  1. A win is a win, and a road win is even better. I could be a whiny little b!tch and complain about 5-5, Wrecks, Tyrod s*cks, Sammy's feet or whatever the gloom and doom of the day is but eff that, I'm with OP, enjoy the win and move on.
  2. Only interesting part of the story to me is whether (assuming the family strife is true) its affecting his play. I'm skeptical. Story says the strife goes back two years but I remember some spectacular play from Rodgers last year.
  3. I blame the ratings drop in part to over saturation and greed. Thursday night is a prime example. Bad matchups that they try to prop up with the color rush BS...another blatant money grab...who in their right mind is buying those god awful jerseys anyway?
  4. I like SD for a lot of the same reasons, but I'll throw in that I don't see Miami traveling cross-country and winning their 4th straight.
  5. i can't answer the questions from a local standpoint, I'm in the unique position of being a Bills fan since the early 70's who only gets to see maybe 3-4 games per year. From what I saw, Flutie injected hope, optimism and competitiveness into the organization. As I recall, guys like Thurman and Bruce openly embraced him. This guy was a winner through and through but unfortunately his physical limitations (size and arm) were probably too much to overcome. The Rob Johnson/Flutie situation was pretty crazy. i favored Flutie, but in fairness his limitations became more apparent the more he played. And for the record, I still have an unopened box of Flutie Flakes!
  6. Anyone remember this article from only a week or two ago: http://www.theplayerstribune.com/richard-sherman-seahawks-what-you-dont-know-about-cornerback/ I get that he's talking about coverage, but it's not a stretch to say he went after Carpenter not (just) the ball: There’s an art to hand-fighting. When receivers and corners get into it, especially in press coverage, hands fly. People can talk about pass interference or illegal contact all they want, but inside of a route, both the receiver’s and the corner’s hands are constantly moving. Each will push and pull — whatever the situation dictates — within those motions to gain position. To the casual observer (and even to referees at times) all this action goes mostly unnoticed. But the great receivers will always be able to get away with it, and the great corners will always be able to combat it. It’s only a split second, but it can be the difference between a pass completion, an interception or a pass breakup. Part of it is strength, but there’s also a fluidity to it — on both sides of the ball — to where you don’t get flagged. It has to look natural. That’s the trick
  7. I could care less if it was Rex, Crossman, Carpenter or the water boy. It was a heads up moment at a time when it was easier to lose your cool over the horrible officiating. I saw a post-game where Russell Wilson acknowledged it as a smart move. To those who made the call in the comfort of your home...congrats, I certainly didn't think of it but I don't look it as an on field no-brainer given the circumstances
  8. This might not resonate in WNY but as a Mets fan I can remember our horrible owner talk about his goal to play meaningful games in September years and years ago. That quote was a yearly reminder of what a joke of a franchise I rooted for. Mercifully, the past two years have been pretty good for the Mets, albeit without a championship. No doubt the Bills have me in the same numbing mentality as MD 10 and where I had been with the Mets. On the other hand, no effing way I'm throwing in the towel at 4-4. That would be worse than the guy that leaves the stadium early when his team is getting blown out and never gets to witness the amazing comeback. Go Bills!
  9. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is any effort by the Bills to address the overall issue. I can only speak to my experiences at Jet/Met Life which goes back a few years, at the time they encouraged texting section # to security to report problems. Not sure if that was effective but it made sense to me. Does Buffalo do that? Admittedly would not have helped Mango.
  10. This is a disturbing post for me. My youngest (10) wants to go to a Bills game in the worst way...to the point that my wife was looking for cheap airfare without telling me (God bless her!). I live in Jet land and won't even consider taking the fam to Met Life, I've seen too much and have been fortunate enough to only endure mild (expected) abuse in my Bills jersey. But Bills-on-Bills? I can't remember ever seeing Jets-on-Jets. For those that said Mango should not have been carrying that much food..WTF? I guess she shouldn't have been wearing that dress, eh? I've been at many sporting events carrying too many beers/food and knowing full well that one false move/unlucky bump will render it useless. I accept that. What does that have to do with Mango's experience?
