10-31: Eric Wood and Rex Ryan Media Sessions

That's assuming that he made no plays in coverage. They didn't pass 40 times at him so he must've been doing something on those other snaps. -

He was seriously very good last year. He was a bit wayward in years prior at times but 2015 seemed to be the turning point. This year? Up and down, been a bit lucky that some errors haven't been compounded by others. He had five negative plays on the day (one of which a result of miscommunication). 2 holds, unsure if the 2nd one was completely legit. Wood got called for two holds, allowing six pressures and also got away with a hands to the face penalty. Pretty sure that wins when I classed it as snap-to-snap. -

I am so on the Elf-Train. A guard-capable center, worth its weight in gold. -

I think Rob has lost his optimism entirely and has pretty much told me to start gearing towards the draft for Bills Wire. I hate evaluating safeties and we might need a couple this year. CURSE YOU JARVIS LANDRY!!!!! -

He turned down a deal that would've made him the 9th best paid CB in the league. Eric Wood is the 9th best paid center in the league. One isn't worth the theoretical value but the other one apparently is because we're already stuck with it? -

It's funny how certain players get to skate by playing badly while others get vilified. Snap-to-snap basis, Wood was the worst player on the field. I guess we just gloss over those facts when the witch hunt is afoot -

If only Eric played in a 24 shirt and had dreads. Then maybe we'd address his two hold, six hurries allowed game. -

I wonder how receptive he would be to a year extension. Spread the money out across 2017 and 2018, maybe give him a big roster bonus for 2017 so he's not losing out. Help massage that cap number down a little. The team did right by him with the extension a while ago. He took a pay cut in March as well. Might be feasible. I keep thinking he's done and he keeps proving me wrong. -

Caught my eye in the Clemson game. Not watched him closely (I will because I adore their CB Jack Tocho) but he's got a great build for the position. Kinda looks like a bulked-up version of Justin Simmons. I hope he plays like him. -
I agree. I thoroughly hated the EJ pick. My QB evaluation skills aren't exactly infallible, after all Matt Barkley was my guy I've long stated that I wouldn't have drafted a QB that year knowing what Teddy Bridgewater was capable of. A 'mortgage the future' type QB if ever I saw one. Just saying that, given the circumstances (especially with Buddy adamant that we were drafting a QB), no team takes a QB in '14 a year after taking one 16th.
-
You wouldn't happen to be cherry-picking a name because you saw him throw for 500 yards now, would you? Besides that, what team gives up on a 1st round QB after a year? There's a very good reason it rarely happens. The team would be regarded as a laughing stock.

For you QB-hungry folks. @CFBFilmRoom Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer has been very good throwing down the middle, but terrible to the right side—a really odd combination -
Packers trade for Knile Davis and then release him

@MikeGarafolo Whatever the conditions on the Knile Davis trade, they weren't met. The Packers won't give the Chiefs anything, source says. -
[Misleading Title]Gilmore Trade
Blokestradamus replied to wilsonbc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do understand it to an extent. He's not every fan's dream of the typical try-hard player. He's passive with contact and perhaps a little selfish. I can't fault him for that, it's a short career. Ideally, for some, you'd have 53 Lorenzo Alexander's. Blood and guts types that get the most out of their limited god-given gifts. He doesn't play like I'd love him to (Darby does, god bless him). I'm fine with that. He was on the wrong end of miscommunication yesterday, it happens. His actions after the catch weren't acceptable and I hope someone gave him an earful for it. I'm resigned to him leaving after the year, I just think some need to be careful what they wish for. -

Or the game where he gave up exactly zero catches vs SF. Or the Miami game where, for some inexplicable reason, he had the audacity to give up one catch for 9 yards playing off coverage vs a slant. Good games don't count -

Pats trade Jamie Collins

Get the pick earlier and apparently he's been freelancing this year. Pissed Belichick off. Love the move for the Browns though. -
We need to get away from a game manager so trade for the prototype college game manager? Makes sense to me.

As a tight end, he'll have that sort of frame/athletic ability to him as Clay did when he graduated from Tulsa. Probably a H-Back type. Honestly, he's probably a 5th-6th round RB prospect for me at the moment so no harm in trying a new position. I assume FCS transfer and he declares for the 2018 class. -
We're stuck with him for another 2 years so we'd better find more creative ways to get him consistently involved in the passing game. It doesn't help that he's got a mandatory practice day off because of the knee, it has to hurt chemistry to some degree. As a blocker, he's been as advertised. He's a very good fit for what we want to do offensively. With Watkins/Woods/McCoy/Goodwin all missing time, he should be seeing way more action than he is. I don't think the player has been the disappointment as much as how he's been utilised.

Just put "Send me money to my Venmo to buy out the rest of Stephon Gilmore's fifth-year option". You'll be a millionaire by the time you get home. -

Seen a lot of rumours that a bunch of Vols have quit on the team. Jalen Hurd among them. Sounds like Butch has lost them entirely. @nfldraftscout Rumors in Knoxville this morning that RB Jalen Hurd is leaving the team. Would have big NFL draft implications (h/t @SwainEvent) @JimmyHyams Sources: Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd told teammates last night he plans to transfer and play receiver or tight end at his new school -
At least they didn't draft a kicker in the 2nd round that's currently 20-of-27 for the year

Quality bump, my friend. I can't believe how many people overthink quality players. Just like my boy Noah Spence in Tampa.
