  1. Geez Fergy... this must be your least subtle attempt at a sarcasm/joke/troll thread yet (that I've seen anyway). I think you're getting a little lazy dude. Yet there are still people that are somehow taking this thread seriously. So, props man.... credit where credit is due! lol Ill admit, I've fell for one or two of your threads in the past. But at least it was much more subtle than this one is, and I was much newer at the time. lol
  2. Yes I think you are most likely correct. Him and McDermott seem very close. They were together in Philly a long time. They were both brought in to the Eagles at the same time (1999) and worked together until McD left in 2010/11. I'm sure you watched this locker room playoff celebration video. Culley is the first guy to congratulate (and hug) McDermott - (about 19 seconds in). I actually hope that they do keep him on staff. He seems to be well respected around the NFL and I've heard he brings a great energy to the team. I'd just prefer they bring in someone who really has experience developing a young QB (assuming they draft one...). I would love an offensive innovator who design an offense tailored to this team (guys who force their system aggravate me...) as well as help the Bills identify their QB of the future and then develop him. This will be a very important hire. Fingers crossed!
  3. Lol It's that Phil Mcgeoghan dude. Zay Jones WR coach at east Carolina.
  4. Yeah I'd move Culley to wide receivers coach, the job he held in Kansas City. Hes been a receivers coach since 1991. Id be perfectly happy with him in that role.
  5. What did Housley say? I missed it.
  6. Raymondo's pizzeria on East Delavan in Buffalo/Cheektowaga is very good. You have to ask specifically for the "sweet sauce" on your pizza though. Their regular pizza is good, but their pizza with sweet sauce is amazing. The sauce is unreal. They have probably the best honey mustard wings I've had, too. All of their wings are good. Love their BBQ, used to love the hot but my stomach doesn't allow that anymore... Carbone's has great honey mustard wings as well. Good pizza too. Chick n' pizza works also has some good pizza from what I remember. Haven't had them in a while but the last time I did the pizza was delicious.
  7. I don't know man. 2017 went completely away from what Whaley normally did in the draft. He almost always had the players he drafted (esp. high) in for pre draft visits. None of the players we drafted this year were in for a visit (except Peterman IIRC). In fact, The Bills have had their 1st round draft pick in for a visit from the time he first got here - every year from 2010 to 2016. The only year he didn't... 2017. Drafts as assistant GM (pre draft visits)- -CJ Spiller -Marcell Dareus -Stephon Gilmore -Tank Carder -EJ Manuel -Jonathan Meeks (this 2013 draft was probably him running the show but I'll list it under asst. GM because we don't know if he ran the show or not). Drafts as GM (pre draft visits)- -Sammy Watkins -Cyrus Kouandjio -Preston Brown -Ross Cockrell (thats the top 4 picks from the 2014 draft, all brought in for a pre draft visit) -John Miller -Karlos Williams -Cardale Jones -Kolby Listenbee -Shaw Lawson -Reggie Ragland -Adolphus Washington (I'm not sure if this is a complete list. It's just what I found with a quick search) You know now who did have many of our draft picks in for a visit? Carolina Panthers. -Tre White -Zay Jones -Dion Dawkins -Tanner Vallejo Also, he never drafted players from small schools (like Zay Jones or even Dawkins (Temple)), especially in the first few rounds. Whaley stuck to certain colleges and especially certain conferences. In his time as GM from 2014 to 2015, 9 of his 13 draft picks came form the ACC. Shaq Lawson (in 2016) made that 10. If you go back to 2013, only 3 of his 28 draft picks came form outside the power 5 conference - Duke Williams (4th), Randell Johnson (7th round), Dezmin Lewis (7th). Never a top 3 round pick from outside the power 5, again, until 2017 (Jones, Dawkins). This was comp, etely dfferent than any draft from the time Shakey was hired by Buffalo. I am sure McDermott used some information form him but when looking at everything it's hard to believe that Whaley played much of a role in this draft. Nobody knows for sure, but that's the impression I get when I add up all the pieces.
  8. Lesean McCoy said after the game that Dennison called a run pass option at the goal line. So it was up to Tyrod whether to run or pass. I mean, Dennison could have called a straight run play. But, IMO, it's a smart call to give your QB the ability to read the defense and choose a run or pass depending on the defensive coverage pre/post snap (especially in a goal line situation where the field is so short).
  9. Yeah I think its just too soon IMO. I mean, he was still an offensive quality control coach in 2011/2012, which is pretty much an entry level position (and doesn't really require doing any actual coaching). Then he was a quarterbacks coach from 2013-2015, and finally a co-offensive coordinator in 2016, and he never even called any plays until this season. I think he has called plays for maybe 8-10 games at most in his career so far. And now he's a head coach... Just seems like too much too soon to me. But Andy Reid had high praise for him so we will see I guess. I think he definitely has the potential to be a good head coach. I just wonder if he's had enough experience to be running a team so soon into his coaching career (especially with so little experience in coaching). I've been wrong before, though.
  10. Yeah I remember that. I think there's also allegations of abuse toward women, too. He was never charged in either case so who knows. But that's besides the point. Like you said, his units have sucked for years which is the reason I have no interest in him.
  11. Oops. My bad. Don't know why I thought he he was on the college side too.
  12. Would love Bevell as OC. I know Tom Cable is a well known name and has been in head coaching rumors, but he's had an awful o line for years now (to be fair he hasn't had much talent, but still...). Not sure i'd have any interest in him as out o Lin coach.
  13. Comsidering that Mahomes was drafted on April 27th, 2017 and Brandon Beane wasn't hired by the Bills until May 9th, 2017, I'd say no. It wasn't his first mistake because he wasn't even our GM yet.
