This is why it will still go up. But don’t expect a significant jump as they borrowed around 27.5M per team from future Cap “Multiple agents told Packer Central that they expect the owners and players union to agree to borrow against future caps to “smooth over” the difference between the potential for a dramatically decreased cap in 2021 and dramatically increased caps in the future.” so look for it to go on its normal 10M jump per year until that borrower cap is paid back. https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/ny-nfl-salary-cap-20210220-vzny3dynmnd3nkafna5diavvfy-story.html Plus, as ESPN reported, the decreased 2020 revenue numbers in a normal year would have set the 2021 cap at around $160 million. So any difference between that number and the 2021 cap will have to be borrowed against the 2022 and 2023 cap limits in a “2021 COVID True-Up,” per the terms of the NFL’s side-letter agreement with the players’ union. So any cap number higher than that $180 million floor will require more money sliced off the cap in upcoming years.

Any interest in Saquon Barkley?

Nope -
Good now I can’t stop reading about people wanting to overpay a RB.
-
Ummm again I bet it isn’t. Players owe between 25-30M per team back to NFL. You really think the Owners won’t get that money back lol.
-
Not really Players Still have to give the money back that was “borrowed” to set the floor of 182.5M. Well over what the cap should be. so let’s say the new number next year calls for a 30M increase. That would be an increase to 150M where it should be set now. Meaning a 2.5M increase in 2022 only. Still not accounting for the players Borrower Money of 27M per team. So a 30M spike only would move the cap 3M is the owners said well we are taking that payback in full in 2022. Likely won’t. I suspect a 5-10m reduction of where the cap should be every year until that 27M is paid back.
-
Cap isn’t going up that much. Players have to still give back roughly 27.5M per team. The Cap this year based on Revenue should be 150 - 155M per team. They set the floor where they set it. Now part of that will be getting that player money back in the next couple years. 3 years IMO before you see the cap back to growing majorly.

No UFA is setting up as no major holes going into the draft. Drafting the best football player available in each round. Draft - Develop - Re-Sign or take the Comp Pick. Rinse and repeat. Once Josh get his deal that is how the Bills are going forward.

Breaking: Daryl Williams signs 3 year extension

Pretty close to his value as well. I said a 8M AVV is what he is worth and was laughed at by many saying if I didn’t come with 12 he walks. -
Offseason Primer Position Group: WR/TE
MAJBobby replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like taking WRs in every draft as well. Even deeper in the draft Elite WRs can be found late proven over and over again. Heck even someone like a Stevie Johnson was tremendous value for a 7th. Colston etc etc. I think with our current WR group I dont see a 1st or 2nd used in the position this year, but some late round steals I am good with. I am one that thinks you should take a WR and a CB in every draft -
Offseason Primer Position Group: WR/TE

Agree his INJ have concerned me, but last year there was no lingering effects for the most part. Those injuries though are the reason I almost went with Everett or Smith instead and why I mentioned it might be better signing one of them while letting everyone else battle over the big fish (Henry) -
Offseason Primer Position Group: OL
MAJBobby replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get it in terms of one persons valuation. I am fine letting him walk then his play isnt over 10M a year play. Just my feeling I have been pretty good at gauging the OL market since Incognito was here. IF I am getting into the Double Digits with Williams I am going to sign Moton or get one of the premier LTs and move Dawkins at that point. But I also know I dont run the Bills and they tend to not do what I call for in some of these, but I try to see how they built a specific Position Group and stay with that philosophy for the most part and add my flair. I just dont think the OL is as good (specially on the Right) as Josh made them seem. -
I would rather just sign Everett, Smith, or Henry

Only thing that forever will give me pause on this scenario is the NFL Referees. I can just see a ticky tack or ghost PI call changing the game there, they already do it enough already -
Offseason Primer Position Group: OL
