  1. Not only would the Bills have won the game, they would have dominated it! like 35-0. All those FGs should have been TDs. They get to 13-0 and for some inexplicable reason forget what to do when they have a big lead. Run the crap outta the ball and control the clock and keep the Texans offense off the field while also keeping the Bills defense on the bench nice and fresh. I don't know that a true #1 WR would have won that game with Josh Allen throwing the ball 48 times. There was absolutely no need to throw that much as Singletary with only 13 carries and why the was Frank Gore even on the field? Why did it take the last two games of the season to get Duke Williams involved? This wasn't Billsy, this was outright stupidity! There is only one guy I blame for this loss and for a lost season with a championship defense along with an underutilized running back.
  2. Caldwell would make a great OC in Buffalo too...if leaves or in my dreams gets fired. If i'm not mistaken didn't he get hired as QB coach, assistant HC for the Dolphins last off season and took a leave of absence for some reason. Although he remained as a consultant.
  3. This might actually be a good move for them! A lot depends on who he chooses as his coordinators.
  4. I didn't want him either because of his lousy 3 cone drill and he could only one one route... Lots of teams got this one wrong, so I don't feel so bad.
  5. The Bills were up 13-0 at halftime... so why in the world would you ask Allen to throw 48 times in that game? This with giving Devin Singletary only 13 carries all game with a 4.8 YPC avg. The smart move on offense would have been to start running the ball the entire second half, run the clock and play keep away. What the Bills did on offense in the second half was about as brainy as having Brian Daboll get some carries and asking Frank Gore to run the ball with 7 runs for 1 yard. There is only one guy I pin this loss on!
  6. Btw that trick play with a throw from Brown to Allen for a TD is nothing new as Jim Kelly probably told him about it. The Bills ran that same play to the same side in the late 80's with RB Rob Riddick throwing to Kelly. It didn't go for a TD but it did go for a big gain. Trick plays are all well and good, fun to watch but they don't usually win games. What does win games is a formula to build a dominant running attack like the one that the Titans used against the Patriots in New England, knocking them out of the playoffs. A formula to build a passing game like the Patriots have to move the chains down the field to reach the red zone and score. What Brian Daboll builds is too complex and just not good enough to sustain drives. The offensive line has far to many penalties which is a lack of discipline. Players missing blocks or blocking the wrong guy. I like Frank Gore but he was more or less useless in that playoff game besides one run for 14 yards. Gore went 8 carries for 22 yards and take away that one run and it was 7 carries for one yard! Singletary with only 13 carries for 58 yards a 4.8 ypc avg was criminal. Why wait until the last regular season game and a playoff game to get Duke Williams involved? 48 Throws for Josh, Singletary 7 targets, 6 rec for 76 yards John Brown, 8 targets, 4 rec for 50 yards Duke Williams, 10 targets, 4 rec for 49 yards Cole Beasley, 5 targets, 4 rec for 44 yards Isaiah McKenzie, 5 targets, 4 rec for 23 yards Brutal down the stretch is about right. If the Bills worked the run game against the Ravens, Patriots like they did against the Steelers, Cowboys they would have beaten them along with the NY Jets to take the division. I'm hoping that some team steps up and hires Daboll away as HC. If not, this jackass of an OC will probably ruin him.
