We had a huge crabgrass problem a few years ago. So we hired a guy just for the chemicals and he took care of matters. After paying him for two years and looking at a beautiful lawn, someone in my life decided we would be better off saving the money on the guy and taking matters back into our own hands. Last year it was brown patch and a minor grub infestation, this year it was a major grub infestation. The raccoons/skunks or whatever tore up my lawn feasting on the little fockers. It was nice when we could just call the guy.

Interesting that you equate back to school with football. I don't, but I never played so that's an angle I never considered. For purely selfish reasons I'd prefer that baseball and football didn't overlap as much. Football starts too early and baseball runs too late. An October-February football season in conjunction with baseball winding up before October would be ideal for me. Neither will happen, but I'll keep beating that drum anyway.

Have you ever heard of the "Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961"? Start the season a few weeks later and play the Super Bowl the Sunday before Presidents day. Football is a cold weather sport IMO, so less hot weather games in September and more snow games as an added bonus.

It's nice to see a positive outlook on the hire. There's a lot of concern that Rojas will just be Brody's puppet. And we'll have to wait and see if he can handle the media, let alone whether he's a good in-game manager. As for pedigree, are you aware that he's the cousin of Mel Rojas? I'm in wait and see mode, I don't enough about this guy to form a judgement yet.

I think he'll get in but he wouldn't have my vote. Just too many mediocre performances over the course of his career. The two SB MVPs and the fact that they were against the Pats make it a great argument. I think he's a borderline HOFer, but I'm south of that border. One comp which I'm not sure has been mentioned (search came up empty) is Plunkett. Both have 2 SBs, Manning has a 2-1 edge in SB MVP's and they both had .500 records. Eli's passing yards dwarf Plunkett's and Eli's iron man streak was amazing, but there is a precedent for a QB with two SB's to not get in.
