  1. Trading up two firsts for a RB is something Nix might do and even Whaley would only do that for a WR.
  2. What that senior bowl showed was his performance with quality players around him that actually blocked on the line and caught balls. What a lot of the scouting reports don't say is how bad his offensive line was last year and they struggled to make a block. What they also don't say is when the QB would hit the receivers in the hands and they would drop the balls again and again. You know, like Zay Jones did this year. When you have a QB who plays on a really bad team it's very difficult to properly evaluate his overall talent. The QB learns to not trust your receivers or the blocking. The simple fact was he was running for his life most of last year. Think back to 2010 Ryan Fitzpatrick's was literally running for his life the first five games and they lost the first eight games while finishing the season 4-12 Partway through that season Bills GM Buddy Nix pulled Erik Pears, Kraig Urbik off the waiver wire and they came in and improved that O line a great deal. That was the year that Nix signed Cornell green to a three year, 9 mill dollar contract in the offseason to play RT and he lasted a who six games in 2010 before cutting him outright. At least Nix was able to fix the line during the season. Then Fitz had WR Stevie Johnson who caught about 58.2% of the balls thrown to him that year. That's 141 targets, 82 receptions! Just saying, we Bills fans have a first-hand knowledge of what it's like to see a QB play on a really bad team. Before Bills fans declare him a bust because of a low completion percentage let's see how he does at the combine and his pro day. I didn't like him at first either, then I started watching his games and realized just how bad that team was he played on in 2017.
  3. I have no idea where you guys get these bizarre QB comparisons from? As we get close to the combine and pro days we will see more factual scouting on all these QB's and we will all get a better understanding of their rankings. Right now I see Allen as a top-four pick and perhaps even going #1 overall to Cleveland just from his play in the senior bowl as that play disproved a lot of the negative reports on him. Watch it! .
  4. Relax guys, Mel Kiper has Allen going #1 overall to the Browns. Todd McShay has the top 4 QBs going in the top six in this draft and states he think the top four will all be good NFL starters. Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, Allen. So, unless the Bills can move up into the top four, #3 Colts, #4 Browns they will miss out on one of those top four guys because if they don't trade up the QB needy Broncos are sitting at #5 and the NY Jets at #6. EDIT, Oh BTW Arizona is also looking to draft a QB at the #15 spot so perhaps the Bills FO thinks one of those top four will fall past The Browns, The Giants, The Broncos, The Jets, and Buffalo moves up to beat out The Cardinals. Get ready for Mason Rudolph or Lamar Jackson and if those are the choices at 21,22 I'd say wait until round two and draft luke Faulk or later for Mike White.
  5. And what happens in the NFL with a bad throw? It's usually intercepted! For every great throw, the kid makes he also makes two, three bad throws. Think Geno Smith, https://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2013/3/26/4150036/geno-smith-2013-nfl-draft-scouting-report I would rather keep Tyrod who may not throw as much but he will protect the ball and turn the ball over.
  6. You must have missed Allen's performance in the senior bowl in which he threw with the touch into small windows in his second series. Probably this is what moved him to #1 in Mel Kiper's draft. The kid reminds me of Big Ben in the way he sheds sackers. He may go #1 overall.
  7. It would indeed. I just think that moving up to the #2 spot would be cost prohibitive. Does that make sense? Let's just say for the sake of argument that because the Bills own picks later in the first round than usual @21, 22. That they will need extra ammunition to make that trade up to #2 overall. I would think that both this years #1s and next years #1 and say Glenn at LT and it might even take more than this with extra #2s. That is four to six conceivable starters for one player and almost immediately kills the chance to build through the draft this year as most 30% of all starters are obtained in the first round. Then 30% were taken in the second or third round. Roughly 26% are taken in rounds four through seven. So, most players selected after the third round have a marginal chance to even make it in the NFL. This team has far, far too many holes in the roster to give up that many prospective starters for a QB who may or may not ever become that elite franchise QB. Recently Mike Mayock listed Josh Rosen as his third best QB in this year's draft. (just sayin) This may change as we move towards the combine and pro days. Then, should the Bills keep TT or sign a better bridge QB or even Kirk Cousins they would be free to use all those first, second and later picks on players to help the team in 2018. Plus, they could trade Glenn, TT for more picks to further enhance this year's draft class. This would be what I would rather see them do. Needs, QB, WR, DT or two, LB or two, CB. This team has more needs than just a QB and I'm not sold on Rosen as being an elite NFL QB just yet.
