The Titans and Dolphins at home are the only ones that look like possible wins.
-
Hard to see more than 2 or 3 winnable games on the schedule at this point after watching the Jets and Bears.
-
I'm comparing him against NFL QBs. In no way shape or form can you walk away from yesterday and say Josh Allen had a good game by NFL standards. That's complete idiocy.
-
Based off what we saw yesterday, it's hard to argue we aren't the worst team in the league right now. There are a couple bad teams, but we're truly awful.
-
Your "bar" for quality QB play is so low it's crazy. Aaron Rodgers played well. Ryan Fitzpatrick played well. Pat Mahomes played well. Josh Allen played better than Peterman, but he was still awful relative to other good QBs around the NFL yesterday.
-
6 of 15 for 74 yards with 3 sacks against backups in a game that was already over. If that impresses you I don't know what to say. To suggest he played well is crazy.

Hypothetical 2019 scenario, please comment

He might be around for a while but I'm not sure he's a guy we wind up building our defense around. In terms of building blocks, the only ones I see are White, Edmunds and Allen, with Dawkins as a guy who could hold the fort at LT for a while but not necessarily dominate. The only other decent players on the roster are guys who have been in the league for at least 6-7 years. Doug Whaley obliterated this roster while he was GM. His drafting was horrendous and his free agent signings had terrible cap ramifications. He put us in a bad spot, but I'm not sure the current regime has the eye for talent to turn this around. Agreed. Would be really nice to still have Sammy Watkins on the roster. He's still only 25 years old!!! -

True. Forgot about McCoy who we should be trying to trade asap. In terms of building blocks, all I see on the roster is Tredavious White, Tremaine Edmunds and possibly Josh Allen. You're stretching it to include Dion Dawkins who doesn't look like he's ever going to be a dominant LT but might be a decent one for a while. 3-4 guys out of 53 look like long term building blocks. That's simply pathetic for an NFL franchise. -
I'm beginning to sense that McDermott might be our version of Josh McDaniels when he was in Denver; an inexperienced coach with too much power who went out of his way to gut the roster and bring in his own guys, who ultimately aren't good enough. I think we might be heading towards a serious train wreck. Our roster is terrible and I don't think this regime has adequately shown they can identify talent.

I'm dead serious when I say the Bills need: Two new starting wide receivers A new starting tight end A new LG, C, RG and RT A new DE and new DT A new SLB A new CB and Nickel Back This roster is a hot mess right now. -

Trade down and accumulate picks. We need a lot more NFL calibre players. -
At this point they have to start Allen even though he's probably not ready. Peterman can't see the field again for this team.
-
The big problem is that each guy we've shipped out by trade or not re signed has been replaced by an inferior player. We've actively got rid of a ton of guys for various reasons, and for the most part the guys who they've brought in have been severe downgrades. At this point I think you really need to start questioning this regime's ability to evaluate talent. Their draft picks haven't been very good yet, this year's free agent class looks horrendous and they've shown they don't really value draft picks by how aggressive they've been moving up in the draft to target specific guys at the expense of giving away draft capital.

The current state of this roster is a major indictment of Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott. This roster is as bad as any team the Bills have fielded over the past 20 years. We have maybe a handful of guys under the age of 26 who we can build around, and most of the roster is composed of players who would struggle to find employment in the NFL anywhere outside of Buffalo. Our offensive line is laughably bad, we have the worst group of receivers in the league, next to nothing at tight end, an overpaid an often under performing defensive front and major issues at CB behind White. This team is very bad and a big reason why is because of how the current decision makers chose to gut the roster so that they could bring in their guys. Their guys clearly aren't good enough.
-
Agreed. We have an offense that's going to struggle to score 17 points per game. In today's NFL, it's nearly impossible to win when you struggle that badly to score.
-
What is the first phone call Beane makes today?

He should be trying to find someone who wants to trade a conditional pick for McCoy. -
Allen was not good. He was better than Peterman, but that's saying next to nothing in the grand scheme of things.
-
We can't rush the passer and we can't cover on the back end. The Chargers have a great QB and are loaded at WR. It seems like a really bad match up for our defense who just got shredded by a pretty average Ravens offense.
-
Seems impossible that Josh Allen will outplay Phillip Rivers and his supporting cast. It could be another very lopsided loss. The Chargers offense is much better than the Ravens O.
-
No that's a fact. 44 points was the 2nd biggest margin of victory in a loss in franchise history. The worst loss ever was MNF against he Pats in 2007 (46 points).
-
Taking a look at Brandon Beane's acquisitions.

This year's free agent class looks horrendous. The Lotuleilei contract is terrible. Not everyone likes them, but PFF graded him as the 2nd worst DT in the NFL last year and we give a one dimensional run defender $10 mil per season. This is possibly the least talented Bills roster we've had over the past 20 years. -
There are no positives to take from a 44 point loss in the NFL. That was the second worst loss in the history of the Buffalo Bills franchise.

They might sign a vet, but that guy probably isn't starting for a month. When we signed Kyle Orton the day preseason ended a few years ago he took 4 games before EJ completely imploded and he was ready to take his job. At this point I don't see a reason to do anything unless Allen is a train wreck against the Chargers. I also question which veteran QB would want to play for us knowing the tape will be horrendous and it could negatively affect their ability to get a future job in the league. I think we're probably stuck with Peterman and Allen for the season unless we sign a bust 1st rounder like Paxton Lynch as cannon fodder.
