  1. Now you're talking my language. I'm absolutely smitten with Davis, he was my summer scouting #2 WR. That acceleration - https://gfycat.com/MiserableSmoggyIrishredandwhitesetter
  2. As the guy that's compiling all of this for the BillsWire spreadsheet, it's !@#$ing annoying. I can't quite get my head around it but I think the way I explained it was right. With the trends I've noticed with their data, that seems to be the logical explanation. Back to the point of the thread, Cordy has been really good. Looked like his ankle was playing up last week, really had issues anchoring at times. Still worth every penny of that deal.
  3. One little caveat - that is due to PFF's system for awarding sacks. He and Mills jointly gave one up last week but, when they split, they don't credit either with a sack allowed. Did a similar thing when Preston/Zach sacked Brissett in Week 4, neither player got a sack credit.
  4. Ideally, you don't 'overpay' for anyone but every team is different. A team like the Cowboys have put resources into an offensive line to aid their play style. Fredericks just got paid, Tyron Smith got an 8-year deal, Martin/Collins will get paid when their time comes. Those guys are critical for what they do and will get paid accordingly. Even if not absolute value-for-money, they'll stick with what they've got and not delve into the realms of unknowns. For Rex, defense is the strong suit. Corner being the critical position. I think Gilmore is certainly within the upper echelon of corner play in the NFL. Trying to quantify exactly where he fits isn't easy but he's the clear #1 CB on this team, he's got 2 years in the system already and if any replacement for him falters, it could be damaging to the team's likelihood of future success (at least in the short term). Given all that; yeah, I pay him a hefty sum. I've said it before, paying Gilmore doesn't scare me. I know what I'm getting there.
  5. A little perspective wouldn't go amiss. Is he a top-5 corner? Probably not. Do you need to be to get paid like one? Not really. Will someone pay him if he hits the open market? Absolutely. Is he a big hole to fill? Absolutely. Janoris Jenkins has the 6th highest average cap hit for an NFL CB (not including Trumaine Johnson's tag figure) and he wasn't even the best CB on his TEAM in 2015
  6. Because the term "decent hands" does not apply to him. He's HankTime level awful.
  7. I'm still not convinced they're even watching the guy on the other side of our backfield, let alone anyone else
  8. I'm honestly dumbfounded that people think this. He had one horrific game, three decent games and three good/great games. I don't get it. How is that not enough?
  9. The $12m/year deal that Darius Slay got is fair market value for Stephon under the current circumstances. Tag being in play etc. Whether anyone likes it or not, paying Tyrod that contract still doesn't make us an offense-reliant team. We rely on the defense playing stifling football. Corner is a big part of that. The dropoff from Gilmore to most of the feasible options isn't something I want to risk.
  10. It's October. Did you expect Jerry Rice to fall into our lap?
  11. I thought he turned the corner as well. I saw that picture of where his arm was coming from a couple days ago and nearly fell off my chair. He's gone back to being laughably inefficient.
  12. No idea if he had a good relationship with Roman or not. He's the clear #3 option in Detroit and yet has more yards than Woods, Clay or Goodwin. Can't blame him for wanting to go pass-happy. I'm normally against one year rental acquisitions but he just made so much sense. With quite a young group, a bit of veteran experience would've been nice to have around too.
  13. Kinda similar assessment to EJ. Has the positives of a decent arm, frame and above-average athletic ability. Never felt he was that accurate, made poor decisions when forced to make multiple reads, didn't really anticipate. Under my current grading system, probably a 3rd round project. Can't fault them for being enamoured with him at the time. Just that the 'first round pick' label forced him into action before he could grow as a player. A shame really, he seems like a right laugh off the field.
  14. If the name of the back of the jersey said Tebow, the world would've exploded by now
  15. Speaking for myself, I wanted Anquan Boldin. Big target, competitive at the catch point, great blocker. I'm realistic that money was a bit tight and the player has to want it though.
  16. Then I guess we're both just going to look at each other with stunned disbelief
  17. You named Gilmore as a disappointment and have the audacity to ask what I'm watching?
  18. We all look at things from our own perspective. You could take 10 of us from this board and show us the same play. We probably have 3-4 different interpretations of it because of the knowledge level we have and the inherent bias we have in terms of how we evaluate. That's just the facts of how human nature works. You're not alone in coming across as potentially confrontational in defending your stance. It's honestly not a big deal to me because, for the most part, I agree with a lot of what you say. If you want to work on the way you interact with others, respect to you for that. Self-improvement is a life-long constant we should all strive for. Anyone who knows me from my BBMB days knows that I'm a much tamer version of my internet self than I used to be. It's not easy when you're passionate about something to hide it but it might do you some good in the long run to take that step back once in a while. Either way, you're alright in my books as you are.
  19. If that was all that mattered, Darby would be performing at the same level, right? 14 receptions, 254 yards, 2 TD, 2 PD in one less game. Or: 3.5 receptions per game, 63.5 yards per game, 0.5 TDs per game.
  20. Biggest surprise - Danny Crossman's ST units. I can only think of maybe 2-3 bad ST plays all season. They've been superb. Biggest disappointment - Richie Incognito. His play has really fallen off since the end of last year. He's still a solid LG but he's nowhere near as dominant as he was in 2015.
  21. Just had a look. In the 5 weeks since that Jets game, this is Gilmore's combined stat line. 5 games, 9 receptions, 128 yards, 2 INT, 5 PD 1.8 catches per game, 25.6 yards per game. I'd call that a shutdown corner.
  22. Just finished at 3:09am. 1,504 words on that !@#$ing mess of a game. So glad I'm going out tomorrow and getting drunk
  23. Go troll elsewhere. Gilmore has been lights out since that Jets debacle, you idiot.
  24. Just about to dig into the D. At 12:15 am. To subject myself to this
  25. The Bills intended to bring Ikard back to the open PS spot vacated by Manassah Garner.