  8. I'm not offended at all, so no apology needed. I was thinking of a different article I had read from about his stats from 2015-2017 and should have simply stated career. The rest was quoted from an article I didn't write. When attempting to make that post with all the drives this morning for some reason it wouldn't let me add that last line so I edited right away. Which, apparently wasn't fast enough.
  9. I edited. You can now go back to being part of the anal stat police

  11. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/gwd_career.htm If you look at the team the guy has been on the last three years with a bad offensive line, no real rushing attack you have to start to think the man is doing it mostly by himself! Then, you would think that since he lost his brilliant OC in Sean McVey (in which Cousins threw for almost five thousand yards in 2016) to the Rams that Cousins will now fall on his face with ex-backup QB/ QB coach in Matt Cavanaugh as his new first time OC. Instead, Captain Kirk throws for over four thousand yards, 27 TDs, 13 INTs. I'd say Kirk Cousins is in rare company as a top ten NFL QB (or better) and did so on a mostly bad team. Give the man a decent rushing attack, defense and you have a super bowl contender along with Buffalo finally being a solid contender for the AFC East! Why not pay the guy 25 mill or more per as the Bills GM stated he would build through the draft and in signing him they could do just that with those two 1sts, two 2nds and that third. That's five probable starters from the draft this year!
  12. Mel Kiper has him ranked #1 overall after his performance at the senior bowl.
  13. Like Mike Mayock stated he watched him make an amazing throw only to follow it up with a few bad throws...then make another amazing throw. He is the not careful with the ball Tyrod Taylor. If the Bills want another running QB and allow me to list his weakness, 6'3'' 200lbs. He could get killed in the NFL WEAKNESSES Carries spindly legs and a thin base. Slightly built for punishing hits he takes from pocket and as a runner. Must learn to slide. Lackadaisical in setup. Throws with excessively narrow base and stiff front side. Flips it rather than throws it. Makes targets work too hard. Sails throws that can end up in hands of a safety. At times, hesitates to challenge safeties in the seam. Low release point leads to tipped passes. Typically gets through reads 1 and 2 before halting progressions. Pocket awareness has room for improvement. Move accuracy on rollouts and scrambles is poor. Highly inaccurate with throws on the move throughout the 2017 season. Underthrown deep balls allow cornerbacks to play the ball. Lacks touch over the heads of middle linebackers into intermediate pockets. Turnover total still too high. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/lamar-jackson?id=2560053
  14. It was noted by reporters who would interview the Denver receivers after games as to why they had little X's all over their chests? They stated it was because Elway's arm is so strong and he throws such a fastball. On a side note, the NY Yankees selected Elway in the second round of 1981 MLB draft and HoFer Tony Gwynn was taken six picks later. George Steinbrenner stated that he thought Elway could be another Mickey Mantle. They gave Elway a $140k bonus which was more than they gave their first-round pick. Shifting gears again here. I think all this talk of Rosen is just smoke as I just don't see this GM/McD moving up to the #2 spot and giving up perhaps three firsts and/or Glenn for an unknown at QB when the team has so many holes on the current roster to fill. It simply doesn't fit their respective DNA when Beane stated he will build through the draft. Giving up all those picks for a QB who may or may not become a solid starter could be a regime killer. Think Ryan Leaf, RG3, JaMarcus Russell, Vince Young, David Carr, Jake Locker et al.
  15. You call a QB that has had eight 4th quarter comebacks to win games since 2015 (Tyrod Taylor has had three from (2011-2017) Plus he has had twelve game-winning drives (Tyrod has had 5 since 2011) average? Allow me to enlighten... "Since becoming Washington’s starting quarterback in 2015, Cousins has completed 1,034 of 1,525 attempts (67.8 percent) for 12,121 yards, 73 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions. His passer rating of 99.7 over that span ranks fifth among 22 quarterbacks with at least 1,000 pass attempts. Only two future Hall of Famers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees, and the 2016 MVP, Matt Ryan, have a higher total passer rating since 2015." To those who say Cousins wouldn't be a good fit behind the Bills offensive line... "The offensive line, held together with duct tape and glue, ranks 29th this season for pass-blocking ability, per Pro Football Focus, and has seen Cousins pressured on 36.6 percent of his drop-backs in 2017, the highest rate during his three-year run. Yet his passer rating under pressure this season is 81.6, a career high and the sixth-highest in 2017." "The high-level performance for Cousins isn’t the result of conservative passes, either. His 42.5 percent completion rate on deep throws, those traveling 20 or more yards in the air, ranks fifth among 27 quarterbacks attempting at least 100 deep throws over the past three years. His passer rating (109.0) on these attempts is second only to Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fancy-stats/wp/2017/11/28/kirk-cousins-has-a-case-to-be-the-highest-paid-quarterback-in-the-nfl/?utm_term=.ef38db47677b Don't compare a college player who hasn't yet proven a thing in the NFL to a QB who might look average because he has been on a bad team with a crappy run game (24th in rushing attempts, 27th in rushing yards), a crappy defense (27th in points allowed, 24th in yards allowed) Cousins has been carrying that team, coaching staff.