  7. Winning games as a defensive team? They were never the 85 Bears or 2000 Ravens, 1976 Steel curtain, 1972 no name Miami defense. The 2013 Seattle legion of Boom. I was at a game in 1987, Nov 29th to be exact in which the Bills played the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins offense didn't cross the 50 yard line until late in the 4th when they benched Dan Marino and put in Don Strock, who promptly drove down the field to the end zone where the phins turned the ball over. Final score, Buffalo 27, Miami 0. After this game I went and bought season tickets. That year the Bills defense was 12th overall. The offense with Ronnie Harmon, Rob Riddick, Kelly and Reed. This was the year they drafted Shane Conlan. the Bills ended that season 7-9. The offense was 24th, 16th. In 1988 is what you are thinking of where the defense was 3rd in points, 4th in yards, while the offense was 14th and 12th. That year ended in the AFC Championship game in Cincy. Thurman Thomas was drafted in 88. So, 87, 88 the defense was better stat wise. Bills fans did nickname the Bills defense the "Blizzard defense". In 1989 the Bills defense was 14th in points allowed, 11th in yards. However, the offense 3rd in points, 5th in yards. That season ended in Cleveland in a wildcard game. Don Beebe was drafted in 89. Lofton was there for the 89 season. The Bills offense pulled to the forefront stat wise during the 89 season and never looked back. The offense, was never the icing on the cake as Jim Kelly was the main feature of that team since arriving in 1986. Bills fans went nuts and the stadium started selling out once he was signed and came to Buffalo. While the 88 defense was better stat wise, it was Kelly's arm and Thurman running that got them to 12-4.
  8. I disagree with this. In 1990 the Bills had most prolific offense in the league #1 in points scored and with that "hurry up" "run and shoot offense" nobody could keep up with them. #3 in passing TD's, #2 in rushing TD's. Going into that super bowl they were early +15 point favorites against the NY Giants. While the defense was good they were #6 points allowed, #8 in yards allowed and most notably weak up the middle against the run.(see NY Giants SB) What made that defense work was that the offense would get the lead and then let Bruce Smith, Biscuit loose in pass rushing. Perhaps you missed that AFC playoff game against Miami in Buffalo 44-34. After this game Dolphins players were heard saying, "i can't believe we scored 34 points and lost". Championship game against the Raiders, 51-3.
  9. Ahh, thanks. Didn't realize I was dealing with one of them.
  10. Go back and read that first half thread for Buffalo, Texans. Many, many Bills fans were calling him a hero. Out of four first half drives for the Bills TD, punt, FG, FG. You just explained why Josh Allen isn't the problem. That trick play was the only TD play for the Bills. Why can't this OC get the run game going well enough to carry the offense. Why doesn't the passing offense work? Why can't this team make screen plays work? Your ragging on the Bills QB and yet he was the teams leading rusher with 9 rushes for 92 yards a 10.2 YPC avg. Allen also had one receiving TD. What you just don't get is that the Bills current offensive coordinator has been with four NFL teams with multiple QBs and they all have played poorly. Dabolls passing offenses have all been in the upper 20's, 30's. None have been good.
  11. basically yes, everyone else turned the job down Chan Gailey also fits into this category, only perhaps worse. In the 2010 off season Buddy Nix was hired as GM. Russ Brandon let it slip to the media that the Bills were willing to pay their next head coach 10 million per. This got the Bills interviews with both Bill Cowher and Mike Shanahan. Even though Shanny had already agreed to a contract with the Redskins he wanted to listen to what Buffalo offered. Naturally after the Interviews that amount of money was never offered to anyone. Once that word got out most everyone who had asked for an interview were no longer interested in the job. Even assistant coaches that were called were now declining interviews. Buddy Nix wanted to hire Marty Schottenheimer and Ralph Wilson said no. In all probability because he wouldn't be a puppet figure as HC and wouldn't let Wilson micromanage him like he did with others recently. It was known that Dick Jauron was on the phone to Detroit daily during the season. After this Buddy Nix was getting desperate to find someone. Bill Cowher had stated in his interview that he would hire Gailey as his OC. At that time Gailey was out of the NFL as he was fired from the Chiefs as their OC two years previous. So, the Bills hire Gailey and promote him to head coach. Talk about a reach, in his 3 seasons in Buffalo as HC he never got better then 6-10. Some bills fans still love the guy...dunno why either. He had his choice between Fitz, Trent Edwards and Brian Brohm and chose Edwards. Gailey was lucky that Fitz was even on the roster or the team would have been worse than 6-10, much worse!
