  1. Now Josh will try to get all 14 points back on one throw, one series. Yet, we all saw this coming. You know, "Big Ed" will have a game....blah blah. I love the optimism, but at times it leaves you reeling when reality sets in. Smoke and mirrors. Smoke and mirrors.
  2. I think the average Bills fan, after some Bourbon / Beer, have found ourselves holding a football running around the house prattling about something Bills related. There is a lot of time between now and kickoff so I speculate many laps will be run around our homes today. Go Bills!
  3. You realize we are in what, week 18/19 and Oliver has played a negligible amount of snaps at DE, right? If any? Different year, different personnel. You honestly believe McDermott and Frazier have overlooked plugging Oliver in at DE? Perhaps they were desperate last year......and while DE may be struggling this year, it is not like Oliver is lighting the world on fire pass rushing from his DT position. Finally, the only way Oliver collapses a pocket from the edge is in fact getting around it. He is not going to bull rush anyone with any arm length. Again, technique and physics limit, greatly, Oliver's ability to bull rush 1:1. Again, he is actually decent against a double team cuz he can likely squeeze in between the 2 OL. But he ain't bull rushing anyone 1 : 1....unless of course it is a RB, TE, or some type of hybrid. Just to clarify, you would take Ed over Aaron? Or you think Ed and Aaron are comparable players? I am not sure a universe exists that either of those two are even remotely considered. Also, the original point was "average" size of DT.... BTW, those are the only two career "statistics" that one could compare Oliver and Donald...anthropometry. If Oliver were fractionally as impactful as Donald, we would be so so lucky. As fate has it, he is not.
  4. Please no. First, Ed is actually quite small for a DT. In fact, during one of DaQuan Jones' first observation on becoming a Bill he expressed he was surprised how small Ed was. Not sure why anyone would put "Big" as a descriptor for Ed? Explosive, sure. Big, nope. Second, he does not have the frame or length to do anything of impact from the Edge. He actually does better bull rushing against a double team because he is fast and small so he can split the two OL. If he bull rushed 1 : 1 he would get planted on his back all day. This is Physics 101. Ed is likely about 25 pounds lighter than the average DT and about 3 inches shorter than the typical Edge along with his arm length being below average. Again, I want Ed to do well but we need to set realistic expectations.
  5. That is why they need to pump more Sinatra into the lockerroom pre-game; it truly is about Josh finding a place of "calm and confident" to either delay or mitigate being uncomfortable. I feel Sinatra made Josh feel comfortable being uncomfortable. We do not hear about it as much as last year.
  6. While it was nice to see Ed get a sack, I think we can all agree it was due to a blown assignment more than anything. Yes, statistically it counts, but it actually reinforces and gives more credence to your point on pressure. In that it took a break down for us to put evident pressure on the QB with a base rush. And for those of us critical of Ed, we all had flashes of that sack going all "Wentz" from last year.....(Addison, IIRC)....but it had that feel.
  7. I appreciate this thread as it addresses a particular discussion and simply does not echo the platitudes of frustration. To me, Lawson earned it. Once film is reviewed the Bills should determine if AJE is where he needs to be to contribute in meaningful manner, if not elevate Kingsley Jonathon. What is the harm? We need a spark and contributions; the one and done season does not afford us the chance to hope. Film won't lie.
  8. Are we sure Josh is still listening to Sinatra pre-game? If not, the Bills need to force this issue. PLAY. SINATRA. ON. LOOP. ONCE. ALLEN. ENTERS. THE. F#@$%ing BLDG. It could be that simple.
  9. Solid thread title. These are worth echoing: (1) McD's timeouts while we were on defense are nothing short of weird; hard to justify those. (2) Similarly, I thought the Phins would have been better off taking the 5 yards rather than the TO's on 2 if not 3 of those. What I have not read yet is that while the eye test tells me our DL lost the trenches today, if you look at some stats they actually played well. I was surprised that during key times and drives of the game Basham was in for Rousseau and Eli in for Oliver. That may or may not mean anything but it was notable as the DL rotations lately have been less scripted. Anywho, a win is a win, ugly or clean this is the playoffs you do not advance on statistics or prettiness, you advance on wins. Go Bills!