MAJBobby replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont think they do either, but if they do I am all over him, then will know more in about a week when tags and such start happening. Williams Market value is 8M AAV. I am not going much over that his play also is right around that dollar amount as well. Not assuming it will happen with Williams what did with Spain as well, but that is a concern you have to have because it was similar to play in CAR his play dropped as he got comfortable. And should ALWAYS have that concern when talking to a player with that history coming off a solid Contract year performance, there is enough history in this league that tells teams to protect themselves when working long term contracts for players that have that history. -
WR/TE – AS good as the WR group was the TE group was just blah. Also, by the time that we got to the playoffs we were Injured deeply in WRs and it showed, Only Diggs, McKenzie and maybe Brown (not sure because his play did fall off a cliff even after being on IR) healthy. Bease playing on a fractured leg and Davis wasn’t healthy either. I think they messed up a bit and should have elevated Stills but once game not going to second guess and this is the offseason now. However, as a group I do think the WRs were the best on the offense, and maybe best position group on the team (could still argue the Secondary was). Either way I am super excited the Buffalo Bills FINALLY have a top weapon group for Modern NFL Football. They think that I don’t like about our WRs at this time they feel very specialized when we start getting to the depth, like McKenzie, Roberts. Bills UFAs: Andre Roberts, 33 yrs, ST/WR, 2020 AAV 2.3M, SPOTRAC Market Value: N/A – I think this is the hard one for me, while he is an excellent returner, offers nothing in terms of WR value. While that is normally ok it showed in KC not being able to really go to another healthy WR. Maybe he takes below market value contract. There is some evidence that he would, he was cut before the season and despite other offers and bigger money from other teams he honored his handshake deal and re-signed with Bills, blowing off the other teams and offers. But I do think we have McKenzie that we could re-sign for returning and offers more value because of his play on the offense as well. I think because of that I would sign McKenzie and let Roberts walk. Isaiah McKenzie, 26 years, WR, 2020 AAV: 962K, SPOTRAC Market Value: N/A – He has his role and plays that role well. I think there is opportunity here to consolidate the two UFAs and sign one, that would be McKenzie, he keeps his role on the offense and expands his role into the return game. I know we would be moving on from an All -Pro return man, but his age is getting up there and we must start consolidating roles a bit, KC game showed when we start getting injured at WR we don’t have more complete WRs to compete. McKenzie on offense capability gives me more value than a ST only Roberts IMO. So, I am going with McKenzie giving him first shot at returning as well as keep his roll on offense. Tyler Kroft, 29 yrs, TE, 2020 AAV 6.25M, SPOTRAC Market Value: N/A – The professional inactive 6.25M player. That alone tells me that he is walking, and he should. This experiment (much like the Murphy experience) failed, never came back from the foot issues, and still even had more foot issues. So, IMO he walks there is already better players on the team, and I think the Bills see that too with the amount he as inactive on Sundays. On Contract WR: Stefon Diggs, 27 yrs, WR, Cap Hit 12.26M, Savings 6.25M: Diggs made me eat my words. I remember the 2019 trade deadline when trading for him was discussed I did not view him as a player that could be a true NO 1 WR and someone that could carry the position group. Boy was I wrong. I always knew he was an elite route runner, but I saw a different part of his game that I did not know he had with his physical play and immediate chemistry with Josh. He obviously is not going anywhere but needs to make sure there are other options as KC game showed when there is nothing else (injury) the offense struggled. He had a Career year with the Bills setting his personal bests in almost every stat: TGTs 166, Rec 127, Yards 1553 (all career bests) YPR 12.1, 8 TDs, 76.5% catch rate. Diggs is a Stud and glad the trade was made, and my eyes opened. He is a key to this offense and does drive it, I am more than happy having him under contract and in his prime at this point. John Brown, 31 yrs, Cap Hit: 9.52M, Savings: 7.931M – I liked Brown in 2019, but this looked like a different John Brown, and more like the one that was with the Ravens, Injured and Ineffective. I think Davis as a 4th round cost-controlled rookie outplayed him and with that big savings number and a tradeable asset I would move on from him personally. However, I think that move happens in or after camp, unless they need the space for something working with in UFA. And unlike