  12. Just in: #Browns will not conduct any head coach interviews today Probably watched the Bills-Texans game... I hope he gets the job because everyone else turns them down.
  13. Wrong! Barkley has had a 60% completion percentage or darn near until he plays in Daboll's offense. Now its 52.9%. Daboll and his craptastic scheme did that to him. Josh Allen was the hero after the first half 13-0 and suddenly the Bills forgot how to run the ball in the second half. Frank Gore went 8 for 22 yards a 2.5 avg.with a 14 yard run, take away that 14 yard run and 7 times he ran for 1 yard! Totally stupid to lose that way and it falls on the coaches. The Texans asked Watson to throw only 25 times while running it 33 times. Reverse that with Buffalo and the Bills win!
  14. You know you're right. This loss is on McD! If he blames the QB for trying to do too much while allowing the OC call 48 passes a game. They both should be fired. Make Leslie Frazier the HC and promote Ken Dorsey to OC or hire Pat Schumer to OC. Watching the Titans do to the Patriots what I had been hoping the Bills would do to them leaves me asking why could the Bills do this?
  15. Its not just on Allen as Barkley has looked bad in Brian Daboll's overly complicated passing offense too. In fact, every offense this man has been in charge of the passing offense is in the 20's or 30's regardless of who the QB is... The NE Patriots had the #1 defense and #2 against the pass. #1 in TD passes allowed and #1 in INTs. So what did Tennessee do to beat them? 40 rushes-16 passes. Yea, Tannehill was 9 of 16 for 76 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Meanwhile, RB Derrick Henry 34 rushes for 182 yards, 1 TD. IN NEW ENGLAND!
  16. This is exactly right! if this was McDs idea to throw that much perhaps he needs to go. Allen throwing 48 times a game is moronic. That is what you see losing teams do once they are behind in a game. Not when you have a 13 point half time lead Frank Gore a 8 carries for 22 yards 2.8 ypc avg and a 14 yard run the longest. Now take away that one 14 yard run and its 7 carries for 7 yards, a 1.0 ypc avg. This loss is all on the coaching staff IMO.
  17. The entire decade of the 70s they failed to beat the Miami Dolphins once as Don Shula owned Buffalo! Chuck Knox changed that and then the Bills owner lets him walk because he didn't want to give him a raise! Four super bowl losses only to see arguably the greatest GM of his time who built a SB team in Buffalo leave because the owner was such a notoriously cantankerous, frugal team owner. You want to know frustration...be a Bills fan from the 70's to late 80's and again from the 2000's to 2018. All those years from the 60's championships to the late 80's. Then watching Tom Brady and Bill Belichick own the Buffalo Bills for almost 20 years has been the epitome of frustration. These years since the 2017 season are growing pains as usually no team goes from bottom of the division in one season. It usually takes years to build a super bowl contender. Jim Kelly's first season in Buffalo was a 1986 4-12 loser with the HC fired and replaced. The next full season under Marv Levy / Kelly was a 7-8 loser but we Bills fans could see the team getting better. The 1988 12-4 season the Bills went to Cincy for the AFC Championship game. In 1989 they went 9-7 and to Cleveland for a WC game. Growing pains... If you know me you know that I have been preaching to run the ball more and throw less all season. This current OC has been like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde with his game calling and when the Bills run it more than they throw it they have won games. Conversely when they throw it more they lose. The Tennessee Titans just showed the world how to beat the New England Patriots IN New England with Derrick Henry rushing for 34 carries 182 yards, 1 TD. Buffalo is a better team then the Titans as they beat them in Tennessee this season. Better defense for certain. Moron for an OC at times who refuses to run the ball in some games. This Titans win in NE is nothing new as Baltimore has done this a few times over the years by running the ball down Belichick's throat. From another thread. "If you go back and look over what has won games on offense for the Bills the latter half of this season. Its when they have a balanced offensive