  1. Want: No way do I want to watch the Texans/JJ three straight weeks. Think: Without a lot of help from the Bills, the Texans wouldn't have won - on their home field. No way they make it out of KC. The game I'm looking forward to is Ravens/Titans. Throwback to the McNair/George vs. Lewis days. Two bruising teams.
  2. Common sense
  3. I thought I was the only one who remembered/liked Quark. Had no idea he was the screenwriter for What's Up, Doc? Watched that a few months ago., still very funny. RIP.
  4. Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
  5. After they made the call I told my son's there'd be a lot of talk about it after the game, but I was over any impact it had on that particular game almost immediately. And I disagree with those who claim that the 'common sense' standard is regularly applied to kick off returns. If it has, I missed it. My complaint is that applying subjectivity to a ruling where none is needed sets a bad precedent for officiating decisions going forward.
  6. I get your point, I don't think it would be great or take away the 20 years of dominance. But your second point about Peyton kind of argues against your first. If you'd rather not face him then beating him is still accomplishing something.
  7. I'm just a bill. Yes, I'm only a bill. And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
  8. I think you're missing the point. Whether he's a shell of himself or not, it would be nice to actually beat him instead of waiting out his retirement.
  9. The goal will always be to win the SB. My expectations/hopes in order of importance: 1) Josh improves to the point that I'm convinced he's the long term answer 2) Win the division 3) Win a playoff game 4) Hoist the Lombardi If you gave me any of these I'd probably consider it a positive step forward, but I think 2, 3 and 4 are predicated on 1.
  10. Well, they say time loves a hero But only time will tell If he's real, he's a legend from heaven If he ain't, he was sent here from hell
  11. Time, time and again I see you staring down at me Now, then and again I wonder what it is that you see With those angry eyes Well, I bet you wish you could cut me down With those angry eyes
  12. The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think, Oh, by the way, which one's Pink?
  13. And the sound that I'm hearing is only the sound of The low spark of high-heeled boys
  14. You have to hand it to Gettleman, he's willing to stand by his convictions. He was widely panned for not only picking Daniel Jones but for trading up to pick him as well. Time will tell how good/bad that turns out, but I think most people would agree that the Jones pick looks a heck of a lot better now than it did on draft night. This feels like the same type of choice.
  15. Who's the Clapper, Garrett? That would be amusing. The other names I've heard are Bienemy and McDaniels.
  16. Giants getting snookered. First McCarthy and now Rhule.
  17. Another town another place, Another girl, another face, Another truce, another race, I'm eating junk, feeling bad, Another night, I'm going mad, My woman's leaving, I feel sad, But I just love the life I lead, Another beer is what I need, Another gig my ears bleed, We are the road crew
  18. You've made a few subjective inferences about me here: 1) That I agree with the blind side block call. I've never expressed an opinion on that call, no clue why you brought it up. Two completely different plays/calls IMO. 2) The way I watch a game ("spend your weekends watching Robert’s Rules of Order" ). Please tell me what my reaction was after the play unfolded on Saturday and how it affected the way I watched the game. Here's a hint: it would probably surprise you. Discussing what happened after a game and the way I watch a game are two completely different things.
  19. I go back to the tuck rule. I never understood why that rule was ever on the books in the first place and I only recall ever seeing it applied once. But I grudgingly had to admit that it was applied correctly at the time. Fortunately once Al Davis passed away they got rid of the rule. I don't see any need to change this rule. Just apply it correctly. I'm over any impact it had on the game, but not how it reflects on the current state of NFL officiating. They have got to get better.
  20. I was worried they were gonna put him in concussion protocol.
  21. Holding may not be clearly defined and what constitutes a legal catch has definitely been a problem. But I'm not sure what's ambiguous about: ARTICLE 2. FAIR-CATCH SIGNAL Item 1. Valid Fair-Catch Signal. A fair-catch signal is valid if it is made while the kick is in flight by a player who fully extends one arm above his helmet and waves it from side to side. A receiver is permitted to legally raise his hand(s) to his helmet to shield his eyes from the sun, but is not permitted to raise them above his helmet except to signal for a fair catch. The ref correctly determined that no fair catch signal was made as did the Bills coverage team. Had the Bills coverage team left the field the returner would have been free to run it back for a TD and we'd all be talking about how dumb they were because it was a live ball. Since it was a live ball and the returner decided (after catching the kickoff) not to return it , the next potential area of ambiguity is the dead ball. As pointed out earlier, the relevant part of the rule book appears to be: ARTICLE 1. DEAD BALL DECLARED An official shall declare the ball dead and the down ended: when a runner declares himself down by: falling to the ground, or kneeling, and clearly making no immediate effort to advance. sliding. When a runner slides, the ball is dead the instant he touches the ground with anything other than his hands or his feet. Nobody in their right mind is arguing what the returners intent was. Problem is, intent was irrelevant. He didn't fall to the ground, he didn't kneel and he actually walked forward with the ball. I'm not sure how significant the blown call was. Probably should have been a safety. The entire game would have changed maybe for the better, maybe for the worse. What bothers me is in a year when the quality of NFL officiating appears to be at an all time low and in an era where the NFL is trying to take the subjectivity out of the calls a ref has to make (i.e. - the 5 vs. 15 yard facemask distinction) they applied a subjective standard to a rule that had no wiggle room for subjectivity. It's another shining example of how poor the current state of NFL officiating is right now.
  22. You left out John Parry.
  23. If you want to destroy my sweater Hold this thread as I walk away
  24. I could see Gruden wanting Brady, not so sure the Raiders would interest Brady.
  25. Not to nitpick, but wasn't that second down? Either way it was glorious. Not sure what I enjoyed the most: the Edelman drop, Bradys pick 6 or Belichick losing his sh!t when Vrabel clowned him on the rules loophole that Belichick initially exposed against the Jets.