in the past a lot of times when releasing a player for the Bills opened a hole, I don’t think that hole exists with Davis rookie performance, I think he has shown he can be your WR2. So, I think I am moving on from Brown this offseason. His numbers TGTs 53, Rec 33, yards 458, TDs 3, 63.5% catch rate. When you look at those numbers that is where about he has been his entire career, except for 1 year in AZ and 1 year in Buffalo. Cole Beasley 32 yrs, Cap Hit: 7.368M, Savings: 4.368M – I didn’t watch Beasley much when he was in Dallas, but I know when stationed in Ft Hood, Dallas fans would rave about how he was uncoverable. And his two years in Buffalo I see it. He is so good in and out of his breaks and creating separation. Not a complaint on him as much as on the offense, it would seem there would be stretches he would not be targeted but also then heavy targets, usage was a little weird, but glad he is on the team and very valuable to the offense. I wish he were younger because he is getting near the tail end of his career. Much like Diggs he set his career bests this year. 107 TGTs, 82 rec, 967 yards, 4 TDs, 76.6% reception Rate, all but TDs were Beasley’s career marks. With Diggs and Beasley there are your top 2 WRs, the rest augment these two. Gabriel Davis, 22 yrs, WR, Cap Hit: 955K, Savings: 430K – Lets start with the Rookies Numbers, 62 TGTs, 35 Rec, 599 yards, 7 TDs, 56.5% catch rate. As a 4th round rookie with limited offseason work these are IMO great production, already at No 3 WRs numbers when you look at Diggs and Beasley before him, that are only so many footballs to go around. I really like his 7 TDs that as a rookie getting in the endzone, there was also some more that were dropped or incomplete. What I am a bit concerned with was his completion rate. That is on the lower side I would rather that number be above 65% so there is some work there for the rookie to improve. However, his play to me has made John Brown a tradable asset at this point. Looking forward of the future with him, I think there is the high end No 2 WR is his ceiling, I also think he may be trending to prove me wrong as well because I thought Isaiah Hodgins would have been the better of the two that we drafted, early returns have me thinking I was wrong there as well. Isaiah Hodgins, 23 yrs, WR, Cap Hit: 819K, Savings: 700K – Red Shirt year for him, so there is nothing really to talk about this year with him but will mention some of the stuff from his scouting report. Wonderful body control, balance ball skills, hands, and adjustments. Has a natural feel for tracking the football and he catches everything. Makes acrobatic catches look easy in addition to handling the routine stuff. Does well to find space in zone coverage to make himself available. A true technician as a route runner and he is fairly refined. Forces his share of false steps from corners and he has some deception to him. Long and tall with a massive catch radius and he does well to extend it vertically. Outstanding skills along the sideline. The most natural hands in the class. Issues he has had are Wont break tackles offers little to nothing after the catch, slow release off the line and ability to beat tight press is questionable. Route Running is what has allowed him to create separation. Jake Kumerow, 29 yrs, WR, Cap Hit: 920K, Savings: 920K – I just want to put his numbers as to me they are funny. 1 tgt, 1 rec, 22 yards, 1 TD, 100% rec rate. TD Jesus needs to be a NO 1 WR with those numbers if you project them LOL. In all seriousness I do not expect anything from him with Hodgins coming back healthy they are the similar skills with body control, etc. Likely gone after camp. Duke Williams, 28 yrs, WR, Cap Hit: 850K, Savings: 850K – I know there are Duke Truthers, but another time to move on. Might make it to camp, but time to move on from him as well, our top end WRs are just too good for him to break out on the roster as well. I guess there is a chance but (Diggs, Davis, Beasely, Hodgins) I only see two spots on the roster for WRs. I wish he would have transitioned to a TE, but it is too late in his timeline to do that now. Tanner Gentry, 27 yrs, WR, Cap Hit: 780K, Savings: 780K – Only thing I got on him is hasn’t seen the active field since 2017 but gets a shot at least through camp due to his friendship with Josh. End of the day I expect him cut. On Contract TE: Lee Smith, 34 yrs, TE, Cap Hit: 2.25M, Savings: 2.25M – What can I say about the OT playing TE at this point, other than he will likely be here next year for the final year of his deal if he doesn’t retire. I know there is talk about considering retirement, but I don’t see anything official yet. He cleaned up his penalties in the run game and blocking and offered a little bit of