Cheers to that! (Although Draft Day Afternoon now)
I agree tough to tell, but if we stay at 30 I think it'll be Vera-Tucker, Barmore, or one of the CBs.
Many will have their pro-or-anti-Beane-pick role picked out well before draft time...
My first, last, and only simulation this year (thedraftnetwork):
30) A. Vera-Tucker [OL - USC]
61) J. Ossai [DE - Texas]
93) T. Tremble [TE - Notre Dame]
161) K. Vincent, Jr. [CB - LSU]
174) J. Hawkins [HB - Louisville]
213) S. Brown [CB - Michigan State]
236) D. Felton [WR - UCLA]
I would definitely be happy with this one - how about you?
If the players available are closely graded, then I would hope we can go OL, DE, or CB.
Don't feel the value is there at 30 for the offensive playmakers.
I really haven’t scouted (if you’ll allow me to
abuse that term) much this year, so this is really just me parroting others, but it seems like the names I’ve heard the most for 30 are Newsome, Farley, and Stokes.
Injury concerns for the first two, but if that makes them slide and the team likes the medicals enough (big if), then it would seem to be good value.
He also said Allen might be at the top of the list, so he was not even really making that claim in full.
I do still think, made man or not, it does not hurt for Palmer to highlight his most recent QB guru success story.
This is a good time to "consider the source", but that doesn't mean I don't like what I see/hear.
Edit: Although a reasonable counter point is that Palmer would be taking credit away from himself by touting Allen as naturally gifted over being molded (not that both can't be true).
Assuming you’re being sarcastic?
Unless you think you can make a strong case for Allen, Diggs, Sanders, Beasley, Dawkins, Morse, Williams, Hughes, Oliver, White, Poyer, or Hyde?
Like I said, Walter is limited in that his reports aren’t very detailed and he often is missing some relevant prospects, but it’s an ok snapshot so long as it’s not someone’s sole source.
This will obviously be unpopular, but I’ve enjoyed walterfootball at least just to get a basic idea of the draft class through scouting reports.
Definitely supplement with other sources as he regularly is missing relevant prospects and does not keep things super updated.
My first thought was Aaron "Mayhem" Maybin. Didn't like the "football player" or the *ahem* "rapper"...
My second thought was Vontae Davis. "Who?" Exactly.
