I remember taking a long time coming round on him in the draft process. Thought he was too aggressive, pushed off too much. I should've just remembered that OPI doesn't actually exist OPI called 1.63 times a game. DPI called 4.53 times per game. Defensive holding called 2.75 times per game. Just from stats this year. Just get me an angry catch point bastard and be done with it, Doug.

First Cleveland, Now the Cubs.....
Blokestradamus replied to chaccof's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I started watching the game last night just because nothing else was on. I'm not a baseball guy, I've probably watched no more than 2-3 innings at once. I was absolutely captivated, I was drawn in by the sheer theatre of what it would mean to both sides if they won. I stuck around until the rain delay and fell asleep. Woke up again to see the final out. We're talking like 4am here when the rain came. Just watching the celebrations, I started to imagine what a Super Bowl or a Stanley Cup would mean to Buffalo. If ever a city deserved that kind of success, I think it's Buffalo. As section122 said, something like a Bills/Vikings SB would just be the epitome of romance in sport. Sometimes I think the stars align to make something as meaningless as sports become the centre of the universe, even just for a night. -

Positional Needs For DraftTek - Astro

I took a look at Kyle for Bills Wire. I wanted to shine a light on him. It kinda turned into a love letter. I've said it before but Kyle Williams is good for the soul. Watching him last night actually made me feel better about the world. -
Nick Foles starting for Chiefs vs Jags

Sometimes, this is a sketchy as **** business. Smith wasn't concussed when he was, carried on playing, took another bang to the head, still wasn't concussed but left the game again. -
I think Derrik is a bit like me when it comes to focusing on players. Doesn't cover everyone or everything, just when he feels passionately pro or anti something. He did one on Tyrod in the offseason that I posted here. He's a smart kid, I think he's still only 18-19 years old too.
-
I just popped in this thread to post that link. From a not-Derek or Derrick but Derrik too, very approprate for the thread.

As a Jerick McKinnon PPR owner, I am up for anything that might boost his targets. No, I'm not at all annoyed because I lost last week to that Asiata catch late in the game.
-
He's not been one to adapt to the issues the offense has. Probably feels like he can't play his style of football when the OL is putting the QB under pressure at the top of his drop every other play. I just hope it's not a health thing.

Projecting the stretch run...
Blokestradamus replied to Samwell Tarly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't do what Washington did with Green. Asking a corner to play him one-on-one is absolutely reckless. Just got to concede defeat against the greats and bracket him with a safety every damn play. I think Green plays majority right side so Darby + TBD safety on Green, Gilmore on LaFell, NRC on Boyd. -
Gilmore "was" reportedly available for trade

Kinda difficult to say that when the bloke the other side has given up three times as many touchdowns this year. And more receptions, seen more targets, and in one less game. -
Projecting the stretch run...

We'll end up spending the entire offseason performing autopsies on the Ravens, Jets and Dolphins games. I'm honestly not frightened by anyone left on the schedule. Seattle on the road is tough, especially with a depleted offense. Outside of that, there's a case to be made that every game is a 50-50 game. Just a case of geting healthy through the bye and fixing some of the issues that have plagued us so far. -
The talk of process is less about mechanics as it is the issue with reads that Benoit brings up. Staying with bad ones too long, getting off good ones too quickly. I know it's a tough thing to get right every time but I think it's what differentiates good from great. Hopefully for Derek, it'll come with experience. I probably should make the distinction between mental and physical/technical process. My top-10 2014 QBs: 1) Teddy 2) Mettenberger (shut up, I know the mistake I made there ) 3) Carr 4) Murray 5) Bortles 6) Garoppolo 7) Manziel (would've been UDFA if I had actually dug into his history) 8) Keith Wenning 9) McCarron 10) The legend of Wyoming himself, Brett Smith
-
It's nice to see that Andy Benoit has some similar philosophies as I do. I've mentioned it with Jordan Mills before; bad process will eventually lead to bad results. I'm not sold on Carr as a franchise QB but I know a few Raider fans who are absolutely certain he is. He's certainly been a better pro than I anticipated after watching him at Fresno.

Character and Injury Arbitrage
Blokestradamus replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a strategy I'm very comfortable with. Once you get past the top 3 rounds, swing for the fences. The chances of hitting on a quality starter goes down significantly from that point so why not take a shot on a flawed individual and hope that you can help turn him around or get him through his rehab, reaping the benefits of patience with injury. Low risk in terms of draft capital, low expectation and low guaranteed money. Connor Cook was the 100th pick in 2016, $619,890 in guarantees, chump change if you have to cut ties for whatever reason. Seems like a sound strategy. -
Given today's trend of bringing guys in that have played under Rex before, I'm ready to cut Duke or Meeks and give Dawan Landry a call. He's not played in a while but he knows the D inside out.
-
Like any move they make, I hope it works out. I've been there with migraines, they're bloody horrible to deal with. I thought he played pretty well last time round before he got hurt. If he's healthy and in shape, it can't be any worse than what has taken the field recently.
-
At this point, I'd suit up Ed Reed. At least he could vocalise like Aaron does.
-
I think we just watched him walk away. Sad way for it all to end, if that's the case.

Character and Injury Arbitrage
Blokestradamus replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like with anything, it's not necessarily about the risk. It's just about taking the right ones. I'd shy away from guys like Burfict because there was a sustained level of ill-discipline that plagued him on and off the field. However, don't let yourself be swayed out of selecting someone like Dak Prescott. Really good kid, ticked a lot of boxes, ended up with a stupid DUI. I think it's pretty clear, especially looking at Bandit's list, that the Bills are willing to give out chances. A team shouldn't preclude itself from taking risks like those, it's a talent accumulation business after all. Just have to know when to cut your losses when it doesn't pan out (like they did with Karlos). With the medical side of things, I think every team is different. Denver (or a team that plays in the AFC West) likely steers clear of anyone with known sickle cell traits due to altitude. As a rule, I'd never chase a skill player up the board with an ACL injury in their history. The 49ers have tried something in recent years, taking chances on those ACL victims and, for the most part, it's not worked out. The result of "wasting" those picks has undoubtedly helped them dismantle their depth in the past couple of years. It's a really interesting discussion but I think you have to have either a trade down approach to accumulate picks or a roster that can sustain a few whiffs. Not sure it's a great strategy if you're looking to build almost from scratch with a depleted roster. -
The team took one punt on Percy before and it didn't really work. Injuries happen but they seem to happen to Percy on a pretty regular basis. He then left his status up in the air, didn't contact the team for a while and subsequently walked away. Personally, I wouldn't go back to this well again. However, from a scheme and relationship familiarity level, I understand it.