leaking ability in the endzone. I am fine with him retiring or sticking for one more year, he fills a role. And I have never been a big Lee Smith person never understood why he was brought back, but I have been ok with his play. Dawson Knox, 25 yrs, TE, Cap Hit: 1.085M, Savings: 675K – Knox is SO Frustrating to me. I see the talent there at times, but then he disappears a lot as well. I would be fine making him the TE2. But IMO TE is a major need on this team. I don’t need multiple top end TEs like Baltimore, but I know I need better than Knox. When you play a game like KC where you have some injuries outside at WR, you need a TE that can fill that gap, and your TE1 should be able to handle that role. I am not sure if I go in UFA and try and get it or draft at this point, but I want multiple TEs brought into the team this offseason. Out of the group Knox is the only one IMO that has shown enough to at least stick, the rest there is some potential with but that is it. Knox’s numbers have been similar both years 44 TGTs, 24 Rec, 288 yards, 3 TDs, 54.5% catch rate. I am sorry I need better numbers from my TEs. However, I do know there is an argument that we don’t use the TE that much, so that question always brings to me why? Is the offense designed not to use the TE or the lack of a top end TE keeping major sections of the playbook from being used? We haven’t suffered much here because IMO a Slot WR and a TE are similar in terms of helping a QB. If you have a good slot (Beasley) you don’t need a top end TE. However, ONCE you have both your offense really takes off IMO. Tommy Sweeney, 26 yrs, TE, Cap Hit: 875K, Savings: 825K – I know there are some Sweeney truthers out there. I describe him as still an unknown after 2 years still not sure what we have here. I think it is cheap enough for him to come to camp and see if we actually see something from him in year 3. I am not counting on anything from him though at this point. Nate Becker, 25 yrs, TE, Cap Hit: 660K, Savings: 660K – I think he is likely a camp cut but could be slotted as that blocking TE if Lee Smith retires. That is what he was mostly in college as well. Reggie Gilliam, 23 yrs, TE/FB, Cap Hit: 786K, Savings 773K – I think there is something there with Gilliam. I am not saying that he is going to be an elite TE, because on the smaller side 6-1 I don’t think he will ever be there, but as a TE/FB I think there is value for him on the team. But as mentioned with Knox I really want some real competition brought into this group in the offseason. Possible UFA TGTs (go with my top 4 or top 5) I don’t think I am going to sign a WR during UFA, if anything I would look for Speed and value, but I still would draft one later, or maybe UDFA. We are not old in that group at all but the aging depth could be worked on, even if that is with those 1 year vet deals Bills like to give out it seems. With Josh as a QB I also think that will help us bringing in those 1-year VET WRs looking to put up numbers to land another contract. The issue is we are pretty good in our top 4 (top 3 if you move Brown) so not sure a vet looking at this situation says yeah let’s go there to try to put numbers for a year. TE though is a different story. I would like to see one drafted and maybe one signed. WR: (there are a lot more but I don’t see money being used here) AJ Green, 33 yrs, WR (Likely 5M AAV) – Does he want to try for a Ring??? Curtis Samuel, 25 yrs, WR (likely 10M AAV) – Want a more talented McKenzie type? Rashard Higgins, 28, 27 (Likely 5M AAV) TEs Hunter Henry, 27 yrs, TE (Likely 10.5M AAV) - This is the signing I am after. Landing him gives me that elite TE. Gerald Everett, 27 yrs, TE (Likely 7M AAV) – Another TE1 sitting there and offers more years left in tank than a Gronk like. Jonnu Smith, 26 yrs, TE (Likely 7M AAV) – Another TE1 sitting there. Ok to the point of what I would do. I leave WRs alone. Likely re-sign McKenzie and go into the draft with what we currently have rostered. I think Bills will be hard to bring other WRs in that are looking to revitalize their career with a 1-year deal in hopes to land a future contract or hit UFA again with better numbers, we just have too much depth, I think. However, might be able to get like an AJ Green type at the end of their career that would like to be on a team geared up for a run. Now TEs though I am signing one of the 3 I listed. Maybe an Everett or Smith is liked more by most little bit less of a talent but more reliable in terms of health. I also could see going after one of the small fish while the big fish is being fought over. I am trading or releasing Brown at some point. So you wont see him on my Roster below. Also I am likely drafting or signing some rookie WRs. I think Smith retires and cutting