  1. Like I was trying to say that game doesn't really change your point, but you've done a good job providing data in you other posts so I was surprised you had this one wrong.
  2. Ahh.. Indianapolis...? But I do get that was a game we dominated until the 4th quarter.
  3. I know you had other conversations about speed off the line, but I wanted to throw another tangent thought in. (FTR I just said on the other thread that Striker is a one trick pony). Striker is asked to run around players and Shaq is asked to run through them (many times making a read first). I still need to see a whole game of Strikers, but he seems to excel at one thing (Edge rushing the passer). In the NFL, where tackles have better feet/technique, I think this strategy will be less effective. Shaq (whose game tape I've seen a lot of) on almost every play is required to make run/pass/edge reads, and then run through OTs to set the edge on his rush. I think scheme requirements explains their difference in speed off the ball (not some sort of "football" versus "spandex" speed). For me measurables come in during pass coverage. The highlight video in the UDFA thread showed ONE pass break up for Striker. Shaq doesn't break pass plays up, but he does force throws not to be thrown (and if they are thrown he punishes the receiver). Why are we even comparing our 1st round pick to a UDFA? Our #1 is better. Our UDFA is really good pass rusher, but is a really good edge rusher.
  4. So... long time reader, first time buzz kill. That highlight reel for Striker was great, but it only showed me one trick (I know UDFA, but you guys have given him 14 pages). I will try to find a draft breakdown to see a whole ball game because his highlight reel left me thinking he would only play in obvious pass downs. Yes he has great speed, but in the NFL the tackles have better feet/technique. Additionally, Rex likes chess pieces that can do multiple things (particularly against the pass), and his abilities seem specialized towards outside pass rush. I do like Zimmer even though he also plays in obvious pass downs too. I can explain when I've had less Fireball.
  5. I thought we all agreed that 5.6M was too much cap space for rookies. I thought we said something closer to 3 mil because of the rule of 53.
  6. I was wondering how he choose those games, cause he did not do any favors to anyone (except maybe Lawson) with the games he showcased. The Shaq game was great to see him go against one of the topic picks in the draft (I honestly could not say who won that match up).
  7. I agree he does look like an improvement on Goodwin, but the question will really be if he can learn to run routes. If so then this could be a steal.
  8. As I said before, I think this is by design. I was also slightly concerned about this watching other games too, but I realized he is being asked to make pass/run and read option reads on every play. That tells me his coaches trust his thinking. I think he will be a good OLB for us because of his ability to make reads. I forget the time, but in that game Dodd was asked to make a read and drop into coverage. He was a little too slow and didn't get deep enough. Cost his team a 20+ yard play. When he is asked to rush the passer he gets off the line with everyone else.
  9. I also saw Shaq being required to make a lot reads. The times he was asked to go after the QB he did alright, but when he did have to read it caused him to be a step behind (as you would expect). I was really impressed at the way he compressed the line and read the option. This was a good battle between Stanley and Shaq. Hard to say who won exactly.
  10. Again I'll respond to off topic material. Who cares about 2011? Whaley wasn't the GM scouting Taylor. Flash Forward to 2015 and Whaley WAS the GM that brought Taylor in. He's the GM and personnel is his game (even if the HC begs). So you AGAIN your point is moot. I'm also excited for a high ceiling low risk player. We needed a QB this draft. We got a QB with some of the best measurable. Previously, we had to take a player like this in the first round.
  11. Hogan says hello from WR cast off island. Is he the 1 in 10,000 you are talking about cause I think your math is WRONG. Back on topic, I didn't know anything about this pick, and originally scoffed at a RB pick. Looking closer I am very excited to get a high ceiling player at skill position of need. I have been very excited with how this draft played out. Sorta wondering what we can get from the UDFA class.
  12. So I don't think consensus means every single person so I don't think you misused it. However, with some time to think about this situation, I think it was that no one knew what to think after the late breaking news. Since it was announced so close to the draft no one even had time to ask him "WTF." Teams are risk averse and so universal consensus was not to use a 1st on him because microfracture surgery is tricky. Now with some time, I wouldn't be surprised if his comments get contextualized (its not that bad) and he gets taken very early in the second. We'll know soon.
  13. Yeah I agree and understand. But I was responding to a ridiculous post that said a Jack is a "waste of a pick." Not 1st round pick but a pick. Also the poster said his knee was done. I'm not so sure. Obviously it wasn't worth a 1st round but I think hell get drafted tonight. Still hoping it us
  14. I feel as if you are overstating the seriousness of his injury. They didn't necessarily say he's done; so much as say the risk was too high. I'm not sure why you say its a waste of a pick. Its risky but the reward is possibly a generational player (considering how the game is changing). I do agree that it seems all the physicians had similar diagnoses.
  15. Someone did something like this with Nkemdiche and I like it for Lawson too 3-4 Base Shaq NT Dareus Lawson Hughes Z Brown P Brown Nickel Shaq WIlliams Dareus Hughes Z Brown P Brown Gives Williams some rest while not asking too much from your NT or Lawson. I wonder what others think.
  16. Agreed. Take the gifts that have been given
  17. sucks but good players get drafted. Still lots of talent out htere
  18. Lots of talent falling for us. Very excited
  19. agreed on the reason and the distaste of the pick
  20. You've been spot on so far. Hope this doesn't start a LB run
  21. You don't go looking for an RT in the first round. But agree on taking Tunsil for replacing Glenn potentially.
  22. Does this mean hes falling or that hes picked?
  23. He didn't impress me with the film I watched (I forget the game). I think he had two sacks in the game (one was cleaning up his teammates pressure). The rest was not very impressive (I don't think he played man coverage, zone was meh, and he got pushed around on the run). That added up to a meh because he was so one dimensional (speed rush only), but I really don't know much.
