  1. good so far, but if players are going to live there....what is your power supply for the island? How about other infrastructure like drinking water and sewers? Fire station? If you are starting your island from scratch...there is a lot more to it.
  2. We have heard over and over and over....the Foxboro is not a nice place to play for a lot of players. That coaching staff wears on people. A lot of players probably only sign/played there because with Brady they thought they were a superbowl contender every year. Even if you think Bellichick makes the team a contender...with Brady gone 'half' of that 'winning draw' is gone. I'm sure a lot of players are hesitant to want to be there ESPECIALLY with new rules/regulations that may come because of Covid and how that coaching staff will deal with them.
  3. Except, as above, for the required meeting space, weight rooms, and practice fields that NFL teams seem to spend a lot more time on than most other sports.
  4. I thought a bubble would work better for MLB than the NFL. NFL teams have more players requiring more space/training facilities/practice fields. You could have a MLB bubble with a few diamonds available, and the teams just share them for practice. In the NFL, how much time and how much space do you need for practice, and as far as training facilities (meeting rooms, weight rooms, etc), it puts a LOT more stress on single locations even if you have just a handful of teams.
  5. Very few things will ever be 100% safe. As a society, we have to determine where to draw the line between risk and reward. To most people, keeping schools closed for Covid-19 vs the flu ...the line seems to be between them. Your very linear argument seems to be ignoring that. So why would many prefer to keep schools closed for Covid and not the yearly flu? Everything we know so far says Covid has a higher hospitilization rate, higher death rate, more long term issues that arrive in people who recover from it, and there is no vacccine for Covid (if a huge, wide spread outbreak of the flu occurred, we have several vaccines available that could be administered in the community)
  6. As far as the sports leagues go...I wouldn't say ineptitude....maybe a bit too much optimism......planning for the best case scenario (or at least hoping for it and integrating it into the plans.) Heres the thing, they want to play, they want to make money....so they have to plan for that based on the current conditions and then make adjustments around it. They would much rather plan for a scenario with a bit of caution that makes them the most money and adjust on the fly if need be.......rather than plan for a scenario that doesn't make them as much money.
  7. I had a long discussion with a few friends about this...and while many of us understand this..it wasn't apparent until we broke it down. If your party wants to win a presidential election, your candidate should be someone younger or newer to National politics.........older in age, well established veteran Washington DC politicians don't do so well in the past few decades: -1992, young newcomer Bill Clinton beats George H Bush -1996, Clinton beats older, long time politician Bob Dole -2000, Bush Jr (new to Washington politics, although not his family) Beats long time Washington politician Al Gore -2004, Bush Jr Beats John Kerry, who had been in Congress for almost 20 years -2008, Obama, younger and a relative newcomer, beats Washington Veteran John McCain. -2012, Obama beats Romney (best recent example of two 'younger' candidates against each other) -2016, Trump Beats Clinton. While not young, Trump wasn't the Washington DC veteran...against Hillary who many in the country viewed as the best example of typical Washington insiders I'm sure there have been exceptions and will be exceptions in the future...but the rule seems to be if your party wants to win....have your candidate be younger and fairly new to Washington...do NOT have a candidate 65-70 or older and viewed as someone with long time ties to Washington DC. The problem is....the voters/party members are the ones who select their candidate in the primaries. I'm sure many people who are very dedicated to their party may not like this...but it seems the best way for EITHER party to win election is you find a candidate who is younger, moderate within their party, and someone who is fairly new to Washington.
  8. I think its better than 50-50 around here, but the numbers are getting worse. My personal observation is that in the last 2-3 weeks, more people are out in public without masks, and social distancing...well, that concept is fading fast.
  9. I never thought of this...I always assumed there would be a season almost for sure. First of all, I still think there will be a season. Even if they have to shorten it AND push it back. Shorten the season to 10 games, and play the Superbowl in March if you have to...that would give them a lot more time to work things out. As far as the draft, I would personally want a weighted lottery, with some restrictions to keep it fair in my mind. Slightly weighted (Cincy has a 10% chance at top pick)...but no team can move more than 12 spots up or down. Worst case scenario for Cincy is they pick 12th...best case for KS is they pick 21st. Buffalo would be able to pick anywhere from 10th to 32nd in this case.
  10. I hate the pats team and their fans...both Dolphins I hate the team, but don't care either way about the fans. Jets, I don't mind the team..its JUST the fans I hate.
  11. Are you saying they made up the poll results out of the thin air?
  12. I think it is more the 'silent middle' and not the silent majority. I think the majority of the nation is split between the 2 sides..and they certainly are not silent. Those in favor of kneeling let you know their point of view..and those who don't favor it let you know also. The 'silent' portion of the nation is the middle..those that won't take a firm stand either way, because they either don't care at all, or they see both sides of view.
  13. It is going to make placing bets on games interesting......what if the day of a game you have no idea who will be allowed to play and not? Not to mention how much stress this will cause those filling out their fantasy lineups a couple days in advance.
  14. Its a message forum, ins't discussion like this what it is all about? Especially when this is a topic directly relating to the near future of the very sport this forum is about..