Becker, letting Kroft walk and Signing Hunter Henry WRs Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis, Isaiah McKenzie, Isaiah Hodgins, Jake Kumerow, Duke Williams, Tanner Gentry TEs Hunter Henry, Dawson Knox, Tommy Sweeney, Reggie Gilliam Next Writeup: RBs Past Writeups: Full Overview: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230905-buffalo-bills-offseason-primer-state-of-the-bills/ Defensive Line: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230921-offseason-primer-position-group-dl/ Linebackers: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230960-offseason-primer-position-group-lb/ Secondary: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230969-offseason-primer-position-group-secondary/ Offensive Line: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/231560-offseason-primer-position-group-ol/

Offseason Primer Position Group: OL
MAJBobby replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. I think your depth needs to have that positional flexibility but your top 5 should be experts in the position they play IMO. With only carrying 7 active and maybe 9 on the roster, your depth needs that flexibility and why Bates IMO is so valuable to the Bills. Teller imo was traded away because of how they wanted to build the OL with a priority focus on pass blocking, he still struggled there in CLE, but was an elite Run Blocker, so he fell into a team to highlight his skill set. I think he would have not reached the highly talked about Teller that you got in CLE with Buffalo because the amount we pass, it would have exposed him. Just my thinking on that, if his pass protection was better he still would be on Buffalo IMO. -
Offseason Primer Position Group: OL
MAJBobby replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To counter, I am only not resigning the right side, but am improving one immediately with Moton. So I would only really be going into ?? at RG. But IMO the Right side needs to be upgraded it was Bad. But I get your feeling there and likely the Bills are thinking in line with you. With Gabe Jackson I am not sure if I can get him in the 6-8M range I think I would be ok bringing him in at OG replacing Feliciano. I dont really want to get in the business to paying OGs in the 12-15M range right now, specially in the constricted cap environment this year. Could combine the Osemele and Fluker deals if Jackson would be up for a 1 year 8M deal. -
Sorry for being a bit late, had a ton of travel for work. Will try and get the rest of the offense finished up before UFA starts Offensive Line – I was just OK with the OL play. While they were actually pretty good for most of the season pass blocking their run blocking really suffered all year, and really fell off the cliff when we lost Ford to INJ. I have a feeling a lot of people are not going to like what I write about this group, but I think I see how the Bills want to build the OL, and that is pass blocking as the priority, over run blocking. Obviously, they would like that OL that is good at both, but if they seem to lean to the pass blocking more if there is a flawed player at the position. I will continue to look at the OL in the future under that context, Pass Blocking is the Priority over the Mauler. IMO this was the lowest performing group in the offense, particularly because their inability to run block really forced one sided offense, which was fine when our WRs were all healthy, when they were not (KC game) it became evident their struggles. Bills UFAs: Ty Nsekhe, 36 yrs, OT, 2020 AAV: 5M, SPOTRAC Market Value: N/A – He has been depth since he is come here and has provided pretty good depth and seemed to play good enough when he has had to play. However, with the cap crunch and the age factor with him I think it is time to move on and look to get younger in this position I think they have that youth on the roster already and I will get into that later, but I think Nsekhe is gone, unless we are talking Vet minimum here. Daryl Williams, 29 yrs, RT, 2020 AAV: 2.25M, SPOTRAC Market Value: 7.8M – He had a couple games with where he struggled really late in the season and playoffs mostly, rushers with speed he has some issues with, however I think that Market Value is about right on him. So, If I can get him back on a 3-year extension in the range of a 6-8M AAV I am good with bringing him back. We start getting over that 8M and I think I am willing to let him walk. As one of the better linemen this year I would look at bringing him back, but I would want the contract protected as well, with an easy out after the year, like Spain I think there is that chance he can go that route of Spain as well gets a contact and then starts regressing, forcing to move on. That is what scares me about him, and even