  1. And of course Gilmore makes the play to end the game for Jax.
  2. I f ing hate the damn Pats but... man Brady really is clutch. He's just at his best with the game on the line. And New England's coaches are masters of in game adjustment.
  3. Oh man, this isn't good for Jax. Myles Jack is a loss I don't know that they can overcome...
  4. Very true. Definitely rooting against the Pats. I really don't like either team. I just don't want to see the Pats go to 2 in a row. Not looking too good for Jax right now though.
  5. Wow! Huge stop by the Jags! Can't believe I'm rooting for Marrone, but I am! lol
  6. The way I understand it is that was a stand alone bill to fund the miltary during the shut down. I think it actually may be the same one they passed right at the start of the shut down in 2013, that she re-introduced but I'm not sure in that. DACA was not attached to it though from what I can tell. Here is the actual bill - H R 1301 - Mar 8, 2017 · Provides appropriations for FY2017 for Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO)/ the Global War on Terrorism. ... Provides appropriations for Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) for the military departments and other DOD agencies. Provides appropriations for the Defense Working Capital Funds. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/1301
  7. https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4710278/senator-mcconnell-objects-military-pay-protection Here's a video of Mitch McConnell objecting to an amendment proposed by a democratic senator to continue funding the military during this shut down.
  8. He has very little coaching experience. He's only been coaching for 7 years, and only 4 years in the NFL - Ohio State (2011) Linebackers coach Ohio State (2012–2013) Defensive line coach Houston Texans (2014–2016) Linebackers coach Houston Texans (2017) Defensive coordinator Tennessee Titans (2018–present) Head coach He was (obviously) a pretty good NFL player though. But it still seems like a little too soon to already be named a head coach. and I thought Houston's defense regressed this year in his 1st and only season as DC (but to be fair they had some significant injuries). Houston was the #1 ranked defense last year (YPG) and slipped all the way to #20 this year... They were also the #11 defense in points allowed per game in 2016, and this year they ranked dead last (#32) in the NFL in ppg. Like i said, I know injuries played a part, but IMO it's still not a very good look for Vrabel. Who knows though. Maybe he will end up being a very good head coach.
  9. He overplays pucks WAY too much. It it seems like almost every game there is a goal scored against us that is directly due to him overplaying a puck and getting caught out of position. Like goals #3 and 4 (the game winner) against the Rangers. Or the 1st goal today (I think there was another today too). For such a big big goalie he sure sucks at just staying in net and using his big body + positioning to stop pucks. I'd love Ryan Miller here right now to tutor him on positioning. Lehner doesnt appear to be the long term solution in net. Sucks that Buffalo will never come close to recovering the asset given up to acquire him. And when you look at the players that were available at pick #21 of that very deep 2015 draft it makes it even worse.... How great would it be to, instead of having Robin Lehner, have someone like Brock Boeser, who has 22 goals (would lead all Sabres), 40 points and is on pace to break Pavel Bure's rookie scoring record in Vancouver...? Or Jacob Larsson (looks great on Ahaheim's blue line), Sebastian Aho (16 goals and 37 points, which would be 2nd on the Sabres ahead of Evander Kane), or Noah Juulsen (another good young defenseman), Colin White, Travis Konecney, Anthony Beauvillier, Jack Roslovic, Jeremy Roy, Travis Dermott, Brandon Carlo (good young d man for bruins), Oliver Kylington (yet another good young d man) and the list goes on and on... Tim Murray really screwed our rebuild. So many blown and traded away picks... Sorry, just venting. lol
  10. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/1/19/16911148/government-shutdown-unified-control Congratulations repblicans on making history! Also, don't forget Trump's comments on the 2013 government shut down. He said - “Well, if you say who gets fired it always has to be the top. I mean, problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president’s the leader. And he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.” “when they talk about the government shutdown, they’re going to be talking about the president of the United States, who the president was at that time.” They’re not going to be talking about who was the head of the House, the head the Senate, who’s running things in Washington,” Trump said. “So I really think the pressure is on the president,” he added. Funny how much his point of view has changed now, isn't it? and don't forget where he was all for a government shut down in 2013 and congratulated the republicans for it - http://time.com/5109760/government-shutdown-donald-trump-tweets/
  11. For sure. We will all be very interested to see what he turns into. I'm sure we will get people claiming that the Bills were wrong/right for making that trade after a handful of games next year (and by a handful of games I obviously mean the first 15mins of his first start...lol), but Its going to be years before we know anything with any type of certainty. Even if he is great, or terrible, next season it won't prove anything one way or the other. We've seen plenty of QBs struggle as a rookie only to go on to have great careers. And we've seen plenty of rookies who were great their first year end up as nothing more than a 1 (or 2) year flash in the pan. My hope/wish is that by the time we know what Mahomes is (in a few years), that the Bills have their own franchise QB and he's playing so great that nobody cares about Mahomes anymore.
