  1. Only came close to knocking out my friend one time long ago. Like 1993 or 94 maybe eve 95? Fuzzy memories back then. Bills at Steelers, Monday night maybe. The game Don Beebe got knocked out cold by the Steelers safety who I think was Woodson, on a long pass attempt on the right sideline. Anyway, I was watching it at my friends house on his nice t.v. when he just became an a-hole and turned off the game just to be a D, or was my view at that moment. It was misdirected hostility though. I was just mad about the game and the Bills' poor performance. They were on the downward trajectory and it was getting to me. My friend was really into some kind of martial arts back then but I knew I could drop him no problem (I have a mean punch and he knew it). But somehow my inner voice was like "dude, you're being the D, not him. Just leave." And I walked away. So glad I did because I was being a jerk just because our Bills were not having a good night. Some on this board know I can be a real D at times. But I do always recognize it later and feel bad. I love my Bills brothers and sisters. I went to just one Bills game in Buffalo back in 2003 and was delighted by how polite and friendly everyone was. I remember it was the Rams visiting and a dude in his early 20's or so near us yelled an expletive at Adam Archuleta, you know the three letter bad word that alleges something about someone's sexuality. And the girl next to him was like: "Shut up, dude. That's not right." It was a group of like 10 of them and they all seemed to be in agreement with her which said a lot to me about Bills fans. I know there's some bad ones who aren't so great when they get hammered but it's worth noting there's good folks out there like that. I never thought I'd hear someone put someone else in their own group in their place like that at a sporting event. I was impressed anyway. That entire trip in general, everyone was really great and welcoming. So genuine too. A lot like here in East TN where I live now. But Western NY is more aligned with my politics than here in the South, if you catch my drift.
  2. I only watched the first 1/3 of this and it was BRUTAL!!!!! Stephen A. loves to hate the Cowboys. It's a little much but so is Stephen A. And you know what? I hate the Cowboys just as much. Michael Irvin must have been absolutely stewing over there across from him.
  3. Just heard Kyle's take on the Cowboys from his One Bills Live appearance today. If you haven't heard it already, it's fantastic and so on-point. Basically points out that since the 90's they've never even been to a conference title game which I hadn't realized. And all the shine and fluff around them is all crap, to paraphrase. Love Kyle Brandt. For someone who makes a living having to talk nice about all 32 teams to some degree or another, he really seems to be a Bills fan. He's pretty passionate about our team. Was even at the game Saturday wearing a Tasker jersey but had "MIGHT BE CHILLY" on the back. Just awesome.
  4. Just watched it. Man that was a HIT! Completely stopped George's momentum. Another textbook shoulder hit too. Love the replay on that one. I noticed the announcer (Theisman?) said George had a slight concussion before (the game?) and after that hit he'd have another one. Seems like today he wouldn't even have been in that game. He'd be in the protocol. It was a different time I guess. I cannot watch the "Home Run Throw-Forward" play again. Not one more time. Heck, I watched it a few dozen times that day like most of us. Never again.
  5. I think I might have heard that once and totally forgot about it! A classic! The younger crowd might not get that as much. 😂 I'm so glad I started this thread now. I don't even remember than particular play but I'll have to go find it now. I do, of course, remember that bleeping game though. The beginning of dark days. When Madden says you could hear that hit up there where they were, you know it was bad. RIP John Madden btw. He was Mr. Football for so much of my life.
  6. Looks like he went back to Dallas that year, 96 but not sure what happened. Maybe free agent? Seems he retired after 97 I guess.
  7. We were heading into a period of stagnation for the Bills teams in the late 90's when they actually had excellent defenses but not so good offenses. I think Todd Collins took over in 1997 after Jimbo retired and, well I think we all know how that went. So this is a rather exciting memory I have of that era. Granted, I was sowing a lot of my wild oats during the 90's so my memory in general is a bit fuzzy from back then. Walker had so much momentum too. And it was a perfectly legal hit. Schulz lead with his shoulder all the way. A thing of beauty. KAPOW!!!!
  8. Yes 1 hour 53 minute mark, you are correct. Sorry for the confusion.
  9. I haven't watched it yet, but now with all your input here, I don't have to be in such a hurry. Is it just on HBO? Or HBO+ or HBO - or whatever? We had that for like a minute when we upgraded our Iphones but the wife cancelled it when I was just starting to check it out. So I do appreciate your postings, folks. I'll have to check it out , at my leisure now. I'm a HUGE fan of the original series. Heck just the intro was on another level than anything else before. In fact, my never-ending and overzealous use of the F-word can be blamed in huge part on the Sopranos. Not necessarily a bad thing, though, esp for the son of a sailor and ex-military guy myself. It's in my blood. On a side note, I was really getting into the Chernobyl mini-series. I've only seen the first full episode but it's intense. I was 12 at the time it happend and the significance of that event is really hitting home now. But I digress.