as one of the better linemen this season there is nothing with Williams that tells me that he cannot be upgraded, so I would also want to protect against that, may be a player that Bills let hit the market and see what happens with that, I don’t think there is a must need with Williams of not letting him hit the market first. Jon Feliciano, 29 yrs, OG, 2020 AAV: 3.625M, SPOTRAC Market Value: 8.3M – Another I think could very well walk, I do not think he is worth the market value of 8.3M AAV, also I don’t think he really is that great. He was known for his nastiness and power yet got abused in both the run game and pass game against power. The Chiefs game he really struggled, and if that is who we are measuring against we need to get better here, not pay good cap space to tread water. The issue I am having saying out right let him walk is Morse Situation, with another concussion Bills may be forced to bring him back this year so they have a BU Center as well, protecting themselves in the future if they do not get a Rookie to start grooming for Morse. I would be fine either way letting him walk or re-signing (depending on the terms) But I think he is actually worth closer to 5-7M AAV. Brian Winters, OG, 30 yrs, 2020 AAV 3.0M, SPOTRAC Market Value: N/A – Provided depth, albeit not that great of depth imo. With declining play and youth on the roster I think Winters walks. I would let him walk. Had a shot with Ford INJ and Spain release to secure a new contact instead lost that job to Ike Boettger (who I thought played fine) so moving on. Ike Boettger, OG, 27 yrs, 2020 AAV 570K, SPOTRAC Market Value: N/A (RFA) - I would likely qualify Ike at 2nd round value RFA tender this year or re-sign Boettger to a 3-year deal in the 2M AAV range. I think he has shown he can start in a pinch, I would not sign him as a starter, and that is how I think I am able to keep his AAV down. Gives him a nice raise and some security. At 2-3M AAV we have a nice depth OG, however I also understand with him wanted to move on, but as depth I would keep him. This provides security if you let Feliciano walk (or move him to Center). On Contract OL: Mitch Morse, 29 yrs, Cap Hit 10.34M, Savings 4.8M: In my opinion any talk of release here is strictly health related with the concussions. He is a very good pass blocking pivot and is athletic to be able to move, getting to second level and pulling, however at the POA he is a little light and struggles against power. However not the biggest issue, not an issue at all on the OL except for the health issues. I personally would keep him this year because I don’t think I am getting his caliber of play within the 4.8M of savings we would get from a release. However, this is where I let Feliciano walk, draft Morse’s future replacement, and let him play next to Morse as an OG. However, Bills do have to start planning for life after Mitch Morse, and I think that planning should start this year. I know people are looking at this as a cap savings cut but would make a hole you have to fill. So let’s say you like Feliciano here, that’s fine as well, I think it is a downgrade, but then you would want to get Feliciano under contract for about 7M a year, that is his AAV in 2020 and the Savings from Morse. Dion Dawkins, 27 yrs, Cap Hit: 11.395M: Dawkins was our most consistent and best OL this season. He once again showed people he is one of the better LTs in this league. Could this position be better? Maybe and then sliding Dawkins to RT, but I don’t think that is a need. I know there are a lot of people I have talked to that say he isn’t good and that is shown because when Josh Scrambled, he breaks out away from him, meaning Dawkins isn’t blocking, that is a wrong assumption, Josh just has a natural tendency to break right when he needs too. Most of the pressure this year am from the interior and the RT side. He is not going anywhere anytime soon unless they get a better LT and slide him to the right side. My opinion if you want that to happen just go get me a top end RT and not force the position change. He does struggle with run blocking, which to me is weird he has the power to be effective there, but a lot of times Run Blocking is more of a mindset than anything, and I just do not think he has that mindset, Was better in the beginning of the season with Ford next to him, than later in the season. Cody Ford, 25 yrs, Cap Hit: 2.047M, Savings: 307K – The enigma of the OL group, he is probably the most polarizing. I think he played very well at LG until injury. It was like they finally found the position that will put him in the best chance for success. His is athletically challenged on the edge but inside the phone booth much better, then has the power to hold up inside as well. Putting him in