  1. i considered it...then visited the area the last week of april... i sat in traffic for an hour and a half to go 20 miles during rush hour then i visited the house of my future in-laws which is about the same size as my house in rochester (might even be smaller than my house) and found out it costs 400k more than my house (my house is worth 107k, theirs is worth 500k) nice weather, nice scenery, but no thanks...plus, leaving NYS to go to an area where the government is just as retarded as the NYS gov just doesn't seem right
  2. nor do I...I'm not even sure what to make of this mess of a thread
  3. good lord...what ubernerd took the time to write that up
  4. If you ever had Enid Bloch (she taught World Civ), you'd know to keep your mouth shut about your political stance...otherwise you'd just watch your grade drop she never gave up the chance to tell you how much she hated white people, christianity, jews (she was jewish btw), and would go on to praise how beautiful foreign languages were compared to english, how much she's done for african americans and how amazing islam is and supported the palestinian effort (she even invited the head of the muslim community to our class one day to explain why jihad described in the koran and violence was acceptable in the israel-palestinian conflict...after 9/11 happened, he was on the local news saying "violence is never accepted anywhere in the koran...it is not part of islam") she claimed to welcome open discussion and thought...i tried that on my first paper...BAM! wakeup call with a D (I wish I kept that paper...her comments were ridiculous...i remember one of them saying "this is just wrong"...how can it be wrong? this is supposed to be open discussion!)...fall in line if you want an A, fall in line... as an engineer who didn't give a rats ass about gen eds and fighting her bullstevestojan, I did exactly that...i respewed her propaganda onto my papers and came out of the class with a solid A
  5. hey, it's like the time the target clerk told me i'd be better off using my coupon for 10% off each individual item rather than my 10% off the entire purchase coupon...
  6. i hear alot of complaints about that, but personally, i loved the architecture on north campus...i'm now at the university of rochester, and I don't like their ivy covered buildings
  7. 80 bucks!?!?! i do the whole shaving deal, but wouldn't mind a wax in between the cheeks...would make life easier and prevent the dingleberries

Her being fired for an eyebrow ring is stupid. But "The Church of Body Modification"? but here's an idea Hey guys, let's start the Church of Browsing the Internet at Work, so we can't get fired over it!
  17. what??? don't they have some sort of socialized system to feed the starving citizens of that wonderful place known as canada?
  18. nope, just 3 family friends who decided it would be cheaper to just do it themselves...one of the guys is actually really handy...put in his own hardwood floor but decided windows were too difficult after looking at the windows of our house (older house...you should see some of the framing..it's disgraceful), he advised us to just go with a professional installation, especially since 6 of the windows are upstairs work hasn't been done yet but yeah, the price ($5000) includes 9 windows and a new door work done by rochester colonial the windows absolutely needed to be changed...during the winter, i had plastic painter's tarp duct taped over the windows to keep the wind out...the tarp was always ballooned inwards and stretched tight i'd hope we didn't get ripped off...home depot and lowes were charging in the 6k range
  19. i'm told windows are very difficult to put in and have been recommended by others that have installed their own windows to just pay for a professional installation so i just plunked down 5k to change 9 windows in my house
  20. Chemical Engineering PhD student alot of waiting time between experiments
  21. it was a mistake...i originally thought i'd be at the westwood campus so i went ahead and booked my reservations myself using priceline (i'm on a limited travel grant and want to stretch it as far as I can to different conferences/labs so i'd rather book myself than have a secretary book reservations for me...they don't skimp much) seeing the professor's schedule, i might "luck" out and miss out on rush hour traffic since he seems to get started at 7am and doesn't finish until 8:30pm...i wouldn't mind getting out earlier than that as long as I can skip the traffic
  22. actually, i just found out i'll be spending most of my time in the ucla harbor medical center, wherever that is, so i might hang out around there if there's anything good also downgrading my car rental from full size to compact so i don't have to deal with horrible gas mileage of driving from brentwood to wherever the harbor medical center is
  23. how much did you tip?
  24. oops...i meant i'd care more to taste the local eats than to see local sites thanks for the recs oh, and any places my western new york ass should avoid so i don't catch a stray bullet?
