Someone who missed too many eye doctor appointments.
-
Open your eyes to the millions of lies that they tell you every day Open your mind to the clever disguise that the advertisements say How do they know what's good for you?
-
Not sure what it's like by you, but it seems like a free for all by me. You get a choice in that you can choose the facility you get an appointment with. But getting an appointment has been a chore. I'm on Long Island and one thing I've heard is that it's easier to get an appointment if you're willing to drive a few hours and get vaccinated upstate.

I know some things that you don't I've done things that you won't There's nothing like a trail of blood To find your way back home I was waiting for my hearse What came next was so much worse It took a funeral to make me feel alive Just open your eyes, just open your eyes And see that life is beautiful

My father in law - whose health is not good (especially lately) - is insistent on getting J&J because it's just one shot and he's worried about side effects. Reasonable concern IMO but it's delaying the process. My mom was scheduled to get Pfizer. She had a significant health scare recently and doctors told her Pfizer was the 'good one'. Through dumb luck - similar to your wife - she had an opportunity to get Moderna sooner so she jumped on it. I'd have waited a week for Pfizer based on doctors comments but tbh I'm not sure anyone knows which is or will be better so whatever. Glad she got vaccinated. Good luck with yours, first Moderna shot was a non-event for my mom, hope the second goes as well and hope same applies to you for both.
-
#metoo I'm curious whether anyone cares which vaccine they get. And if so why. Personally I'm not in a rush to get vaccinated. But very happy that my mom is only a few weeks away from the second dose (Moderna).

One of my favorite SNL skits. Every once in a while I'll sneak 'colossal waste of time' into a conversation and have a little chuckle to myself.

Strong call. Reminded me of a guy I haven't thought of for awhile: Mills Lane. Always felt the fight would be legit when he was in the ring. Sadly, a quick google revealed Mills had a debilitating stroke years ago. https://www.sportscasting.com/boxing-ref-mills-lane-faces-tragic-ending-after-success-in-ring-and-courtroom/

I had a minor cracked rib once, slept on it and the next morning ended up writhing on the floor in pain with every breath I tried to take. No clue what's going on with Eichel, but if he's a guy that's playing through pain and not b!tchin about it he's a guy I'd want to hold on to.

A case against continuity was made by ownership when we pulled the plug on the Rex disaster 2 years into his 5 year contract. And yeah, the continuity argument was made on this site during year 2 and to be honest I was on board with it for way too long. But I don't see how a case against continuity can be made right now.

Watching now. Doc Sevrinson (sp?) national anthem - outstanding! EDIT: as good as I remembered. Thanks for posting.

Nothing against Hagler, but I was on Hitman too. Hagler was a southpaw, no?
-
RIP. Hagler-Hearns was epic. It's a shame that boxing eventually became irrelevant to me, Hagler was part of it's great history.

What’s your earliest memory of the Buffalo Bills?

Where's the middle finger emoji when you really need it? -
No. Don't remember ever hearing the term 4 track. I'm fortunate enough to have missed out on the 8 tracks. I remember listening to an 8 track in someone's car and a song fading out, a clicking sound as the track changed and the same song fading back up and thinking....WTF!?!? But at that point cassettes were around (maybe not in cars yet?) so I guess that's akin to so many WTF moments my kids have with me.

Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human, silly human, silly human race, On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place, If the summer change to winter, yours is no, Yours is no disgrace

RIP. Back in the day cassettes were how I shared music with friends. It was a given that when you bought an album you'd record it on cassette for your friends. But I don't miss pulling that cassette out of the player in the car and seeing a long trail of tape because it got munched. And then using a pen to spin the tape back into the cassette and hoping it didn't sound like sh!t - or get munched again.

That's the part I find interesting. I could easily argue that the Pegula's hiring the unknown of McBeane is more impressive than the Isles hiring the known commodity of Lou/Trotz. @May Day 10 made a good point about the amount of control the Pegulas are willing to cede to their staff. But then look at Wang who knew nothing about hockey and gave the keys to the car to Milbury. What a disaster that was! I'm reminded every time I see Chara on the ice
-
Totally agree. My biggest fear for the Isles going forward is Lou's health. The blind squirrel was referencing whether the Isles lucked into him. That team has been a joke for way too long with a bad owner (Wang). I was surprised when he agreed to come to a team with a bad 30 year run and no arena. Agreed but my question is whether you think L&M were blind squirrels in landing Lou and Trotz since you think the Pegulas got lucky with McBeane.
-
I know you're an Isles fan (#metoo) - and apologies to Sabres fans if the perception is I'm turning this into an Isles thread - but do you think the Isles ownership was a blind squirrel when they hired Lou? How about Trotz? At the very least we lucked into that hire. Who lets their Stanley Cup winning coach walk? I think finding the right guys is easier said than done. Interesting parallels between the Bills, Sabres and Isles. From the outside looking in the Sabres have a lot of talented players but right now are a train wreck. McBeane came in and made some unpopular moves unloading talented players and managed to turn it around (granted Josh's ascension was a huge factor). When Lou/Trotz came in they lost their marquee player to free agency and replaced him with Filppula, Komarov and Kuhnackl - not exactly household names but the next year the Isles were markedly better and have been ever since. I don't know the first thing about Kevyn Adams except the Pegulas just hired him. But (again) from the outside looking in the coach looks like he's lost the locker room so as a next step I'd take a page out of the Bills playbook and can Kruger like they did with Ryan when it was obvious it wasn't working.