between two established players of Dawkins and Morse unlocked his ability IMO. It was ashamed he went down with INJ, because he would have been talked about as one of our better lineman IMO. He is a very effective run blocker and is an above AVG pass blocker inside at OG. IMO he is slotted right in to start at LG again next year and this position IMO looks solid, with depth needing to be addressed a bit. Ryan Bates, 24 yrs, OG/OT/C, Cap Hit: 850K, Savings: 850K – This would be an easy cool savings of close to 1M is he was released. However, you will not find a depth OT, OG, C for 850K. His value is ability to play every position on the OL. I would have expected him to play more than he did this year, but we were pretty healthy on the OL with the exception of Ford and a couple nicks here and there. But just that depth of all 5-position filled under 1M dollars is too valuable to move on from. When ever he did play since he has been here, he has not looked that he cannot play. I am maybe a bit of a Bates truther, but find me another team that can fill 5 positions of depth under 1M dollars. Jordan Devey, 33 yrs, OG, Cap Hit: 860K, Savings: 860K – Camp Fodder, I don’t expect anything from him. Will be cut and pocket the 860K savings after draft or camp. Trey Adams, 25 yrs, OT, Cap Hit: 780K, Savings: 780K – I think he will be given the first shot at the swing OT spot. I liked him coming out of Washington last year and was happy when Bills signed him as a UDFA. He was an elite OL in college and then INJ took their tool and cause the major draft slip, without his INJ he likely doesn’t leave the first round let alone all the way to a UDFA. His combine was horrible as well. But he was kept around all year on the PS, when Bills routinely moved people on and off the PS. This camp season is going to be huge for him, because I fully expect some more youth coming into the OL this offseason. Possible UFA TGTs (go with my top 4 or top 5) I would rather stay away from buying OL in the UFA market, as they get pretty pricey however there are also some bargains to be found, and with a constricted cap year I could see some 1 year deals given out to vets similar to Spain and Williams, and make them play to their next contract either with us or elsewhere. Interior (OG/C): Joe Thurney, 29, OG (Likely 12M AAV) Brandon Scherff, 30, OG (likely 10M AAV) Nick Martin, 28, C (Likely 7M AAV) DJ Fluker, 30, OG (1M AAV) Kelechi Osemele, 32, OG (Likely 1-2M AAV) OTs Taylor Moton, RT, 27 (Likely 12M AAV) – Let Williams walk, get younger and better with another RT from Carolina. Germain Ifedi, RT, 27 (Likely 1.5M) Kendall Lamm, RT, 29 (Likely 3M) Marcus Williams, 25 (9.4 AAV) – Long term replacement for Hyde Cam Robinson, OT, 26 (Likely 12M AAV) Ok to the point of what I would do. I would probably be more dramatic than most, and even the Bills, but this group needs to be upgraded specially on the right side. So, what I am doing is letting everyone but Ike Beottger walks. My Priority signing would be Taylor Moton and then depth with a Osemele and Fluker on 1-year deals. I go into the draft and find my long term replacement at C, and initial OG in the league until ready to move on from Morse. If I can pull that off the OL looks a little like this going into camp. LT - Dawkins / Bates LG - Ford / Osemele / Bates C - Morse / Rookie / Bates RG - Rookie / Fluker / Bates RT - Moton / Adams / Bates Next Writeup: WR/TE Past Writeups: Full Overview: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230905-buffalo-bills-offseason-primer-state-of-the-bills/ Defensive Line: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230921-offseason-primer-position-group-dl/ Linebackers: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230960-offseason-primer-position-group-lb/ Secondary: https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/230969-offseason-primer-position-group-secondary/

while I understand where you are coming from I also know he isn’t likely going anywhere. I think they pick up the 5th year option and give him the next year to prove it. (They might not even use the 5th year). But just kind of saying there is an argument as a team IF you think that light is gonna come on, sign him now earlier and cheaper similar to Peters. -

I agree with all that was said. I by no means want to move on from Hughes just showed the option of moving on and getting a younger pure pass rusher in Yannick. Perfect world would be add a year to Hughes lower his cap hit. Cut the deadweight and use it to sign Yannick on the other side. -

That is exactly how you play the draft. Not talking pundit projections talking Value -

I still likely won’t take him. But getting the extra pick(s) depending on the value of them I would be more open to it I think.
