2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
I'm a big Dupre fan. Would fit that Goodwin profile they seem to want really well. If the league wants to let him drop closer to Day 3 because of his production, even better. -
In 2015, he had the worst pass protecting line in the entire NFL and dialled up a league-high number of seven-step drops. Norv deserves every last bit of criticism he's been getting for what that offense has become. I still believe that Norv is a good offensive mind but his failure to adapt to his personnel was a huge part of him being shown the door.

I thought about seeking treatment for PTSD after watching Brandon Harris over the summer. He was abysmal. Dural and Dupre deserve so much better than the mess they find themselves in. -

Didn't watch the game but it's always the downside of being as aggressive as he is. When it works, it's going to be spectacular. Lamp isn't flashy but he's reliable. Think he got injured a while back, not kept up with his progress. Every site is projecting him inside but he sure looks capable at left tackle to me. Every year, there's always one. Brandon Scherff, Ali Marpet, Cody Whitehair. -

Just catching up with Alabama LT Cam Robinson. I've seen this story before; Greg Robinson. A handful of games left to convince me that he's not a 3rd round talent. Like with Robinson, there's a Jake Matthews in this class. Forrest Lamp of Western Kentucky. Don't overthink it. Take the technician. -

I've spoke to someone that's coached at the JUCO level in California about this before. There's basically two really expensive kicking camps out there, a good 75% or so of scholarships get offered to the kids who attend them. Not always about talent but affluence. It's why the punting camp that got set up in Australia is doing good work. Teams are too lazy to actively scout and recruit specialists for the most part. -

Nerve damage in his throwing shoulder. Mora shied away from saying it but, if true, death sentence for his prospects. -
You're not kidding. My gran taught me to knit when I was a kid. It's as good as meditation.

Gilmore "was" reportedly available for trade
Blokestradamus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love the guy to bits. We've had a few interactions with him at Bills Wire this year, he's genuinely as lovely a person as you could hope to meet. I would love to see someone give him a hefty percentage of guaranteed money for a couple of years, he's earned it. I just want to unleash Shaq next year after a few games worth of experience under his belt. -

Nothing wrong with depth but, if Lorenzo is coming off a 15-sack year, what kind of price tag are we talking here? He's rightfully going to want some security, his NFL career has netted him $9m so far and he'll be in prime earning territory for the first time in his life. I think, more than anything, he's proof that Rex can make production happen. A fair amount of his production is schemed, I'm not entirely sure you can't find a crafty vet elsewhere to do a similar job as a pass rusher. I'll be honest, his play against the run has been far more impressive and a bigger reason for wanting to keep him around. Bottom line, I don't think he's a wise investment once the price tag starts to rise. -
I want to make it clear that I actually liked the pick. Because of all the positives you pointed out earlier, if he pans out with accuracy and conceptual understanding, his ceiling is through the roof. If you're taking a long shot, I'm taking a guy like Cardale over a Kevin Hogan or a Cody Kessler. I do subscribe to the idea that you can do certain things to aid the throwing process. Completely different sport but playing cricket as a kid, I had to change my bowling action slightly a few times due to injury. Where I ended up with my action actually made me more accurate and efficient. I'm not sure the principle applies 100% to football but I'm definitely happy to consider it a possibility. I said pre-draft that I felt his inexperience and lack of exposure to different defenses and schemes hampered him as a prospect. There's areas that he can grow but I think it's wise to enter this process with zero expectation. The NFL doesn't guarantee progression. I just hope he takes his craft seriously, otherwise he's got no chance.

I'm already unpopular as it is today so why not double down and make myself the devil? Flat out wouldn't pay Lorenzo Alexander anything in the offseason. He'lll be 34 in May and we have Shaq Lawson waiting in the wings. I love the guy and I hope he gets a big payday somewhere, guys like him deserve to see more than the typical ST salary. I just wouldn't be the one to pay it. Zach, I'll pay that guy on the proviso that Ragland is recovering well and will take Preston's spot eventually. -
Making plays is all well and good. I gave the kid credit for that run in 2014. I was blown away by him leading OSU the way he did. Ticks the boxes for leadership and confidence. I just think that he's already proven that he's a fundamentally inaccurate passer, especially on the type of routes that he's expected to be good/great at in the NFL. He's got the plus points of being really big, durable with a cannon for an arm. I just don't see an NFL QB in there in the slightest. What they want to cultivate with him, I'm not sure he has to work with already. When you lack basic accuracy, it's hard to be an NFL quarterback. It's that simple.

Spell it out for me. I know what you bolded, I'm just at a loss why you asked if I was being sarcastic.
-
I'm not entirely sure what you've found issue with.
-
Based on his college tape, I'd put the odds at 5% I think he'll get his chance but, with the combination of his skill set and the coaching we have at our disposal, I really doubt the kid is going to amount to anything.

If someone I didn't know told me to kill myself because I wasn't doing my job to their level of satisfaction, I might let it get in my head too. Nothing he said about his critics was wrong. Some of them crossed the line in recent days. -
Anyone else completely fed up with the Dareus hate?
Blokestradamus replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pretty much fed up with fan reaction to everything by now. Some really treat it like football is a life and death matter. Marcell is a grown man, he can do whatever he likes. I'd prefer him to make better choices in life but I don't hate him. Hell, I don't even dislike him for it. I fear I'm becoming increasingly rare in that I just want to see guys like him pick a smarter path for their own wellbeing. Nothing to do with availability for a football game. Very few things that I could hate a player for. Not going to knock a guy for being unfit to work at times, I've done likewise. -
Looks Like Jared Goff Time in LA
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I have a guy as high on my board as I had Goff and he's not playing, it makes me wonder if I screwed up my assessment. From what I've heard, it sounds like the biggest issue was picking up the new verbiage. Having heard Goff talk football before, he didn't strike me as a guy with bad recall. It leaves you wondering if his tutors might be failing him. With Jeff Fisher at the helm, I wouldn't rule it out. Frustrating that he's not playing but it might be a godsend for Jared in the long run. Need a heavy investment at OL next season. -
I found him a really tough guy to evaluate. Mainly because that offense had zero structure to it. The physical talent was always evident but, between the scheme and the drops, I never felt convinced on him. Ended up with a late 1st so I didn't hate him. I'll be honest. That Duke game really turned me off him for a long while. When the voice of reason in your life is Johnny Fireball, you might be !@#$ed up