  12. Sounds like hs made things WAY worse for himself in both recent arrests. He should have just pulled over when the cops tried to stop him for speeding, and then acted curtious to the officer and he'd be facing 1/2 the charges (or less) that he is. The article said he was doing 105mph in a 45mph zone. I'm guessing that the turn signal was secondary to that... lol.
  13. I would say a Mahomes would be somewhere around the #4 to #6 QB this year (sorry Jeffismagic...lol). Maybe 3 at very best. I think Rosen, Darnold easily go in front of him. Possibly Allen and/or Mayfield too. He has very similar stats to Mason Rudolph in his draft year, and they both come from a somewhat similar air raid type offense. Mahomes has the superior arm though. So I'd say he would possibly right around the same area as Rudolph goes, Mahomes most likely going first. As far as the trade - I think it has has been very good so far. Tre White looks like a future star and possible top 3 CB in the NFL. We also have Zay Jones, who they drafted by trading up with the 3rd round pick acquired in the Chiefs trade. He struggled hismrookie season but I still think he ends up being a good WR for us. But we will see... Plus, we don't even have the #22 pick to grade yet. If they hit on that, or trade back and turn it into a couple players (that they hit on) or use it to trade up and grab a QB... who knows. We will have to wait and see. But yeah I'd say the trade looks good so far. Let's see what Mahomes turns into, too. And you could kind of say that Dion Dawkins is somewhat part of that trade because they used the 5th round pick they got back when they traded the KC 3rd to help move up for Jones. He looks like he could be our future franchise left tackle for years to come. I mean, you could even say that If Dawkins allows them to trade Corey Glenn for a haul, that trade back factored into it, even if just slightly... If you think about it, depending on what they do with that #22 pick this year, that 1 single trade could go quite a long way towards helping rebuild this franchise. If they trade back again this year and turn it into 2 (or even 3) more players that they hit on, we'd have gotten 4-6(+) possible impact players from that trade (or at least in part from that trade). Its really still till too early to judge though. We have to see how the trade impacts each franchise in the years to come.
  14. Oops. You're right. Thanks for pointing that out. That actually makes me feel quite quite a bit better. lol I was thinking they won back to back SB's and this year would be their 3rd appearance in a row (if they make it), but I forgot that Denver won 2 years ago. It really speaks to what an accomplishment what the Bills did was. Even with how dominant the Patriots have been they haven't been able to replicate 4 straight appearances (and the Bills didn't have the cake walk through the AFCE the Pats have faced for a decade). Although I would take all their SB wins over the Bills 4 straight losses... lol
  15. Nope. If they make it this year it would be 3 straight, which is why I'm rooting even harder than normal against them. Im not sure who is going to stop them, though. Someone said of the 4 teams left that it was David vs David vs David vs Goliath and I thought that was pretty accurate. lol
  16. Thanks! Good find. Thanks for sharing. I found that interesting.
  17. I have to think that Tom Coughlin had a lot to do with this. His own change in coaching style from a very hard nosed, disciplinarian who was hard to p,aynfor and rubbed players the wrong way to more of a players coach is well publicized. He almost lost his job over it, until John Mara told him he had to change or he'd be let go. He said players have changed. So you you must change too. Coughlin agreed. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/tom-coughlin-changed-ways-won-giants/story?id=36089018 https://www.stand-deliver.com/columns/team-building-mentoring-and-coaching/806-tom-coughlin-s-leadership-style-metamorphosis.html
  18. I expect McCoy to have a huge year next season and earn every penny of that cap hit. Brian Daboll has consistently improved the running game wherever he's been, and in many cases he drastically improved it. Yards per attempt has historically shot up under him, as has total rushing yards, rushing TDs (etc). Plus, we know the Bills O line is good with a power run scheme and that's what Daboll primarily runs.