  16. While this is all true, it was a rubber matt that ended Kevin Kolb's NFL career. NFL players are bigger, stronger and more importantly much, much faster. It's not just the concussions that have me worried about Allen as much as his recurring shoulder injuries and his struggles with free rushers. Makes risky decisions under pressure, throws off his back foot when hurried. Makes dangerous throwaways while being sacked instead of holding the ball. When he takes hits he is prone to get knocked out of a game. Other than all that a really good college football QB. My personal opinion is that the Bills have far too many holes on the roster to give up so much for a QB with serious questions. I prefer the Bills back up the Brinks truck for Cousins and spend all those draft picks on filling those holes.
  17. While I agree with staying put at 21, 22 or perhaps trading up to the 12 spot should a top-four guy fall. While not giving up the entire farm for a QB who may turn out to be Ryan Leaf (Rosen) or stay put and draft a Lamar Jackson who needs a ton of pocket passing development (RG3). I would prefer to see the team sign Cousins or a lesser long-term answer at QB and use those three early draft picks on players to fill the holes on the current roster. More specifically I was asking why Jackson? Who is another running QB vs the pocket passers of Allen, Rudolph, Mayfield? Plus, he is 6'3'' 205 lbs which is slight for the NFL as even RG3 weighed 223. At this point, I would rather not see this team draft another running QB who at this time would NOT be an upgrade to TT as Jackson has accuracy, Mechanics issues and needs a bunch of developmental time.
  18. I think that is exactly the reason they hired QB guru Pat Shurmur, to find out if Eli is done or not. Looking back at the start of the 2017 season when the roster wasn't decimated by injuries and he had ODB, Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram all healthy receiving. The team still started out 0-5. Eli looked like he has lost a step. Granted at the end of the 2017 season the Giants had 31 players on IR. They sure didn't start out with that many injuries and they stunk it up just the same. Like I said, I do think they are morons should they pass on on a QB with that #2 pick (Rosen) only to find they will need to replace Eli in three years or less. Then perhaps they will need to give up three first-round picks to get a QB who may or may not develop into a franchise QB. Kinda foolish when they are sitting in the catbird's seat this year.
  19. THIS! Cousins has done something Tyrod dreams about and that is 11 game winning drives in the 4th quarter since 2015. He is also in the top 5 in completion percentage and passing yards since 2015. Signing Cousins for 30 mill per would limit the free agent deals but this regime has stated they want to build thru the draft and with signing Cousins they could do just that with two firsts, two seconds and a third all on players to make this team better this year! "IF" the Bills are smart enough to sign Cousins it makes them an instant serious division rival for the Patriots and a super bowl contender. Why even think about drafting a "maybe" at QB who may or may not develop into a franchise QB when you have one sitting right there. This is McDs Peyton Manning moment!
  20. The only way this might work is if the NY Giants or Cleveland fall in love with Allen or Mayfield. Then the Bills could trade up with the Colts at #3 or the Browns at #4. That is if the Giants don't pick Rosen.
  21. The NY Giants FO are morons if they trade away that #2 pick and don't take Rosen themselves. So, let's say they wait until next season or the year after to go for a top QB. Then they will need to give up the farm for a player sitting right there for them. I don't see the Giants being this foolish and knowing Eli is so near the end of his career.
  22. Please explain the love for another running QB who needs a bunch of developmental time to become an elite NFL pocket passer. I've seen a bunch of draft sites that list him as this years 6th best QB prospect and is some mock drafts he isn't even listed as a first-round pick. RG3 anyone? I'm hoping the Bills get one of the top three or four in this years QB class.
  23. I doubt that Cousins will hold the ball as long as Tyrod Taylor did in 2017 at 3.01 seconds on average. As for the line, all the Bills need to do is finally upgrade that right tackle position and they will instantly improve the lines entire grade. They could use a new RG and added depth all over the line. Dunno why Bills fans are so enamored with Peterman who was a 5th round pick... anyone else recall Brian Brohm? He was a second-round pick and he did squat.