  14. Bummer. Figured Gaine was gone as soon as Green Bay hired Brian Guntekunst. He was supposedly the guy the Texans wanted, with Gaine being choice #2. Really sucks Gaine didn't even have one draft here. But I'd assume that he's done a lot of work on this draft class, so at least we have all the player evaluations he's done so far. The Texans could really screw us in this draft, though. They draft in front of us in every round.
  15. Yeah I am sure there was no way Belichick was trading Garoppolo pretty much anywhere in the AFC. Im just glad they traded him. I don't think I could take a Brady clone torturing us for the next 10+ years.
  16. I feel just the opposite. If Dennison stays, then they should move on from Tyrod. He just doesn't fit his offense. There seemed to be receivers running open quite often that Tyrod didn't see. You can't blame that on Dennison. But if they bring in another OC who will utilize Tyrod more like Roman/Lynn did and go back to the power run game, then it makes more sense to keep TT (assuming they can't find any potential upgrade). I actually think Dennison's offense could be much better with a guy like Alex Smith running it though.
  17. "Ben will actually see the blitzes coming and actually try to complete some passes down the field. He's not just going to hold onto the ball and try to run away from them all" Ouch. lol
  18. http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/index.ssf/2018/01/how_cleveland_browns_were_froz.html#incart_river_index If true, I am glad that the Pats didn't end up with the #4 overall pick in the draft. It it also shows just how much Belichick wanted to make sure Garoppolo went somewhere where he would have success (again, if true). Theres just too much stuff that doesn't add up (about Belichick/Brady/Kraft claiming to be on the same page) for this story to be fake. I really do think Belichick wanted to keep Garoppolo over Brady. Or at the very least wanted to keep Garoppolo AND Brady (even if it meant tagging JG).
  19. Id sure like to hear that argument... what players are even left from the Marrone era? There's hardly any players left from the Rex era, let alone Marrone's time here. This team and the success it had with this rag tag group was all McDermott. One thing I'll give Marrone some credit for - he knows how to hire defensive coordinators. Once again the offense, his supposed specialty, SUCKS arse in Jax. The defense carried that team all season. He's pretty much hands off with the defense, same as he was here. His offense and O line was terrible while here was here (again, his 2 supposed specialties) and the defense carried the team. Once again his offense is terrible in Jax and the defense is carrying the team. I give Coughlin just as much credit as Marrone. That Jax team looked just like the hard nosed ground and pound teams that Coughlin had in NY. I really dont don't get how you can say Marrone out coached McDermott anyway. Did you not see the difference in talent level between the 2 teams? That Jax team is filled to the brim with very high 1st draft picks. They've been collecting talent in the top rounds of the draft for the past, what, 5+ years? Their talent level compared to Buffalo was night and day. They should have easily handled us, yet we were in it right to the end and only allowed 1 TD. With a bit better QB play we win that game easily. Considering the disparity in talent level, Id say McDermott did a brilliant job coaching that game and this entire season. We had no business winning many of the games we won. It's not just in game coaching that counts, it's how well a coach prepares his team during the week. McDermott may have made a few rookie game management errors but he had his team very well prepared almost every week.
  20. I think it really all depends on what the Bills do this offseason. As they stand now, I think it'd be tough to get back to the playoffs next year. If theyre able to ulgrade the D line and LB corps, the defense could be even better. The biggest thing will will most likely be what they do on offense, especially at the QB position. Whether they go with a veteran or rookie, and the quality of that veteran or rookie. If they land land a good veteran QB like Smith or a Cousins or Brees (yeah I know, Brees won't happen...) I like our chances at the playoffs, especially if the Bills can hit on another draft class like this years. If they go with a rookie, it could go either way. It all depends on if he has a stellar rookie season or an up and down one (which would probably be the most likely scenario if they go that route). So, we could either be due for a nice step forward or a small step back, depending on what happens at the most important position on the team. Both scenarios are (probably) better than just staying status quo though... I'm ready for Buffalo to find their QB.
  21. Actually, I think it was the D line coach John Blake who may have played the biggest role in landing Washington. Obviously Whaley and Rex played a role in it and had to ok it + pull the trigger, but Whaley said after they took him that John Blake thought Washington was the best pure pass rusher in the draft and that he really pushed for the Bills to draft him. Whaley said he (Blake) was thrilled when the Bills took him. I think its it's too early to give up on Washington though. They definitely need to upgrade the starting DT position but there's really no reason not to keep him around as a rotation guy and try to develop him (unless some team wants to give up a decent draft pick for him...).
  22. Surprising that we haven't heard of him interviewing until now. Wonder if he chose to take a break from the game, or if there honestly just wasn't interest until now. I find it a little hard to believe that nobody had any interest in him, looking around at some of the DC's in the NFL the past 2 seasons... i always thought he was he was a good D.C. Rex's defense sure went downhill once he left. Also thought he did a good job as HC of the Browns. They probably should have just kept him. They may have been better off right now if they had. I have to think he'd have won more than 1 game in 2 years.
  23. Seems kind of soon for Nagy to get a HCing job to me. He barely has 1/2 a season of play calling experience. How about that Andy Reid coaching Tree though, eh? Matt Nagy John Harbaugh Doug Pederson Sean McDermott Ron Rivera Steve Spagnuolo (current interim HC) all current NFL HC's. As well as Leslie Frazier, Pat Shurmur, Brad Childress who were HC's at one time. You could even even say that Todd Bowles is (somewhat) from Reid's coaching tree as I'm pretty sure Reid gave Bowles his first shot to be a defensive coordinator in the NFL.
  24. It sounds like Brian Gutekunst was actually the favorite for the Texans GM job until he took the GM job with the Packers