  19. Do you think Todd Haley has been a good offensive coordinator for Pittsburgh? Did you want Rob Chudzinski as OC here (as many Bills fans seem to)? Do you think he's a good OC? Because Haley was running Kansas City's offense from 2009-2011 before Daboll took it over in 2012. and Chudzinski was the OC in Cleveland before Daboll took over. Go look at their numbers with Kansas City/Cleveland... they were worse than Daboll's numbers were. Sometimes it's just the personnel you have. In 2011 with Haley, on offense Kansas City was 31st in points, 27th in total yards, 15th in rushing yards, 30th in rushing TDs, 28th in rushing yards per attempt. By most accounts, Haley left a total mess in KC when he was fired, especially on offense. In 2012 under Daboll - -they improved in total yards from 27th to 24th. -Improved from 15th to 5th in rushing yards -From 30th to 25th in rushing TDs -from 27th to 6th in yards per attempt. The passing stats were very similar between Haley & Daboll's offense but IMO that has to be attributed to QB. When he took over Miami's offense in 2011 - -He improved them from 30th in total points scored to 20th. -From 27th to 18th in passing TDs -from 21st to 18th in passing N y/a -from 21st to 11th in rushing yards -29th to 19th in rushing TDs -30th to 15th in rushing yards per attempt He took over as OC in Cleveland in 2009 for Rob Chudzinski. Chud didn't do any better than Daboll in Cleveland and most would have been thrilled with him as OC. In fact, Chud almost did worse in Cleveland. At one point in 2008 (with Chud as OC) they went 24 consecutive quarters without scoring a single touchdown! Aftr Daboll took over for Chud - -30th to 29th in points scored -26th to 8th in rushing yards -31st to 20th in rushing TDs -26th to 15th in yards per attempt -31st to 28th in red zone efficiency again, the passing stats were almost identical between Chud's offense and Daboll's, and again I'd attribute that to the QB. Anyway... my only point is that you have to look at things in context. You can't just look at his offensive rankings and say "he sucks". You have to look at the entire picture including what type of situation he was left, the offense he took over, their previous rankings and what the improvements were (if any) over the previous year(s) , the personnel he had, etc etc.
  20. Wonder what the story behind this firing is. Was it just the on field performance or was there more to it? (like the development of their young QBs? McCown had a career year under him though, so...)
  21. I know some Bills fans think going from Tyrod to Smith is a lateral move but I disagree. I think Smith is quite a bit better than Tyrod and would absolutely be an upgrade. He's a very smart QB. Know his defensive coverages, can read the (full) field well, find his open receivers, check into the right plays. He's accurate, similar to Tyrod in not turning the ball over. I think hed he'd be a great veteran QB to have around to help develop a rookie, and he's more than good enough to keep that rookie off the field for a couple/few years. Id give up similar compensation to what they gave up for Benjamin - 3rd and 5th/6th. Not sure if that'll be enough though with all the QB desperate teams. Id probably even consider a 2nd if that was the Bills only option for an upgrade at the QB position. Like If it came down to either Tyrod next year or Smith for a 2nd, I'd probably pull the trigger on Smith.
  22. Yes, absolutely I would. In a heart beat. But, it wouldn't matter. The 49ers would just match the offer instead of accepting the two 1st round picks. Garoppolo evelated the play of everyone - took a 1-10 team on a 5 game winning streak to finish 6-10. They have a ridiculous amount of cap space (something like $110 million), too.
  23. I'd be fine with Bradford as a veteran bridge QB. But the thing is, it seems like he is definitrly at a pretty high risk of getting hurt and missing time. Both his knees are terrible from what I've read. They said the MRI's of his knees are scary bad (I'm not sure if this is actually true or not, it's just what I've read). And if you draft a rookie that you truly don't want to play until he is ready, then Bradford may not be a good choice. He missed 8 games in 2013, missed the entire 2014 season. Then played 14 and 15 game in 2015 and 2016. Then only played 2 games in 2017 due to injury. In his 2 (almost) full seasons played recently, he was average at best in 2015 (19 TD's to 14 INT) and pretty damn good in 2016. So it's been a pretty mixed mixed bag with Bradford. He's been up and down in his play and missed significant time to injury. I would take a healthy bradford over Tyrod though, if those were my 2 choices. If it were Cousins vs Bradford, I'd take Cousins. If it were signing Cousins to a huge payday vs signing Bradford to a cheaper, shorter term deal and drafting one of the top 3 (ish) college QBs in the 1st... Then I may lean toward Bradford and a rookie. But I'd be ok with either.
