Ian Rapoport - Bills not going after 2nd pick
BillsFan4 replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this leak actually came from the Bills organization, maybe it is Beane trying to put pressure on Gettleman to take his offer for 2. Or or maybe it's true. Or or maybe it's just a BS rumor... Cant wait for Thursday. I've never has draft fatigue like like I do this year. -
Ian Rapoport - Bills not going after 2nd pick

If the Browns go With Allen #1, I have to believe the Jets take Darnold at 3 (if the Giants don't take him). -
Tyrod Taylor turning heads in Cleveland.
BillsFan4 replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am sure Cleveland fans will be impressed by Tyrod's drive and work ethic. I know I was very impressed by it when Tyrod first got here. I wish him well in Cleveland. I think he could do well there, and hope he does. He definitely has weapons on offense. I feel pretty safe saying that Cleveland will definitely win more than 1 game this year! lol -
Totally agree. But, a long 9 days, actually. The 1st round of the draft on the 26th, and then the NHL draft lottery on the evening of the 28th... Can you even imagine if the Bills get one of the top QBs AND the Sabres win the draft lottery (Dahlin sweepstakes)?! I would be beyond happy. I can't even put it into words... lol.

I hear ya man! One week to go... I'm trying to hang in there. lol As excited as I am about draft day, I know I am going to be a total nervous wreck, especially as the teams start going on the clock. You think? I would be thrilled if it only cost two 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd to get to #2 overall. We'd still have two 1sts this year, two 2nds, a 3rds, 4th, 5th, 6th

I see Mayfield as having just as many, or more, questions as Rosen. He also had at least 3 concussions that I am aware of (he had 2 in 3 weeks in college, and even after that said he would not change his play style to better protect against injury). I just feel like with Rosen, you can maybe at least help limit the injury risks. You build a good o line around him and you can limit the risks more so than with Mayfield, who's game will always include a lot of play outside the pocket. I also think Rosen has the frame to be able to bulk up once he gets proper training and diet from NFL staffs. Plus it's worth mentioning that the NFL does a very good job protecting their QBs with the rules, more so than in college. They both have their personality concerns. But Mayfield has legitimate off field concerns too, having been arrested & trying to run away from the police. Where as Rosen doesn't have anything like that in his history. Hes never bene in any legal trouble. And Allen may not have the same personality or off field concerns, but his play on the field has a lot more red flags IMO. The the way I see it, every one of these top QBs has their legitimate question marks. I guess we just have to trust that Beane fully vetted whoever he ends up drafting. Great! If that allows him to drop to the Bills, that would be amazing. I could care care less about the politics of my QB, or any player for that matter. It doesn't factor into my evaluation at all. I think it's incredibly dumb to pass on such a gifted QB prospect over something like this. I just don't see why it should matter. I just hope the Bills feel the same way... lol.

Yay! We're not the worst! (According to Agents)

My best guess would be having studied different player comparables and data points/statistics, contract details, injury history, scheme fits, cap implications, possible on and off field issues... stuff like that. Here's an interesting read on some of the stuff that goes into contract negotiations (it's an inside look at Sherman's deal with the 49ers) - https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/03/12/richard-sherman-san-francisco-49ers-john-lynch-mmqb-peter-king -
Bills and cards trying to get to 6
BillsFan4 replied to *******'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know how many more "moving up" rumors I can take at this point. One week to go. One week to go. One week to go... -
Great stuff bandit. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Gunner's 2018 Draft QB evaluations
BillsFan4 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, how did I not see this thread until now? Amazing work Gunner. I loved reading your analysis. Better than most of the draft analyst's write ups that I've seen. You cemented my stance of wanting either Rosen or Darnold. I wanted Rosen pretty bad already. Your analysis helps confirm what my amateur eyes have seen, and now I want him even more. If Beane and McDermott vet him and are comfortable with him, I hope they do whatever they can to go up and get him! Don't mess around hoping he drops. Trade to 2/4/5/6/7 and grab him! It would be a dream come true to have a QB with his potential in a Bills uniform. I would be just as happy with Darnold though. I haven't focused on him quite as much because I never really felt like we had a shot at him, with him going #1 to Cleveland seeming to be a wide spread belief. But as the draft process has went on, I am less sure Cleveland take some him #1 so I've started to look at him a bit more. Im scared to get my hopes up on either one though, since I have no clue who the Bills like or what they will do (or be able to do) on draft day. Probably a bit too late on that... Oh, and im even more scared of Allen than I already was, so thanks for making me worry even more about all those damn mock drafts where we pick him (and even trade up to do it). lol -
Brady has not committed to playing in 2018
BillsFan4 replied to BillsFan8083's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yeah, that's right. They have that 23 pick, I forgot. Thanks. -
He could have had no interest being here. But even if so, it may have been mutual. My guess is that Buffalo just doesn't want a mobile QB like that. IMO everything they've done so far suggests they want more of a pocket passer. The QBs they've brought in - Peterman and Maccarron are both pocket passers. They were linked to Sam Bradford in free agency. They brought in Daboll who will run the EP offense and has favored pocket passers in his NFL career. They got rid of Tyrod even after making the playoffs with him. Almost brought in Brian Hoyer last year. We heard rumors of McD liking Trubisky last draft (and rumors of that being the only QB they were interested in drafting, and they did pass on both Mahomes and Watson who were sitting there for the taking). But I guess we will see next Thursday! I think you are right about Mayfield btw.