  15. Bad response. As per what I said in a previous post..... You say "SO THEY HAVE IT?" like its nothing? what about the families they live with...infant kids...parents or grandparents they may have close contact with? Not to mention coaches they interact with that aren't currently world class athletes...and the family members of those coaches and staff and trainers? There is a LOT more to playing the game than simply saying...so what, they are world class athletes.
  16. Lot of things I want to know how they deal with... As you said, what if a team shows up at the stadium, and the morning of the game 4 of the 5 starting OL test positive? If the Bills play the Jets and the day after the game you find out a bunch of Jets players tested positive, do the Bills or Jets opponents not want to play them? Players agree to play, but what happens when/if a few players get the virus and they do get really sick? Do some teammates see that and have second thoughts and back out? or pressure the union to make changes? Lots of coaches and I'm sure trainers aren't as young or in shape as the players, yet they have contact with them everyday. Sure, the players may in general be in good shape, but how about the coaches? Speaking of the players, these days they all have their diet and overall health monitored. Yet, we know there are some players (OL and DL) that aren't in the best of shape due to their weight. Are they more prone to get it..and if they do get it..is it likely to impact them in a more severe way? Finally how about the players families? Sure, they might be in good health, but what about when they go home at the end of the day to visit their wives, kids, maybe parents? If I'm a member of the Bills and playing the Dolphins on Sunday...and I hear the virus just went around the Phins locker room..do I want to take a chance and see if I get it and then come home to my 2 or 3 kids, maybe an infant?
  17. I think they are going to have to get to daily testing....everyone needs to get tested on the way into the facility. I'm not sure what else you can do.
  18. Would I watch? Yes, Would I like it? No. I think the minimum you could do would be 8 games..and then you would have to change other things. 8 game season. Top 8 teams in the playoffs. Next 16 teams play a 'play in' game vs each other to fill out the remaining 8 spots. Bottom 8 teams eliminated. The less games you play, the larger the playoffs would have to be...but you still have to make the regular season worth something by giving a bye to the top teams.
  19. Yes and no. How many fights have happened in the stands at games between 2 people that outside of the sports arena may have been friends or have a lot in common besides the teams they cheer for? I have witnessed workplace incidents around sports...my main office is just outside of Foxboro, MA, and have seen people come there from out of town for meetings..have the conversation turn to sports...have it turn to an argument....and still to this day the people who argued there will not even acknowledge each other on conference calls.
  20. I spent a few years living near Boston, and even now my company has an office off of 495 not too far from Foxboro....so I tend to drive by, it not drop in, Patriot place every so often. The thing is...the place isn't that busy that often. Many times in the past few years I have dropped by to walk around and stop at a place to eat on a really nice summer day in June or July...but if it is a weekday...the place isn't busy at all. I wouldn't say a 'ghost town', but certainly it is noticable how slow it can be there (pre-covid, of course). I'd like to see the actual turnover rate of businesses there..or see how much they are subsidized in their locations there....or just to see if they make SO Much more money on gameday/event weekends that it all evens out.
  21. To me its a combination of her voice and her 'youthfulness' For example, the words she uses, the fact after Tasker gets an answer correct when she ask him a question and she replies with "ding ding ding ding ding!" to show he is correct.....she comes across more like she would fit on a goofy morning show than on a sports show. I don't need her to be a total robot...but with her voice I wish she would slightly tone down her exuberence.
  22. I don't know Brees background, but for many people, a small difference in how they view the Flag is leading to a lot of contention: -I know some people to which the Flag of the USA represents the military. It represents that over all else. I is primarily a symbol of fallen troops of the past and those that serve the nation now. To them, any slight in any way against the flag is a slight against the military and its just not appropriate. -I know other people that just don't understand why the flag means mostly the military and troops to others. To them, the Flag represents the country as a whole....the people, politics and politicians, customs, Police and the justice system/courts (good and bad), and yes, the military...but the military only being a small part of what it means just like all other aspects. When those people protest in any way involving the flag, the are not protesting against a small part of what it means..but they are protesting against what it means to them. There are people taking extreme points of view on both sides of this...but a lot of the disagreement, and twitter fights..are simply because both sides hold the U.S. Flag as meaning something slightly different form the other side. Maybe a starting point to make things better would be if people who view the flag as representing the Military and troops would try to see that the flag means something else to the other side.........and for those who are protesting the flag and anthem to understand that it means something else to others also.
  23. QB makes the WR.....Unless your name is Randy Moss and you can just have your QB throw it 50 yards downfield and you jump and get the ball. Moss made Culpepper in those years Culpupper put up those big stats.....QB makes the WR in most other situations.
  24. Have you ever looked into Front office Football 8? Its probably the closest thing to a football version of OOTP.
  25. Interesting video where a guy shows some madden videos of problems with the game.....animations to make the game 'look' good cause players to do the wrong thing....players with very low run block and strength ratings being able to seal off the edge against much higher rated defender with ease.....the offensive line almost always pushing the D-line 2 yards down the field on 'dive' plays...etc.