  10. Agreed. Davis may explode today....no concerns with him. We simply cannot afford anyone playing injured, at all. Simple as that.
  11. Sending some positive and healing vibes from my family to yours, Daggers EOD. Let's go Buffalo....Let's go Buffalo.... Go Bills!
  12. This thread is always intriguing, I was about 4 weeks too early with my Hines predictions, but glad it worked out. Today? Let's go with AJ Epenesa. Hoping he can set the edge, dominate the point of contact, and have significant impact.
  13. I know you did not comment only highlight, but I dunno, maybe it is me but unless she has been active on social media about his firing and need to get away, why are we looping her in here? Now if she has, ok I guess. But, I can imagine some on this forum will make juvenile, middle grade-esque comments about her, but I feel she is not really part of this thread? Or am I missing something? Surely Bills fans will be better, right? Ok, I am not holding my breath either.
  14. I booked mine in Nashville and Chicago....was thinking about Las Vegas but decided, nah.
  15. And if Phillips and Oliver are as injured as it appears, then it may be better to sit them and suit up Bryant and whomever else is a PS DL. Truly, the phrase "A 60% healthy Phillips/Oliver is better than a 100% healthy back up" is simply not true. Neither Phillips or Oliver are elite, yet at least Phillips has size. Their play yesterday suggests they are injured and if so we need to sit them; we need healthy (and preferably) large interior DL. Phillips lasted only, what, 19 snaps and Oliver was truly invisible - and they ran right at him. It is negligent to play someone that injured. Clearly interior DL play is a key part of keeping our linebackers clean on run plays and pressure on the QB on passing plays, if we are unsuccessful with that, then the whole notion of our defensive scheme becomes unstable.
  16. Based on the solution created by the NFL and then discussed, vetted, and ratified by the ownership yes, in fact, the Chiefs deserved the bye. That does not mean I agree with it, but last I checked the NFL and the owners did not ask me; nor anyone on this board. This is why I like this board so much, we get to present and entertain many views both normative to our own beliefs and others so far out of reach it is intriguing to wonder how someone comes up with such "curious" questions. Go Bills!
  17. Thank you for saying that part out loud.....really, this needs to be read/heard more often with average to below average play not being explained away anymore.
  18. I am confused. I was told on this board, when I state that Oliver is an average player, that Oliver is a stud, knocks the piss out of OL, and is a priority to re-sign this offseason. That, and that I have no idea what I am doing when I watch the Bills because to a select few, apparently, Oliver stands out as our premier DL consistently. All I know is that according to the eye test, I have observed him be nearly absent in the Dolphins game, todays game, among other games where his production was minimal at best. I do acknowledge he was dominating playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers against the Lions but that is about it. Can someone explain this to me; like I am in kindergarten?
  19. He has made tons of plays, according to some on this board.....but it is hard to tell cuz he is quadruple teamed all the time.
  20. Didn't you know, he is a stud and knocks the piss out of the OL......I heard it hear, frequently. From my perspective, Ed is being Ed today.
  21. So much going on in this thread, but realizing a coin toss starts the game means that a coin toss is an acceptable way to make a decision. It is goofy to think a coin toss is some how, now, unfair or "not right". Life is not "right" nor fair; it is amusing to see people complain and bicker about issues like this......particularly when no one truly knows what the processes or discussions behind the scenes were or went. The game is an entertainment activity, be entertained with all of this. There was zero chance this was going to be done "right"....and to see NFL coaches, even fans, rush to make a claim they got the most "screwed" on this, all things considered is not a good look and shows poorly on them. Go. Play. The. Game. If you are that good you win. Regardless of locale.
  22. To me the only way White/White is remotely acceptable is via Throwbacks. Beyond that White/White looks horrific. White over Blue is a really good look - also, "jinxed"? please...13 seconds is all you need to look at.
  23. Well done my friend, well done. I noticed you had asked and then to see you start this thread with your "iconic" statement is what football Sundays are all about. Go Bills!