Bills had private workout with QB Luke Falk
BillsFan4 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Working out Falk is just more confirmation IMO that they want a true pocket passer QB, not a mobile type. -
Brady has not committed to playing in 2018
BillsFan4 replied to BillsFan8083's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what I think will happen. I know I've said this already, but IMO the Patriots moving up to the top of the draft for a QB makes no sense. Contract wise, Top 5 picks are a lot more expensive than later round picks. Why would the Pats give up all those draft picks (and we all know Belichick Loves his draft picks) to move way up to the top of the draft and get a QB just to have him sit behind Brady for the next how-many-ever years, instead of just drafting a guy with one of their multiple 2nds? IMO, a major trade up is the type of move you make when you need a starter immediately. They have the luxury of drafting a 2nd tier prospect, sitting him for a while and letting him learn from one of the best to ever play the position. They don't need a day 1 starter. I could see a slight trade up in front of Pittsburgh for Rudolph. But I don't see any way they even try to trade into the top 5. Plus, If Brady was (supposedly) bothered by Garoppolo, how would he feel about the Pats giving up a boat load of picks they could have used to immediately better the team in his final year, to get a high end QB prospect who won't start any time soon anyway? We've seen much lesser QBs get upset about trade up's (like Bradford, Smith etc). I imagine Brady would be pretty pissed off. -
Bills in team spotlight on Path to the Draft
BillsFan4 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are missing a team. The Jets pick at 3. They are supposedly very high on Mayfield. We know for sure they are taking a QB at 3, we just don't know which. But my guess is Mayfield. So If arizona trades to 1 for Darnold, the Giants take Rosen at 2, Jets take Mayfield at 3, Browns take Allen at 4... we are in trouble. I dont see Arizona being able to outbid the Bills though. They don't have nearly as many picks as the Bills do. It's always a possibility though! -
A little surprising to me that some of these people who are getting upset over the things Rosen says, and calling him a cocky jerk, are not saying some of the same things about Mayfield. But anyway.... This guy really seems to take any perceived slight against him extremely personally. Hes going to get a TON more of those negative comments playing QB in the NFL than he did in college. I think it'll either drive him to be great or it will drive him nuts and get under his skin so much that it has a negative effect on him/his career. Not sure which.

Brady has not committed to playing in 2018
BillsFan4 replied to BillsFan8083's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would be absolutely shocked if Brady retired this season. And I may be in the minority here, but after watching him kick the Bills arse for the last 15 years, id actually rather not watch him walk away from the game still on top like he is now. It would be a heck of if a lot more satisfying to see him finally fall off that cliff and/or see the Bills start winning some games against the Pats while Brady is still their QB. Im not saying I'd be sad if he retired... not by any means. But it'd be more fun watching that dynasty crumble with Brady still on the field. His temper tantrums would be legendary I bet! lol -
The Myth of Blue Collar Buffalo and the Josh Allen "Fit"
BillsFan4 replied to WickedGame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what I was thinking. Buffalo's economy is doing much better than it has in quite a long time (since the mid 90's would be my guess). It has been continually growing in recent years. Buffalo is on the rebound! -
The Myth of Blue Collar Buffalo and the Josh Allen "Fit"
BillsFan4 replied to WickedGame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good post Wicked. Honestly, I could are less about blue collar or white collar or any of that crap. Just give me the best QB on the field, who's going to give the Bills the best chance to win every Sunday. Thats the thing - if a QB wins a lot, nobody is going to care about much else. Everyone loves a winner. -
I don't really put any weight into anyone's mock drafts, as far as what players they have going to what teams. This study highlights why. The most accurate guys last year got 9 out of 32 right, and there were only 4 guys (out of roughly 100) that were even that accurate. Most fell somewhere in the range of hitting on 2 to 6 players to the right team. Mock drafts are fun and all (well, depending on who thy have mocked to th Bills! lol). I just don't put any real faith in what teams they have players going to.

Did Richie Show up today?
BillsFan4 replied to BuffaloBillsMagic1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you know if he showed up today? -
That's interesting. I hadn't really heard that about Rosen. I tend to disagree, but I am not a professional scout. I just think he has a lot of room still to grow as a passer. I don't see why he can't continue to get better, but that's just me. I doubt that will come into play. At least I sure hope it doesn't. Political views would be a horrible reason to pass on any player. I'd be a bit scared for the future of the Bills if that were the case. Just looking at his time as owner though - Look what he let Rex Ryan do. That was a pretty controversial thing, giving that opening speech... that could have easily divided the fan base and Pegula never seemed bothered by it. He also fully supported his players when they chose to kneel and backed them publically, another controversial move that actually cost him some sponsors IIRC (I know that Veins, Veins, Veins place chose not to advertise with the Sabres for the season and spoke out against it. I'm not sure if there were any others).
