He had a slow start, but recovered well against my Hokies who have a very respectable Defense, primarily because of their secondary. I came away from the bowl game impressed.
McCoy and Dorsey both have established relationships with Beane & McD, and both have playing experience at the QB position. From a development standpoint I like that tandem, with McCoy at OC and Dorsey at QB Coach. Just my $0.02
Just a quick reminder of what Beane said about what he looks for in a QB in May:
- Intangibles are more important than prototypical size & shape
- Leadership Qualities
- Ability to throw from the pocket is a must
- Mobility when necessary is appreciated
- Values Accuracy over Arm Strength as long as arm strength is adequate; acknowledges gains in arm strength at this level are minimal at best
- Willing to take calculated risks, specifically in situations like 3rd & long. Mentioned wanting them to go through their progression let it rip and thread the needle rather than take off and run like many college guys tend to do these days - acknowledging that speed is different at the NFL level and that doesn't work as much.
