaho, people are charging $250 to tent camp in backyards in the Teton Valley. Glendoe Reservoir sites were going for $400 p/night a few months back. Man, you better hope it's not cloudy or raining. We'll get 95% here, but everyone I've spoken to who has experienced a total says it's night and day different at 100%.