attack or run more often and pass less. That Steelers game, Buffalo 38 rushes, 25 passes =win! That Cowboys game, Buffalo 34 rushes, 25 passes = win! That Denver game, Buffalo 47 rushes, 25 passes = win! That Redskins game, Buffalo 39 rushes, 20 passes =win! Conversely, That Cleveland Game, Buffalo 20 rushes, 41 passes = loss That Baltimore game, Buffalo 23 rushes, 49 passes=loss That New England game, Buffalo 23 rushes, 26 passes=loss That Texans game, Buffalo 30 rushes, 48 passes=loss Josh Allen had 9 carries for 92 yards a 10.2 YPC avg and 1 receiving TD. Notice the trend here when Buffalo runs the ball more then they throw it, they win! When they pass more it puts more pressure on that young QB to carry the game and they lose." Take solace in knowing that the Bills now have a GM that might be as good or even better then ex Bills GM Bill Polian. The Bills now have owners who don't need the team to make a profit to support themselves and want to win above all else. This is a first time head coach and first time GM who will make mistakes as they go as they are both learning. I think the 2020 Buffalo Bills will be a better team after this years draft and free agency. My biggest hope is Bills OC Brian Daboll takes a job as HC elsewhere or is fired because he stinks and will end up ruining Josh Allen. Asking Allen to throw 48 times was moronic as was asking Singletary to rush only 13 times. Why was Frank Gore in the game with 8 runs for 22 yards yards a 2.8 YPC avg, with 14 yards the longest and do the math. Take away that one 14 yard run, 7 carries for 7 yards = 1.0 YPC avg. The Bills offensive line should get better. The Bills receiving corps should get better. Look forward to 2020, its all we can do...BTW, The Patriots dynasty might finally be over!!!! Good times ahead!
  18. One of my favorite Bills players, dedicated, unselfish veteran presence in that locker room.
  19. This would make this Bills fan very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd wait to see if he gets hired by Cleveland first. If not, i'd fire his Dumbell arse right after... I don't want that clown anywhere near Allen after this season.
  20. The Texans were 25th in rushing yards allowed too. If you go back and look over what has won games on offense for the Bills the latter half of this season. When they pass more it puts more pressure on that young QB to carry the game and they lose. Either this Bills OC doesn't know how to make the run game work so he forces the young, inexperienced QB carry the offense. Or he is attempting to show the world how great an offensive mind he is by forcing the pass game work no matter what. The offensive pass protections break down and the OC has no answer. the receivers have difficulty getting open and the Bills OC has no answer. Lot of Bills fans want to pile on the QB and yet he simply doesn't have enough playing experience to throw 48 times in a playoff game.
  21. I know a lot of Bills fans are saying that this offense is reflecting McD. It really isn't, would McD ask Allen to throw it 46 times? If it were up to McD all the team would do is run the ball.
  22. Daboll asking Josh Allen to throw 46 times was utterly moronic! Singletary only 13 rushes for 58 yards a 4.8 yard per carry average was utterly moronic. Meanwhile giving Frank Gore 8 rushes for 22 yards a 2.8 yard per carry average. Why is he even in the game? Needless to say Josh Allen led the team in rushing with 9 rushes for 92 yards a receiving TD. All you fans out there bitching about Allen, take him out of the game and you have no offense at all.
  23. There is just no way that this offense should have been asking Josh Allen to throw 46 times...no freaking way! and Singletary with only 13 rushes. This game was the Mr Hyde side of Brian Daboll and he can throw in some trick plays now and again but he can't figure out how to get a solid run game working. Or get the pass plays with proper protections working. There was a thread of Daboll getting an interview with the Browns and half of the Bills fans crying about it because they love the guy...I just don't understand why that is. Or why he should even remain on this coaching staff.
  24. Championship defense for most of the game with a 50 cent play caller will get you beaten every time. Lord I hope Cleveland hires that jackass