  10. I'll preface this by saying I'm not getting political here in any way whatsoever, but every time I see something about Herschel Walker running for Senate in Georgia, I immediately get a huge grin on my face as I'm taken back in my mind's Way Back Machine to Sept 22, 1996 and a home game between the visiting Cowgirls and our Bills. It was just a regular season game, but after those two SB losses in a row to them, any kind of revenge on them would be enjoyable at some level. So at about the 1 hour 53 minute mark on the YouTube video (tried to link but hopefully it works directly on YouTube), you'll see a massive, absolutely crushing hit on Hershel Walker by one of my old favorite safeties, Kurt Schulz. Walker leaked out of the backfield when Aikman lofted a nice pass to him right about the 2 yard line or so. Schulz saw it coming and laid into Walker something fierce. Give Walker credit though he held onto the ball and I remember being absolutely amazed at the time that he was able to do so. I always liked Schulz back there. He wasn't the fastest but he could hit like a freight train and that kind of physicality from the DB's is something I felt wasn't there during the SB years. I certainly don't recall Mark Kelso ever hitting anyone like that. I could be wrong though. But I'll never get tired of watching this hit. Ahh memories. Enjoy: hopefully direct link the the hit (thanks Pete!) :
  11. Thank you for letting us know about this. Love hearing about guys who are actually good sports and not just divas. Very cool.
  12. Whatever, Jack. I reject your contention that I have a "loser mentality." But you go ahead and keep stressing out all you want then. That's a crappy mentality.
  13. It really pains me to see all these pussies on this board after losses. You have no idea what it's been like since 1999. Exactly why I need to stop even reading your weak crap.
  14. Complain all you want about officiating, coaching, whatever. It doesn't change anything. We finally have good coaching and good FO management. Take a step back and look at the big picture. F'ing Whaley isn't in charge anymore and we should appreciate the F out of that. Everyone needs to take a PILL and relax. Geez! Have you completely forgotten the last almost 20 years of ineptitude? We have it so good right now. Shut the F up and enjoy the ride you crybabies!
  15. F all the negativity! They fought their A's off and can def build off of this loss. This is about growth. They will certainly grow a lot from this experience. Naysayers complain all you want. I am proud of this team and I look forward to many coming years of exciting football.
  16. You need to chill now bro before you piss me off. Save your internet superiority attitude for someone else. I said what I said because I know I’m right from watching all the games with my own eyes and somehow I’m not alone in this opinion. Gee imagine that. I don’t have time to research PFF or whatever the fk else you spend your time on trying to disprove me. Save your “show your work” crap for somebody else. Man I hate know-it-alls like you.
  17. That’s really splitting hairs I think. So he has recovered some of his drops so they aren’t listed as turnovers. You just cannot have a returner with crappy hands. Clearly he does.
  18. I think this is probably spot on, SCBills. Great analyses of those other teams. The Bills D shouldn’t collapse but they will have to make some serious adjustments to make up for the loss of a true lock-down corner. Things just got a lot tougher.
  19. This. Tre is not the fastest DB out there and he makes up greatly for it with his incredible technique. I think they can do a lot more man coverage because of him. Dane is a decent to good DB but don’t anyone kid themselves if you think he’s going to be halfway near what Tre brings to the table.
  20. But he is a turnover machine. Haven’t you been paying attention? He fumbles or muffs a punt/kick on a fairly regular basis. He has terrible hands. It would absolutely not be an overreaction to send him packing. He’s flashed impressive stuff from time to time but he’s too much of a liability. A big reason no other team signed him last offseason. They brought him back cheap.
  21. I think that's a slight exaggeration. But not surprising really. There's no lack of that on this board. If you pay attention, you will see 57 putting a lot of heat on QB's. He's coming off the ball hot and making some OT's work their butts off. I've seen more than a few holds that weren't called (of course) where he basically gets tackled to the ground while he's bearing down. Addison is fairly consistent. And 99 has some good mojo this season as well. Harry gets some good penetration on lots of downs causing some serious pocket collapsing. Yes, the sack numbers aren't there, but they're not always a reflection of true pressure getting applied.
  22. When he fumbled that last kick return after falling down when nobody touched him, I said to myself that was likely his last game as a Bill. McD don't play around with fumbles and McKenzie can't seem to stop.
  23. I have not listened to Fina's stuff yet, but I will when I get around to it. I'm in no hurry because Fina sucked when he played for the Bills and I cannot for the life of me figure out why people seem to remember differently. I watched him play in many games. He sucked. I can't imagine I can take much seriously from a guy who was a miserable disappointment from the day he was drafted. Sorry to be so to the point, but if anyone says John Fina was a good lineman when he played, you were not watching him play.
  24. There is certainly a connection in many cases, unfortunately. And the conversations need to happen about mental illness, there is no doubt about that. But I think that if we spent a lot more time working on poverty and income inequality, as well as education in general, we would accomplish so much more in terms of violence in-general, in whatever form it takes. Maybe we should start working on a society that lifts all people up instead of a cut-throat, winner-takes-all system where it's perfectly acceptable to step on someone else, sometimes many, in your pursuit up the ladder of success. Poverty is the real root of most of society's ills and it's a real shame we aren't all doing more to address it when we have so many resources available like never before.