  11. As per Peter King on WFAN at lunch time today, the Bills announced that the RV lots were already filled up. He made it sound like the Bills fans were rabid for a win - tailgating 51 hours before the game...and then I read this negative thread. So what's up? Are the lots full this quick normal? Are they Pats fans? Is PK out to lunch? Sorry if I'm out of touch, I've only made the trip twice (both wins in the late 90's!), so my only insight is the inevitable youtube videos...BTW, will they put an afro on the Brady tackling dummy? Maybe that will help.
  12. Disclaimer: no doubt today was a disappointing loss. Sucks to lose to a divisional team with a worse record, but... Yup. A win next week and that Bills fan will be back in The Wolf territory. A loss and that Bills fan will be talking about throwing games for a better draft pick. I love the old Parcells quote: you are what your record is. Right now that's 4-3. Not bad, not great. Anyone inking us in for a loss next week should take the week off and watch the World Series instead. Yup. You never know where the wins (or losses) will come from. I hate the loser mentality that we have to beat the weak teams because we can't beat the good teams. The broken record (me) says we are 4-3, nothing more, nothing less. Personally I would have signed on the dotted line for 4-3 after the 0-2 start. Tough stretch ahead, Go Bills!!!!
  13. Agreed. When Hogan was on the team did I miss all the posts saying he needed more touches?
  14. Everyone remembers the next 4 years, but the run included 1989 and to a lesser extent 1988 and 1994. That loss to the Browns was devastating but it was also when I knew the Bills had arrived. I remember listening to the 1988 loss to the Bengals on the radio from the back seat (long ride home from grandmas funeral) and as I recall the Bills hung tough until some bad penalties by the goal line (maybe Bruce Smith on one?).
  15. Pure gold! I can't tell you how many times I think that to myself but can't say it.
  16. That was my take too. Anybody that expects Kaep not to get an earful on Sunday is delusional. I have no problem with the fans booing him, riding him with USA chants, etc...but even with that theres a line that shouldn't be crossed (i.e - hatred ) and more to the point throwing things or a physical confrontation.
  17. This attitude is completely unacceptable. How can you possibly maintain an upbeat attitude after we travel cross country, put up 30 against a 3-1 team with a good D in our third straight win after an 0-2 start, minus our best receiver... Seriously, I'm not dismissing some of the concerns raised in this and other threads but the overall negativity is astonishing. I'm with you Rico, any win is a good win. Had we lost all we would have heard is how good teams find a way to win the ugly games.
  18. Ih he ever ran it would be so he could grant himself a full pardon for DeflateGate.
  19. Love it. It's so f'n easy to throw in the towel and pile on. I get that it's been rough sledding for way too long (I go back to the early 70's), but its week 4 and I'm looking forward to the optimistic posts that will follow our win tomorrow!
  20. I never had the impression that Bills recaps were universally rosy, thats one reason they were so good.
  21. If your point is the 13 points is unsustainable, I get it. But if I had told you Saturday the Ravens would only score 13, would you have expected win?
  22. I tend to the middle of the road and try to maintain optimism, otherwise why expend energy on something that I pay into! My simplistic view is that I'm thrilled we held Flacco to 13 on the road without our two first rounders and Dareus. But anytime (except inclement weather) we hold a team to 13 we should win.
  23. Did anyone notice that Revis looked like he lost a step or three?
  24. Wading through todays long list of "the sky is falling" posts and the less popular "it's just one game, we'll be OK" posts makes me miss the reasoned recaps that the mighty Bill From NYC provided in the past. That was one-stop shopping for me as he would highlight both the positives and negatives of the game and present it in an overall context (positive or negative). Todays posts are like partisan politics, either way too far left or right with no reasonable middle ground.
